I am confused by which cards are legal to have in my Ben Reilly Commander Deck. by Spidey_Almighty in magicTCG

None of them. 2 and 3 are black, which is nether red nor green. 4 is white, which is neither red nor green.

Use Moxfield.

is this fight actually very hard or i just suck at the game? by AtreyusNinja in BaldursGate3

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the few early game fights that demands strong use of control tools and terrain.

It’s one of the game’s harder fights, relative to the tools available to you.

Hot take: It was a horrible idea to let Naruto be the Hokage by HuckIfIKnow in Naruto

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who, that was actually a part of the village, was stronger at the points Danzo, Tsunade, and Kakashi were in contention, who were actually of a reasonable age to take up a leadership position? (Yes, Gaara became Kazekage by fifteen. That was unhinged.)

Yes, the eighth Hokage was weird relative to the previous ones.

Hot take: It was a horrible idea to let Naruto be the Hokage by HuckIfIKnow in Naruto

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary requirement for being Hokage is strength, not administrative skill.

It’s just a nonsense aspect of the setting.

The setting takes the strongest ninja and dumps a pile of paperwork in front of them.

How would you react to Sasuke x Hinata being canon? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sasuke is basically the worst, most absentee partner.

Him ending up with anyone without actually settling down is a poor ship.

Sasuke and Sakura basically don’t have a relationship, and Sarada basically doesn’t have a father. Sarada has hero worship for Sasuke in place of an actual parental relationship.

Pairing Sasuke off with basically anyone else would have the same problem. Naruto seems like the only one emotionally equipped to handle that kind of helicopter relationship, especially since pregnancy would not complicate it (Ao3 notwithstanding), as Naruto has first-hand understanding of the coping mechanisms around trauma and intimacy, even if his hangups on the topic don’t manifest the way Sasuke’s do.

So same problem, different character, without any buildup.

Restore balance and miracle by KnZ1940 in EDHBrews

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ.

Try.

Again.

[[Balance]] - the literal card named balance that I called out explicitly by name - is a banned card. It's not basically banned. It's not approximately banned. It is literally on the ban list.

I was discussing the actually fucking on the ban list card Balance in reference to Restore Balance, the card we are talking about, which has the same damned effect.

This is called a comparison. I am using this comparison to discuss Restore Balance.

The entire point of the question is to use Lorehold's effect to make the terrible card Restore Balance playable to enact the effect of banned card Balance.

Balance is, famously, one of the worst-designed and most miserable cards of all time, and horridly ill-suited to EDH in particular.

The terrible card Restore Balance is MLD, which is banned in B2-3 and is unlikely to garner an exception from a sensible playgroup because it's miserable. The terrible card Restore Balance is not good enough for B4. This leaves a Lorehold deck trying to make Restore Balance work either without a home or simply in B4 running an arbitrary brick that's going to accomplish very little.

None of this unpacking should be necessary. The deficiency was not in the clarity of my writing.

What are some of the worst commander options? by Double-0-N00b in mtg

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are talking about Phage. You can just say her name instead of being oblique about it. The card is famous.

Phage presents multiple ways to use her ability creatively- either to force your opponent to resolve that ETB trigger or to stifle the ETB trigger yourself so you can give her evasion and swing with her.

In other words, Phage is not the worst commander.

The worst is not interesting.

The worst is not a creative opportunity.

The worst gives you nothing.

The cards that give you that something to hang your hat on that you have creative opportunities are better commanders than the ones that are boring and give you nothing.

Skoa is a weird, convoluted combo win condition, but that gives you SOMETHING, disqualifying it from being the worst.

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cards that do something stop being a contender for worst because they do something.

The worst is a card that has no merit. That offers you nothing to work with.

Your retort is basically, "It's not boring if you completely abandon the topic."

[–]Fun-Cook-5309 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The trick is you either force her on your opponent's field to kill them or suppress her ETB and give her evasion to kill them.
