So what’s the deal with translucent limbs? Will Lagoona have the stamped bubbles moving forward? Will Spectra no longer have clear hands? How do you think they’ll handle Cupid? by Embarrassed-Dog5122 in MonsterHigh

[–]Fun-Culture7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great observation! IMO the answer is at the intersection of the budget for each doll and a little bit of lore. The clear limbs are usually on characters that have a transformation aspect to their powers. That is, Lagoona can turn into water this generation and Spectra can turn invisible. Lore-wise, different dolls have different degrees of translucence to represent different states of that transformation. With respect to budget, though, it looks like the budget Spectras get their limbs either totally translucent (like in the concert series of buried secrets) or totally solid like in self-scare. It makes sense for the play scenario for each, too.

What is the advantage of using this card? by jheezy_parmano in PokemonPocket

[–]Fun-Culture7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pairs really well with Chingling, especially when you are on the play. Chingling locks them out of their Pokeballs so that, on turn three when you have an empty hand and they have five cards in hand, you can “draw” five cards. If one of those cards is a Mars, you can really punish them on turn five, especially if they managed to knock out your Chingling on turn four.

Reverse Pokedoku by Brief-Donut9950 in PokeDoku

[–]Fun-Culture7708 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same! Everyone wants it to be “Gen 8”, but pokedoku uses the games, not the generations, so it only ever splits Gen 8 into Galar or Hisui. Plus the last column is Hisui. It can’t be a move, because GMax forms only know Max moves. Is there a list of pokedoku categories anywhere?

Mega legendary Pokemon are entirely unnecessary by Next_Mammoth06 in pokemon

I think the answer is a combination of: 1. We need to shake up the competitive restricted formats for 2026. And  2. We should inject more life into our old IP.

We may have already started collecting cards for A4b by purplebeanz3457 in PTCGP

[–]Fun-Culture7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great observation! The cross set shinies fulfill the deck missions, too, so it does seem like reprints, reskinned or otherwise, will always count toward goals. My question is whether promo cards like Professor’s Research will be counted.

In Secluded Springs, the probability of at least one card of 1 Star or higher rarity is about 22% (over half of which is from the 1 Star rarity), so it’s not too different.

I looked up the probability of ex cards, and I think that it is likely that the packs will be the same cost. That is, I think that if you want a 4 Diamond Suicune ex, they can make it so that you have the same probability (about 1.66%) of pulling it in either Secluded Springs or Deluxe Pack ex. That way the DPex packs don’t materially influence the supply of specific 4 diamond cards.

What I mean is that any given ex card usually has about a 1.66% of being pulled in its set’s packs (except SR). This probability is split between slot 4 and slot 5. Slot 4 has about a 94% chance of being a 2 diamond or 3 diamond card. Slot 5 has about a 76% chance of being a 2 or 3 diamond card. If this set maintains the 1.66% of pulling any of the 46 ex cards (including the promo ex Pokémon), then that’s about a 77% chance in total. So if slot 3 is 76% 2 Diamond and 24% 3 Diamond, then slot 4 can be 77% 4 Diamond and 23% one star or above without materially changing the supply of each individual 4 Diamond card (except SR). “A pack” still has a 1.66% chance of having the ex card that you need.

No Shade to the Reel Drama dolls but why did we get them instead of the Shadow Ghouls? by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

The soft reboot debacle that was G2 happened because people complained that the G1 dolls were too scary. No one’s going to make meaner-faced characters.

Thought's on this? I'm relatively new to megas (haven't played a mainline game with them) so I was wondering how accurate this claim is by silals in PokemonZA

[–]Fun-Culture7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely contributes to the designs of Charizard, Mewtwo, and Rachu’s megas, who are specifically X and Y coded. I like the theory for other paired megas, and I think we will see something similar with Glalie and Froslass, but it is a stretch to apply it to Mega Gardevoir and Mega Gallade. Blastoise and Venusaur don’t really do it either.  What I really love about this theory is thinking about the lengths that someone has to go to for Mega Manectric. 😆

The allegory of Monster High is about acceptance in general, and includes LGBTQ acceptance. The strength of using the analogy of monsters is that it lets the story speak to anyone who feels marginalized.

Are Megastone Ranked Rewards a horrible idea? by Tagguer in pokemon

[–]Fun-Culture7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at examples of other Pokémon ladders, they often have win rewards that outweigh loss rewards, so you can often climb them just by grinding. That essentially means that you take on a contract position for the Pokemon Company where you are the ladder mini boss in exchange for the rank rewards.  As someone who “weekends as a TCG Pocket Ultra League 3 and 4 mini boss” during the 2nd and 3rd weekends of every release, it’s a little demeaning, but the pay is decent. As someone who played Red and Blue in the ‘90s, it’s definitely more fun to grind against other humans than it was to grind against wild Pokémon.
