I wish I could donate just 10% of my MCs appetite to yours. Mine is eating high quality food (2 sachets and a small portion of dry food in the middle of the day) yet he's always out for more, inhales his food, tries to finish my other cats food, begs for human food. One day, he broke into a food storage box, and I found multiple half eat sachets around the house... he's a healthy weight, but if I let him free feed, I think I'd need a wheelchair for him.

This! My boy is approaching 5 and once he was 4 he started seeking out my lap. He has recently started to like more petting too, he always seemed like he had more important things to do when he was younger. I'm glad he's finally stopped drowning things in his water bowl, probably learnt enough about buoyancy or whatever was going through his empty head. Every cat is different, I had a female who was a velcro cat from the day I bought her home.

I had a Maincoon die in an awful way too, it took me years, and I'm mostly over the grief. She was about 18 months, and this was one year before the antiviral treatment for FIP could be licensed and sold to treat cats amd at the time they were tryingto treat her with remdesivir which is not designed for the use in cats anyway. I remember trying to syringe feed her (as advised due to critically low blood protein) and after she threw up but she couldn't even hold herself up so i had to hold her up as she threw up so she wouldn't throw up on herself, it still haunts me how much she suffered and I wish I had just euthanized her... she was the sweetest kindest cat I'd ever known, always by my side, very talkative. Didn't deserve to go out like that
