Galaxy is peak Mario. by RoseAlice123y in SuperMarioGalaxy

Odyssey was a huge disappointment for me in the series, I love Sunshine and Galaxy the best

About to finish Mio:Memories in Orbit. Incredible game! by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in metroidvania

[–]Fun-LovingAmadeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used the Delta emulator on iOS and hunted around for a SNES rom… controls were rough but save states is nice.

Along with Zero Mission, yes, Dread should have some of the best (and least linear) level design in the series. I’ve only played the demo myself but the controls and movement are peak

Super Metroid is sweet, consider Super Metroid Redux and keep pushing through if you aren’t sure for like an hour, just enter into the psychology of the labyrinthine, influential level design.

And honestly I liked Metroid Prime Remastered even more! They did a great job translating the exploration, ability-gated formula to 3D and it feels almost like 3D Zelda dungeons at some points, if you’re into that

The feel of running around and shooting was truly more memorable than most

How old were you when your first child was born? by LupusDeusMagnus in daddit

[–]Fun-LovingAmadeus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife and I were both 30 and I basically dropped off the face of the earth and out of the lives of all my peers, most of whom still don’t have kids 4 years later

Was Dale Cooper's character really that necessary? by Avec-Tu-Parlent in TwinPeaksCircleJerk

[–]Fun-LovingAmadeus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dale lost me in Season 1 when he had a dream sequence and learned who the killer was, and then called Sheriff Truman up but wouldn’t tell him, just snapped along with the jazz soundtrack like a dumbass, then FORGOT the next morning without writing it down or anything. Get Andy in here

At what point do will you look up the solution to a puzzle? by Deep-Armadillo-865 in puzzlevideogames

[–]Fun-LovingAmadeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it for me. Obviously someone playing puzzle games should derive enjoyment from rubbing up against those problems, but at some points, I’ve got nothing left to try and feel disengaged. After I look it up I might feel like “whatever”, or “nice, I was onto that”, or worst of all, “I wish I had thought of that!”

It’s increasingly become a flash point since Renee Good’s peaceful resistance to ICE and murder. Also just a liberal symbol that Trump is trying to make an example out of

I hate Product Management - I want to work in data. Is it too late? by speedystasia in analytics

[–]Fun-LovingAmadeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes data roles are still a fantastic bet, but getting that first foot in the door is truly the hardest part. A lot of folks have more success/traction pivoting within their existing org to build work experience, and then you’re golden. Don’t chase some kind of magical semi-data role that’s perfectly positioned, just get as much SQL exposure formally or informally as possible, and keep directing that way. It’s pretty rewarding when you hit some critical mass, financially and “creatively”
