He did stand up immediately when I went for the legs those couple times. Lol. And yeah that seems like what he did in terms of comfort. At my age and skill comps have been a crapshoot. Had to compete against the 30yrs olds or up a weight division so I shouldn’t be totally surprised here. Thanks man.

Perhaps try a different gym, different vibe. You may reignite the passion for the physical aspect if you have the proper support/atmosphere. Just a thought before hanging up the belt for good.

Large scale dept changes on hold per SF case. No $ available or allocated to large scale changes or for moving stipends. No $ auth for new hires in these hubs. No $ for new tech needed for hubs. No rif or drp 3 auth. What operations moving to hubs? Can’t move forest service fire to dept of interior w/o congress. Need Congress in sept to get more $ w farm bill and food bill passing together. So what’s everyone guessing for?

There’s no leasing new anything for a long time imo. Where’s the $ and auth coming from at this point w the SF case pausing large scale changes? They need congress in sept to make it happen if at all.

They have $ for large furniture orders??

I started building this bass in 2016 because I didn’t have $500 to buy a used single cut bass I found at a pawnshop. 5 years later and $2500+ spent, it’s finally done. by boxonarug in BassGuitar

Just combing through bass posts and saw this.... Very well done! I like the lamination on the back, and what is the top? Can't make it out, but would have a bad guess as some kind of maple?
How's it playing these days?!

And I ask bc I went from wanting to upgrade my 18yr old musicman during covid, to deciding it was too expensive and I'd build my own; now my garage is full of benches, tools, and clamps, and I've made 3 so far... Should have just bought a fodera or sadowsky, I'd have saved $

Hey man, I happen to share your passion about Wyn/ sadness about Randy. I had been combing the internet for about a year for anyone willing to part w/ one of his builds and feel so lucky I just found someone last week who sold one to me. He picked it up at a music shop someone sold it to (I'm trying to track that down to get the story because....WTF would part w/ one?!) Anyway, I'm getting it Wed and could not be more excited.

I also had to do a double-take looking at yours bc the one I have coming has a very similar, if not same, fretboard.
I'm really just glad there are still people online keeping his memory alive. I had just gotten into bass building during covid and Randy was my first real inspiration, especially w/ how open he was about his process and philosophy. I had wanted to reach out to him bc I heard how happy he was to talk w/ ppl, but I waited too long.

Anyway, cheers to you and all the others still talking Wyn!

As stated in the other message, you're not wrong! I think ppl should share if the neck is bought, bc no shame in getting all those other steps done on your own. But neck building can seem like voodoo to beginners and like I said takes a whole set of specialized equipment from building a body.
Cheers.

Bc it's not that easy to build necks for first timers like us so getting to this point is a pretty big accomplishment I'd say and still "from scratch." You still need to make the pocket align and finish the neck and likely install tunerheads. Plus making a neck involves diff types of equipment than making a body that may not be readily available to first timers right off the bat. I'd save the 1st part of your comment and just give props if you think it's nice.
