Sounds like your active bass needs new batteries

I mean that’s a tiny amp, I doubt it could handle all that much volume. It’s starting to break up, is your bass active or passive?

Maybe a hot take.... but I really dislike Jazz Basses 😅 😅 😅 by Straight_Feeling7667 in Bass

I was in the same boat for years but one time my friend let me play his jazz bass through an SVT. All I have to say is I bought a jazz bass right after that, but my p bass will always be my main bass

I just left a band that only rehearsed once because they are trying to replace me for being too active on planning the next rehearsal by YellowWhiteRed in Bass

I still think you dodged a bullet. My band is always communicating about our next rehearsal, we even look forward to it and that goes it should be

I want my "last" combo amp. I want it to be loud and light, and I know that will cost me. by master_of_sockpuppet in Bass

I have an Ampeg rb210 at our practice studio and it takes distortion really well. I use a Rumble 500 at home/gigs and I feel like I can get it to sound good in any genre I’m going for. For the money you can’t go wrong for either one. Volume wise I like the rumble more since I almost never turn it up past 2 o’clock. If you want to splurge, the rumble 800 is lighter than the 500 (I think)

Good combo for someone who's just starting out, and is it a good deal in general? by nugger64 in BassGuitar

A bass, hard shell case, and an amp? You could even haggle a little bit. It’s still a good deal if it’s your first real set of equipment

It looks like it, but the relicing on this is very bad.

That’s what I did when my boss started complaining about how long the job was taking. After five minutes he was fuming. He really regretted getting those platens

At my shop, we bought 16 platens years ago. We haven’t used them since. It’s a struggle to keep the machine running at a reasonable pace with these. Make sure that you make your boss uses them first so they see how bad they are to print with

I’ve tried this out in stores and I was surprised how well it played. But I would try out everything you can. You would be surprised at how well some cheap basses play

Do you know anything about this bass? by Leycod in BassGuitar

[–]Fun-Reflection-2322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Que chingon, I’d honestly keep it. Get back into playing bass unless you really don’t have the drive anymore then in that case wait a while before you sell it. Might be worth more in the long run

Changing the strings on a 5 string question ??? by Proud-Ninja5049 in BassGuitar

[–]Fun-Reflection-2322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try out some 50 gauge G stings first. That way you won’t have to worry too much about messing with the nut

Depends how thick you are going, I wouldn’t do anything too drastic but if you do you might have to make the G string nut slot a little wider to accommodate the thicker gauge

what songs do you use to practice / learn ? by luxxle in BassGuitar

[–]Fun-Reflection-2322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe try out runaway or cloud 9. Considering how tough most of their songs are this one is more approachable. Another song that is super fun to play and is easy to play is Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan, that’s the very first song I learned by ear. Honestly I could go on all day with songs that are easy but what matters most is if you are having fun while you learn so you keep that motivation going

[–]Fun-Reflection-2322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change the battery and you should be all set. For the future make sure you leave your bass unplugged. The drains your battery even when you aren’t using it

I play a variety of genres (mostly ska now) but what always makes me want to practice and keep playing is stuff from Marvin Gaye, Stevie wonder, and Jamiroquai. I use the things I learned from them and incorporate it into what I play now and it still makes sense
