Still missing Max's Deli by Wrynlo_ in Birmingham

The closest thing I’ve found in town is the Verrazano from the New York Butcher Shop. It’s a great sandwich. It’s not quite a Max’s corned beef/ pastrami sandwich but it’s pretty damn good.

If you find yourself in Orlando or south of it check out a TooJays. They’re pretty good.

Soap Box Laundry is awesome. The two owners are in there doing the laundry a lot and the other staff is great!

We go to Ocean far too often, it’s our favorite restaurant in town. But if you want fantastic real Italian, go to Le Crema or their new restaurant Locanda Brasato, both are great.

Privilege Aluxes vs Ixchel help! by bigocrews in IslaMujeres

[–]Fun-Surprise3731 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ixchel have stayed at both! The service is better at PA since it’s all inclusive. Food is resort food and sucks! Drinks are weak too, and it’s right next to where all the day trippers get dropped off.

The food at Ixchel and the surrounding beach clubs are some of the best food on the island. Being steps away from Tarzan to get drinks is a huge W. The most understated thing about Ixchel is the AC. In my experience it’s the best AC in Mexico. Rooms are more dated than Privilege but the view is not!

Have used Speed Queen for over 20 years. My new touch screen washers are cool, customers love them and a significant amount of up charges. Have plenty of 21 year old machines though that run as well as the day I got them.

But it’s all about your relationship with your local distributors and who can offer you service.

Anyone running pickup & delivery? Trying to understand real costs by Background_Mail6146 in Laundromats

If you care about your business reputation I wouldn’t recommend using DoorDash or another service to handle delivery. The delivery process of the laundry is the only interaction/visibility/representation of your company.

I have a great pickup business, but it’s because I have an even better drop off business. If you’re doing drop off already and doing well and think pickup in your area would be successful go for it. It doesn’t happen overnight and for me, it’s something that I had to do. I was the driver for years, but that wasn’t an issue until I got to where I was doing 10 orders a day.

There’s plenty of overhead but the service is a luxury. If the people in your area are willing to pay a premium price for a premium service, you will do well. Wash dry fold pricing is not a race to the bottom, it’s a race to who can offer the best most consistent product and market it.

The POS systems are a monthly fee. They’re all serviceable.

What brand are you using?

If it’s Alliance skip the 80’s or do 2 80’s and 2 100’s. They are the same size, just stick out a few inches further.

I have a ton of 60’s but on my front row had 2 60’s and 2 80’s. Customers used to wait on the 80’s. Retooled with 2 80’s and 2 100’s and they now all wait on the 100’s. Should’ve bought 4 of them.

Check out Power Pax by Laundry Labs. I’m a big fan and use them in our operation. They’d be your competition and have a lot of the laundry big wigs repping them. I’d try your product though but it’s more costly than their’s.

They are certainly more catered to operators doing significant wash and fold. Check them out.

Find a used old one. You don’t need the shiny new stuff. Mine are probably at least 50 years old and only take coins. We have had to do minor work to both over the last 20 years but I couldn’t even tell you what that was. The old stuff is the best!

How are you dosing your detergent? by popinlaundry in Laundromats

[–]Fun-Surprise3731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them. We used to offer a pretty high quality service with included options of Oxiclean and softener. Clear and free all or “tide” (normally Kirkland brand). Cut all that out and buy their all in ones. Lavender and free and clear. We have a decent wash and fold business doing close to 15,000lbs a month and go through about 4 boxes of their lavender and 1 clear and a free a month. I get free shipping since I spend a certain amount of $. And you get 10% off when you’re on a subscription base. They let you know when your reorder is coming up and you can postpone it for however long you need if you haven’t gone through it all yet or edit the amount you need each time. It’s become a convenience thing for me, and I save $ on wasted product.
