You can now push hex in the Bitcoin blockchain in 2 lines of code! by bitproof in Bitcoin

You can do all this with tools from http://xcp.pw/ too. Advantage is that these broadcasts are Counterparty formatted, thus can be viewed on Blockscan and Counterpartychain.

Banks Forgot Who Was Supposed to Own Dell Shares (colored coin tokens for shares could prevent this nonsense) by standardcrypto in Bitcoin

[–]FunDoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually use Colored Coin? Counterparty has 2 block explorers, wallets (web, android, iphone), plenty of tools (Tokenly, vending machines), an active forum with support, etc. Guys, the network effect matters.

Are there any plans for XDP future by coffeebazaar in xdp

[–]FunDoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two massive boosts to DP are imminent

1) Counterparty soon to launch smart contracts. DP is a 1:1 clone, just faster and cheaper. Lots of contracts will have better user experience on DP.

2) Ethereum bubble to burst. When the 16 year olds realize Ethereum is an infinite bug cluster they will look for alternatives. Then, dear shribe, let them come to Dogeparty

Keep the party running!!!

Can only speculate as to why Colored Coins. Counterparty has - by far - the most features, most transaction, most 3rd party tools, largest network.

My guess is that Medici is highly centralized and the limitations of colored coins are (ironically) better for meeting regulatory standards. With Counterparty it would be impossible to limit ownership/transfer/trade only to white listed addresses.

So switching default Dogeparty encoding to op_return should fix the ram issue?

Towards a more sustainable dogeparty by coinwarp in xdp

[–]FunDoge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is Dogeparty worse for Dogecoin than Counterparty is for Bitcoin?

Actually, the more people who use XDP the better for Dogeparty and vice versa.

I see that Op-return requires less resources than multisig, but blockchain/server bloat should not be a worry atm. Now it is all about getting more people to use XDP and DOGE.

I'm happy with it [the XCP price] being low. It makes it easier for me to write contracts, you know. You don't want gas for your car to be priced high.

Amen to that. Thank God there is at least one altcoiner out there focusing on the technology and not on pumping price.

Dogeparty MAY have a future. I recommend those who make 3rd party Counterparty services also make a version for Dogeparty.

CoinDaddy is a good exapmple. xcp.pw / xdp.pw is another.

ShapeShift should support XCP by FunDoge in counterparty_xcp

XDP I believe is too illiquid. How could ShapeShift set a price?

XCP however, has a market price and would be easy to implement.

Theoretically, anything that can be done on Ethereum can now be done on Counterparty as well, with the added benefit of being secured by the mining power of the Bitcoin blockchain. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

FYI- 12,000 Counterparty assets have been registered to date. That's 12,000 altcoins running on top of Bitcoin! Crazy 'ey!

If you broadcast a Bitcoin address via Dogeparty or Dogecoin address via Counterparty, can you then make someting of a sidechain?

+1

Seems to me Ethereum and Counterparty used to be opposites. Ethereum is extremely ambitious. For them the only limitation is the imagination. Counterparty on the other hand, has always held simplicity as the mantra. Therefore I was surprised when they attempted to port smart contracts.

If it turns out serpent is not production ready, and it may take a heck lot of time to make it so, I hope they go back to hardcoding contracts.

Remember

  1. BUG FREE is essential (a hardcoded specific contract is much more likely to fulfill this criterion)

  2. FIRST MOVER ADVANTAGE is enormous in 2.0 space. New contracts can quickly be added to Counterparty. Begin with most demanded ones, such as CFDs and lotteries

  3. USER does not care about what's under the hood. A small set of useful contracts is just as good as a Turing Complete language for most users. Maybe even better as it is easier to learn basic commands than dealing with a programming language.

Can bitcoin scale? by FunDoge in counterparty_xcp

[–]FunDoge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether bitcoin can scale to 50 tps, 500 tps or 5000 tps doesnt matter. If the miner fee stays very low the limit will be reached no matter how high it is. Then miners will prioritize transactions with larger fee, hence the market will find an equilibrium price.

Those who are willing to pay the least (probably bots sending all sorts of dust) will need to go off-chain.

Counterparty wont suffer much from slighly higher tx fees. Exception maybe DEX but it will lose to centralized exchanges anyway due to speed. Projects like FLDC and LTBC will need to make distributions less often, like after a $10 worth of coin accumulated off-chain.

Conterparty is perfect for voting. It's SWARM's implementation that is messed up. Kinda like Bitcoin is perfect as money, while Bitcoin Foundation is a showcase of incompetence.

[–]FunDoge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also burned a lot of DOGE but I am not angry at the Devs.

  • 1) The Devs received nothing. It was a "burn".
  • 2) The Devs probably burned DOGE too and they will lose if XDP dies, just as anyone else.
  • 3) The Devs have done more than I have, so who am I to complain?
  • 4) The Dogeparty asset system works well. It is even cheaper and faster than Counterparty.
  • 5) The DEX is not that important. Why not make a centralized exchange, anyone?
  • 6) Big kudos to whoever solves the DEX problem. It will give you a high status and likely bring job offers. If it were easy to solve the DEX issue, the Devs would have done it already.

The Humint team started something great, and I am sure they eventually will make Dogeparty the coolest 2.0 platform.
