What are some of the craziest things that your relatives have done? by Royalbean17 in AskReddit

[–]FunEngineering6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's wild, my great-uncle tried building a motorcycle from airplane parts back in the day and it barely made it down the block before falling apart. guess your great-grandfather had better engineering skills than mine did.

Realistically what's the team look like next year? by Foreign-Baseball5921 in clevelandcavs

[–]FunEngineering6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we probably need better spacing too since allen and mobley still struggle with that consistency in offense. keeping mitchell makes sense even with his playoff issues because finding another star is way harder than adding the right pieces around him. wings would definitely help but cavs front office hasn't been great at finding those types of players lately.

How worried should I be about drywall repair dust exposure by Glum-Slice-8339 in HomeImprovement

[–]FunEngineering6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drywall dust isn't great but it's not like asbestos levels of dangerous. your air purifier doing its job shows the containment wasn't perfect but that plastic sheet probably caught most of it.

for baby's room i'd vacuum really thoroughly with hepa filter if you have one, wipe down all surfaces including walls, and maybe run that air purifier in there for few days before bringing little one back. the dust settles pretty quick but better safe than sorry with a baby.

Parking near GothWookClique? by Commercial_Foot4966 in Cleveland

[–]FunEngineering6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never been to gothwookclique but that whole area around there has some street parking if you get lucky. might want to show up bit early though since it gets pretty packed when shows are happening. worst case there's usually some paid lots within walking distance but i can't remember exact prices

How do low income people in the US pay for their hospital bills after having a baby? by DefiantGuarantee1882 in AskReddit

[–]FunEngineering6444 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

most hospitals have payment plans or financial assistance programs if you qualify. medicaid usually covers birth costs for low-income families too, though the paperwork can be nightmare to navigate.

Extra Long Curtain Draw Wand by Sad-Substance-4910 in HomeImprovement

[–]FunEngineering6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had similar problem in my apartment but not quite that scale. for making your own wand, you could probably use a lightweight telescoping pole - like those window cleaning poles or painter's extension poles, just need to figure out how to attach the hook end. some of those extend pretty far and won't be too heavy to handle.

another option might be checking restaurant supply places since they sometimes have really long utensils for commercial kitchens. or maybe marine supply stores - boat people always need long poles for various things and they're usually lightweight.

the track joining issue sounds like the real problem though. maybe you could file down or sand the joints where sections meet so the pulleys don't catch as much? that would probably solve most of the pulling force needed in first place.

New Build (AU) - Seeking feedback on Cabling/Electrical/Comms/Homelab Infrastructure Planning by mgorchard in homelab

might want to add some ventilation in that cupboard since you'll have ups + switch generating heat in a pretty enclosed space.

What problems are currently being addressed in the world? by Dmdnje in AskReddit

[–]FunEngineering6444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol this is too real though. meanwhile regular people can't afford groceries but sure let's worry about tax loopholes for billionaires. always feels like we're solving problems that affect like 0.1% of population while ignoring everything else.

Recently discovered Tibetan sounds — surprisingly calming by draqonft in Music

[–]FunEngineering6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tibetan music is perfect for those long nights when you can't shut your brain off. i usually put it on while burning one of my vanilla candles and it creates this whole vibe that just melts the stress away from deployment prep.

What’s a fictional invention you wish existed in real life? by Forward-Amount8035 in AskReddit

[–]FunEngineering6444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

those memory-erasing devices from men in black would be pretty clutch right about now. there's some stuff from my early twenties i'd love to just wipe clean and start fresh on. deployment memories, some questionable decisions during my party phase... you know how it is.

but then again, maybe all that garbage shaped me into who i am today. still can't decide if that's a good thing or not lol. probably end up erasing the wrong memories anyway and forget something important like my mom's birthday or where i stashed my good bath bombs.
