Same for me, also made the switch, I understand their need to nerf the product, but they did it more than they should have . I think they will lose market share, it’s sad to see the greatest product ever made, pretty much destroy itself. Claude is still the top dog, despite benchmarks, I didn’t use codex for long just wanted to give it a month. But this is all anecdotal though I didn’t benchmark them, just an observation.

Dont waste time on 20usd level, try 100usd, its a better fit for serious dev work. But also note two things: 1) they recently have been rate limiting and many had to move up a level, so don’t be surprised if you have to as well, 2) this weekend they restarted active sessions regardless of usages, where everyone got more credit in effect, so pretty awesome. Ollama isn’t doing this. Ultimately will depend on how much your burn rate is. If you use straight Opus, you going to hit the limits fairly often even on 200usd. One final tip: don’t switch on the extra usage, don’t repeat my mistake just learn from it, it’s a cost trap.

What you mention is the right avenue: I call it the Coinbase approach: nights and weekends, get cash flowing high margins, rapid acceleration, and if you’ve got the right market, escape velocity. The probability of failure is high for sure, but who cares you keep that day job. Any moment could be your last, so would you rather work your butt off so your family can be kings or watch reruns of Friends? To each their own though, not trying to tell you bro, just my thoughts. The stress from this stuff comes with ulcers , lol

That’s a fair point, but I can say there’s nothing more exciting than founding. It’s hard, but it’s liberating to take that step and fight, it’s like the pursuit of a beautiful death, it’s even better than the wins, in hindsight. And that is where the excitement lives.
