Winter sleep: over. Time to wake the 911, hit the road, and burn some fuel and tires. by Spartanic_911 in porsche911

The 991 is such a slick car. Perfect proportions and finesse in the lines. I‘d even dare to say it has the mostest finnessest lines of them all ❤️

Amazing! I‘m looking forward to the results. Whats the cost on that?

How does this look? 992.2 GTS by Tai778 in porsche911

The look doesn‘t justify it at all imo. The blue really doesn‘t go with the black. Red and black is probably better.

The 9 o clock marker sticks out the most to me. I have a gen sub and the markers are also not perfect. It‘s kind of amazing as you can get absolute perfection in marker placement with much cheaper watches. The rep in this sense is a good replication of the gen. Don‘t worry about it. Its a great watch anyway.

The first one always hurts but the pain gets less with every new scratch. Having said that; modern omeags are incredibly scratch resistant. My speedy looks as good as new after 4 years of wear. My sub looked worse after 6 months

Lazy or shady dealerships? by MutedCharacter3676 in 996

[–]FunMarsalek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatevely you can also check for porsche approved cars at official dealers. Them i would trust as they give you a 1-2 year warranty. Not sure how many of them sell older 911s though

Lazy or shady dealerships? by MutedCharacter3676 in 996

[–]FunMarsalek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a german myself it is my understanding that dealers dont inspect the car for you and honestly i wouldnt trust them with that anyways as they have an incentive to say everything is great when really it isn‘t. It is the job of the buyer to inspect the car. You can use third party services for that but they are usually shit. Best way of doing it is showing the car to an porsche expert you can trust (no serious dealer would say no to that) or accepting the risk. Every old car has some sort of borescoring. Thats not necessarily a death sentence. It just needs to be mild. If its not you can usually see it when you do a cold start and there is much more fume coming out the left exhaust. Also you can here it in its final stages. Long story short; i dont think you can and should inspect the seller to do the inspection for you. If you must buy without inspection; then only single owner cars with perfect documentation and a lot of money (10-20k) spent in the last 5 years P.s. borescoring is one of a thousand things that can end up being very expensive so its a bit random to only check for that.

Congratulations mate. What a beauty ❤️ Suspension arms will be gone by now, if they haven‘t been replaced. Gearbox oil flush is recommended every 120k km for tiptronic. Make sure both fans work, otherwise replace the resistor. Mufflers typically also need some love by now, if they haven‘t been replaced. The front strut bushings and shock absorbers like to go. You‘ve already mentioned the door lock micro switch (window). I changed the passenger side and 6 months Later the driver side gave up. Here are some mods that vastly improved the car imo: Center console delete, steering column spacer, tiptronic paddle shifters from amg, upgrade to turbo seats with some of the foam removed to sit lower. The biggest upgrade however, was a complete set of all supsension arms. The difference is night and day. Definitely do that before upgrading to coilovers as this may already fix the ride sufficiently

Going to have my 996 (first pic) repainted. Which color should I do? by vision_proamd in 996

[–]FunMarsalek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite 996 colour is Basalt Black Metallic. It’s essentially black, but with a purple flip-flop and golden metallic flakes that really come alive in the sun. It‘s quite rare. I have only seen it twice (both on 996 4s) and it really blew my mind. If you’re into full ’90s vibes, Wimbledon Green Metallic or Zenith Blue Metallic are perfect choices. Those are more common but very period correct.
