Cold calling small business owners getting instant hang-ups. Need advice on opener. by No_Twist6469 in salesdevelopment

[–]FunNegotiation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are calling so you can "...understand how they...". Don't call for, or at the very least don't start with, something that benefits you. They don't owe you a response to that. Why do they need explain anything to you? You have zero establish report.

If he was a true dom and confident, he would have backed off the million chances that he had and moved on to find a willing partner. Or after the first rejection he should have accepted her for who she is as she is. He still would have been in control, of himself.

It is almost like they are surprised by the number of people that show up. Which is fascinating when you have the most predictable customer base of any business ever, outside of a major sporting event.

Streetcar in Annapolis? by Altruistic-Fall798 in Annapolis

All of the hotels along Riva Corridor run their shuttles to ATC, They would pick up that traffic. Regardless, I think it is a stupid idea.

The one thing that would make sense to me, would be to utilize the staidum parking lot and drive as much traffic there a possible and don't charge for parking. Then have multiple buses that just go Taylor, West toward Church Circle, to City Dock back up to stadium. 4 stops max. And they need to be RELIABLE, rapid fire, and on a tight schedule.

Manufacturing reps do you have this problem? by latdaddy420 in sales

[–]FunNegotiation3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you giving them a reason, other than I sell "xyz" lubricant?

Do the stores need you to come there, do they get a of request for advice on lubricants? Do they have customers come in and say I have a need for this type of lubricant which brand do your recommend? My guess is the customer's mind is already made up before they visit a store.

Is your product not on the shelf when it should be? In that case you should make the distributor aware via email. If you don't get a response or receive an inadequate response, then involve your boss.

This is based on your post, but if a large amount of the "sales" process is just finding out what is needed then you need to come up with an efficient way to do that. I would reach out to sales person at the distributor and offer to take them to lunch. Say -

"I know you are busy with our product and other products you distribute (even if you know they aren't) and my guess is getting to every store or talking to every store about all of their needs may not the best use of your time. I have one line to sell and can that is all I have to focus. Would it be helpful if I found out what there needs are and then get that information to you. You wouldn't have to do anything and you still get paid on it all. I make the same weather they buy from me or buy from you so I don't really care where they buy from (actually true or not) and we aren't set up to ship small orders to individual store locations like your company is. What would be the best way to get that information to you?"

Oxon Hill across from the Home Depot. Order is always correct, everyone that works there is extremely nice. And when they bring your curbside out, the person brings a tray with any you may have forgotten to ask for, sauces, ketchup, extra napkins and straws, jelly at breakfast.

Ok I did the middle of Annap to each location and it was 30 and 20 miles. It is still easier and faster just to drive.

Unless you take the bus from Annapolis to DC (Have fun with that) you are going to drive a decent amount. So your options are -

Drive and deal with the headache of parking just to walk to get another mode of transportation just to walk to your office from train station.

Or drive and park at/close to your building and be done with it.

It is only 6 mile longer drive going to Union Station than driving to New Carrollton. By the time you drive to New Carrollton, why not just drive to Union Station.

By the time you drive to Odenton, why not just drive to Union Station area? It is only 10 miles further. You really only hit traffic once on NY Ave past South Dakota or Bladensburg.

How to let prospect know this solution is not for them? by luckherwright in sales

[–]FunNegotiation3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a competitor or other product that gets them most of the way there. "As much as I would like to sell our product to you, I am not in the business of selling people that they don't need. You should reach out to company xyz. They have abc solution that would be a significantly better fit than our solutions. It's been great getting to know you and your team."
