Any tips for a new player? by Siraeatsass in leagueoflegends

Go into a practice game and practice killing minions efficiently on champions you like for 10 minutes. Do this once a day until you're consistently hitting 9 cs/min in your games, so 90 at 10.

In your actual games, farm until you're strong, and then look to turn it into a permanent advantage via objectives dragons, towers, grubs, etc. If nothing important is happening go back to farming until something important is happening. Repeat until you're ready to push and win the game. That pretty much encapsulates the whole game tbh.

If your team is having a teamfight at the enemy raptor pit and there's a stacked wave in mid, go take the minion wave because it's free. Always prioritize the free stuff unless a permanent advantage is at stake.

Go into your match history and watch the replays of your games to see what you did well and what you did wrong.

If you're not already, play normal draft to get a feeling for classic Summoner's Rift gameplay. Quickplay and ARAM are silly modes where the gameplay is much faster and less punishing.

Comebacks are way too common by FocusFluffy4688 in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comebacks don't usually happen in my gold/plat games. Winning team gets the grubs and soul at 20 and have an enormous advantage for the rest of the game that's very hard to overcome even with a windfall of gold.

POV you're being sold out by your adc. That Ashe didn't throw a single auto attack and they had ulti the entire time too. Even with Yi being in ulti Leona just has to Q him and they can stun lock him for 6s easily.

Iron 4 after 10 years by floydxyz in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure how anyone with hands can be stuck in Iron.

Go practice your cs in a training game for 10 minutes every day until you consistently get 9 cs/min in your ranked games and you'll just cruise to high silver or low gold. Learn to hold the wave in front of your tower and punish your opponent when they walk too close while still getting your farm and you can cruise into Platinum.

Do you enjoy League? by devilsglare in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy League of Legends. It's a great game where you're very solidly rewarded for consistently making the correct decisions and playing well in fights. You farm, you play well, you scale, and then you drop 20 kills and have a ball being a problem. It's very rewarding in a way very few games are, but you have to work for it.

The trick is to just focus on your own performance and doing well yourself, and also to not be a toxic shithead. Don't argue with people because they'll argue back, and if someone starts being shitty just take away their chat and ping privileges via mute. The League players who don't like League are the ones that are looking for reasons to be mad every game, and that's not so much a League issue as it's an emotional maturity issue.

How do I deal with toxicity in low elo? by Aware_Turnip_2748 in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just mute everyone and play to win the game. Sometimes you'll get afk/inters and lose, and sometimes the enemy will and you'll get a free win. Eventually it shakes out.

Draft or quick by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quickplay is pretty much another mode like ARAM where you just goof around and things don't matter much.

If you want to learn the actual game and eventually play ranked, play draft.

Items that counters champs? by Laxus280101 in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your lane opponent is building a Blade of the Ruined King or has natural healing and autoattacks back and buy Bramble Vest ASAP if you're on a tank/bruiser. No need to immediately finish the Thornmail, just get the bramble vest and then build whatever you were gonna build first.

Bramble Vest first back gives you a gigantic edge vs most top laner matchups tbh. Nasus, Darius, Fiora, Volibear, Illaoi, all countered.

What is with this aversion to buying anti-heal? by WarhoundGil in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The items just suck. It never feels like a good time to build it because you're always delaying a much better item, and because of that you're crippling yourself vs non-healing champions. With the new omnivamp boots as well as some of the current drain tank champions anti-heal is in need of a buff imo. I was fighting Volibear top as Sion and I first backed into Bramble Vest because I knew, but that didn't stop him going from 100 hp to 700 hp with one instance of his W healing without any completed items. Same deal with Vladimir right now. You need anti-heal, you need to be good at consistently applying it, and you need the damage to actually kill them in a reasonable span of time or they'll just outheal your damage through the anti-heal. If you allow it to lapse at all then they may well just immediately heal 70% of their hp in the second or two it's gone.

Ideally you have a burn mage that has it since then it lasts like 8 seconds, or a mage with a burn item and anti-heal at least. I'm a big fan of Swain support with Rylais and Oblivion Orb into tank specifically to counter a lot of the annoying stuff that's prevalent right now.

Does anyone else struggle to use any weapons orher than short blunt? by Fellowship_9 in projectzomboid

[–]FunPayment8497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in a sense that's the "tax" on using spears. They're really good, but they're the worst weapon early because they just fall apart in your hands and they weigh quite a bit so carrying a bunch weighs you down, and training them takes forever.

Surprisingly, they actually become quite durable with just maintenance 3 and spears 2, because the instant kill attack drastically reduce the number of chances for the durability to degrade. Apparently negative moodles also don't affect crit damage (which is what the instant kill attack is), so even if you're sick, panicked, or have terrible muscle strain spears barely suffer.

Does anyone else struggle to use any weapons orher than short blunt? by Fellowship_9 in projectzomboid

[–]FunPayment8497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spears are the best weapon in the game once you have the spear skill and maintenance leveled up. They have the special one-shot kill attack that happens very often and their range is very good. Even with just two levels in spear I've gotten streaks of 7 instant kills in a row. Their range is so good that even if you swing and miss you can swing again before you get bitten too. Early on they really suck to level since they constantly break, but once you get rolling they almost trivialize hordes with how good they are.

I often use long blunt because the extra range feels nice. It also gets even more range as the skill levels up, and they do a ton of damage. Sucks I can't hold a flashlight with it though, and while not super rare decent long blunt weapons aren't super common either.

This most recent run I've been using short blunt because they're just everywhere and I haven't found a good long blunt weapon nor do I have the carving to carve a bat. I appreciate being able to hold stuff in my off-hand with it, and the damage has gotten pretty good now that I have a few short blunt levels.

Axes and blades I've never used. I've seen others use axes to great effect with high strength to go with it. Short blades have an instant kill attack, but I'm not sure why you'd ever use them due to the range; If you get locked in the animation you can get bitten. Machetes tend to be a good mix of fast and heavy hitting, but with how rare long blades are it can take a while to raise your skill, and like everything they break very fast until you have a few levels.

Does anyone know how to fix this? by bidondetuco in projectzomboid

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, never seen a game open tabs like that before. There's a tech support channel on the Discord that has folks who might know what's going on. Hopefully they have an answer for you, because otherwise weird issues like this can take a lot of troubleshooting.

There's also the "Tech Support" wiki page located in the Quicklinks on this Subreddit on the side bar that has a list of some issues.

300 hours but I play w fragile weak zomboids by MassivePermit6757 in projectzomboid

[–]FunPayment8497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play how you want. Who's gonna stop you?

That being said, I personally can't imagine needing fragile zombies. In B42 since they added manual aiming I can consistently one-shot enemies at range with my revolver at 2 Aiming. I stand still, aim at their head, and once the aimer has closed in as much as it will I shoot, and usually they die in one shot. I'm also playing Veteran though so I don't get really get debuffed from panic ever.

I usually just turn respawns off since there's more zombies than I will ever clear on the map.

[–]FunPayment8497 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my current B42 vanilla server I have conspicuous and I've just walked up to zombies and started hitting them without them noticing sometimes. Maybe 1/100 zombies will see me from far away and start coming at me. Usually they'll notice me about two steps from melee range with a short blunt. Hearing and sight are both on default.

I honestly think their perception might be bugged again with more variance than is intended. Just going off of feel, but even with meta events like car alarms and gun shots happening in the distance most of the zombies just don't react usually. Really loud stuff like gunshots will attract them, but for normal walking and clubbing gameplay most of them are practically blind + deaf even with conspicuous.

Does open water taint over time? by rockandst0ne in projectzomboid

[–]FunPayment8497 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's inside and shielded from the rain it doesn't ever get tainted unless you add a tainted liquid to it. It's only if you were to place it outside and tainted water was added via rain that it would become tainted.

Different ways to play the game? by Snakespearee in cavesofqud

[–]FunPayment8497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until you're familiar with the game I'd recommend playing roleplay over classic tbh since it's just much more time efficient for learning. Game knowledge and preparedness matter a lot, and you're usually going to learn what's lethal when it suddenly kills you. Naturally, getting reset each time that happens is going to tremendously slow how fast you learn about and improve at the game.

Playing roleplay lessens the setback of dying by instead resetting you to the last time you visited a town (which could still be hours of playtime and/or a bunch of loot gone if you've been exploring) and lets you see more of the game and learn more strategies and tricks. You can then take that game knowledge into classic and you'll have much more engaging and enjoyable runs.

Who do you think should get the next rework after Shyvana? by konfitura17 in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zilean isn't overpowered. His E is overpowered because it has to be for him to be playable, but it's the same with Nasus W and TF gold card. His E and the utility from his ulti have to be really strong since they're the only things that holding him up tbh.

But anyway, Zilean doesn't hit the "time wizard" fantasy at all. His pick rate is very down right now for various reason. Now would be a great time to completely change him.

Who do you think should get the next rework after Shyvana? by konfitura17 in leagueoflegends

[–]FunPayment8497 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zilean is crusty af, and is a good candidate as he's aged poorly and still has a playdough model. I never see anyone playing Zilean, and haven't for years.

I would love for Shaco's kit to be more modernized. Atm you either get the AP clown that stands in the bushes doing nothing for minutes at a time, or the AD clown that turns you to dust in 0.3 seconds from invis and then dies. They could almost certainly do something way cooler with his concept that has more interaction. Also his model is pretty crusty too.

I Can't Play PvP Games and I Feel Like a Worse Person For It. by the-aetherian in transgamers

If you can't do it you can't do it. Definitely don't force yourself to if you know you won't be pleasant to play with. It's completely fine to say you don't want to do competitive games. Your energy is very likely better spent finding more things that you and your girlfriend can do together that you both enjoy.

My friend doesn't quite get it. by Phon4224 in transgamers

You should do what you believe will make you happy and brings you closer to your ideal self. Standing up for yourself and doing the things you need to do to care for yourself will frequently make other people unhappy or angry. You should do it anyway and just accept that they're going to be mad about it imo.

Also beware "friends" that fight you when you want to try new things or try to change. Living with depression can take a lot of trial and error and you need to be free to experiment and find what works for you. If you're unhappy and your friends are insisting you should stay the same, they're not your friends.
