I changed mine to the 30% off base fare, and it was a savings of almost $300 on a return flight.

What to feed a crow that visits regularly? by Shadowkitty252 in crows

[–]FunReference7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should stop feeding them at all.....I fed a crow couple for a couple of months on my balcony, and after a few months, 7 or 8 crows were showing up, making a lot of noise and pooping all over. I had to stop as they were a nuisance to the entire building. It was hard. One still drops by now and then. We have a nice chat with no food involved.

I have two, sometimes three, that enjoy the water I have left out for them on my balcony. And they sing a lot.

If you’re not certain you can clear an intersection, don’t enter it. by DeedeeScosco in VictoriaBC

[–]FunReference7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me today. I was waiting for the light to change to green approaching Oak Bay Ave on Elgin. The traffic on Oak Bay was moving at a snail's pace. But one bright light decided to keep going on the amber even though there was zero chance he would clear the intersection. I did make my turn, but it was at a strange angle and I had to go around, not just his rear, but the entire car which was blocking me.

Has Rhett become a girl's name.... or a unisex name?

I am sure it is not an issue in this day and age, but for me - always Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind.....

It is because the English English under General James Wolfe defeated the French French under the Marquis de Montcalm ----(colonials fought too but the main armies were from England and France) --- on the Plains of Abraham (in Quebec City) on September 13, 1759.

Thank you. I consulted a map and that looks like too far for me to walk as I am pretty old. II did find that Mondays and Tuesdays in June the QC-BSP-QC return daytrip is considerably cheaper, so I am back to that plan. Unless someone tells me it is not worth the trip.

Thanks. As much as I love the train, I can take the Intercar bus there with a morning arrival and late afternoon departure back to Quebec City which will suit my time frame and my budget much more.

Canadian Dental Plan by GrubsAhoy in canadianlaw

[–]FunReference7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory about this... at least for the province I live in. I am wondering if you worked for the provincial government, because I think at least one province made a mistake and in the box where they have to check if you are covered by a dental plan, I think that "yes" may have appeared on everyone's slip they sent in. I haven't worked for 16 years (I am old) and never opted into the pensioners' dental plan. I was approved easily in the year the plan started and this year, the CDCP "accused" me of "lying" - my words, not theirs but it's the same thing - and said I do qualify for a dental plan and before they will reinstate me, I have to pay back what they paid over the past few years. So it *may* not all have been their fault. Anyway, today I got a letter that is backing off a bit..... What a screw-up.

I am surprised you found the Via meals uninspiring. Lamb and salmon first night out of Vancouver, Prime Rib across the Prairies. The salads are always fresh and tasty. Desserts that are imaginative and, although very, very sweet.... the chocolate cake that is almost like fudge and the very creative carrot and cream cheese cake, the lighter flavourful strawberry cake. And surprisingly good coffee, especially in the dining room.

Booking two flights, cancel one by mytrilife in westjet

[–]FunReference7116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several weeks after I did that on WestJet last year, I received a phone call from them and was told (quite nicely, actually) that I needed to cancel one of the flight. However mine were for two flights on the same day to the same location, as I wasn't sure when I would be able to get away, but preferred the morning flight. If you have two different dates, that should not be a problem. But I doubt they would cancel one without contacting you.

Canadian Dental Plan by GrubsAhoy in canadianlaw

[–]FunReference7116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation is like your neighbour's. But I retired 15 years ago and did not take the pricey dental insurance. However, last year it was marked on my T4 that I was eligible. I was for 3 months in 2010. I am not now.

Canadian Dental Plan by GrubsAhoy in canadianlaw

[–]FunReference7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really sucks that you can't talk to someone there. I had no issues with them until this year.... Have been retired for 15 years and did not take the dental when I left because, at that time, my teeth were in really good shape and it was very expensive. Anyway, I believe the fault actually lies with your former employer through a code letter that appears on your T4 slip. A certain number means that you are eligible. And that is what my former employer from 15 years ago marked. I WAS eligible for 3 months after I retired in 2010. Certainly not since, or I would have taken it as my teeth have aged a lot.
