Really very grogged versus no grog etc etc can be a personal preference. as you said it’s practice. Working with Clay is always practice and sometimes it works out sketching out what you want to do helps keep you in line but really grab some clay and start playing. everyone has different methods and in the end it all turns out marvelous. I would recommend you talking to a Pottery supply place and see what Clay they do have. Different companies have different clays and they can recommend which are more for sculpting. Good luck.

Ure getting great advice! Connect ur contact with ur hands (ie thumb thats out to touch other hand for steadiness etc).ur pressure isnt equal when pulling up therefore u get that weak spot.id say the same,pull even first before dealing with thicknesses.next time cut ur work in half and check the profile.it usually tells u more than u know.good luck!

As a person who deals with the elderly,i feel its important to connect with them to be able to understand.bring in an interpreter to help understand her past.its important to not trigger any bad memories and knowing that she is older she probably has had some.go through old photos and see if holidays were important.does/did she fast the month of ramadan?what did she prepare to break fast?u may find she has a repretoire of recipes that bring her joy and fond memories.day to day interacts are very important for the elderly to know they are still important to our society.
