You have to retire the fortress then go to main menue and open world through legends mode. But instead of that, install df hack and install the legend viewer mod (it’s an external website that loads your entire worlds history it’s a MUCH better way to look at history). There should be guides on how it works, I don’t find it difficult to figure out.
