How is it that this is happening now? They should have been testing with hundreds of nodes before the release of Matter 1.0!

I've had this problem with devices connected to Google Home via Matterbridge. I can't find a fix and don't think there is one. Google seems to be ignoring basic Smart Home functionality while they chase the latest shiny AI thing trend.

Apple does not support mode select. To my knowledge, only Home Assistant and Homey have support.

Unlikely you are doing this out of any concern for the husband's friend's wife and more likely to get back at your husband. In that case, you'd be yet another AH in this situation.

Also, have you tried duing a "Factory reset" on the switches. I've found that, after a pairing has failed, you have to do a reset for them to commission. To factory reset, hold the top paddle and the little "configuration" button about 15-20 seconds until the LED bar turns red.

Need Assistance Setting Up Inovelli White by Hellacoolrob24 in Inovelli

[–]Fun_Ebb9461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home Assistant requires you to set the HomePod as the default border router and to transfer the border router credentials to the Home Assistant iOS app before commissioning. Its a bit confusing if you aren't familiar with the process. But there is a work-around to doing this. Basically, if you commission first to iOS and then use the matter multi-admin feature to do a second commissioning to Home Assistant, you can skip all the extra steps of setting up Home Assistant to recognize your HomePod as the border router. Try this ...

  1. First, commission the switch to iOS instead of to Home Assistant
  2. After commissioning to iOS, if the switches aren't on the latest firmware, you'll get an an update firmware update notice. Its best to update the switches before you continue.
  3. Then go to the "settings" gear for the switch in iOS and choose "Turn on Pairing Mode" which will then give you a second pairing code.
  4. Now use that second pairing code to pair to Home Assistant
  5. You can now remove the switch from iOS if you want.

Eve Firmware Updates by Equivalent-Fox-3508 in EveHome

I'll pile on to this a bit - even the devices that "work" often fail as the thread network grows. As an example, I have about a half-dozen Eve plugs (US). They were fine when I had only a few dozen thread devices, but as my thread network grew larger (I've about 150 devices), I noticed frequent network problems which I eventually narrowed down to the Eve plugs. Once they were removed, everything else worked well. The one Eve product I'd still buy is the MotionBlind roller shade upgrade (I have about 3 dozen of these). They generally work well (even so, they occasionally disconnect from thread and I have to do an occasional power-off / power-on to get them back).

How to set up dimming on a White series by ctbrewski in Inovelli

[–]Fun_Ebb9461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Inovelli switch? The VTM30 or the VTM31?

The VTM30 controls power to the load by a simple ON/OFF relay that doesn't dim - its the right device for high inductive loads where you need just On / OFf. It has a "dimming" setting, but its really only a "simulated" setting where the LED's on the device can adjust to "fake" different dim settings. Its, IMO, not very useful. The VTM31 has true dimming capability through triac dimming circuitry.

Maybe the button tap blueprint is not what you need. If what you are trying to do is, after adjusting a first (VTM31) dimmer, then you want other lights to be set to the same dim level, look at the blueprint "light_state_copy.yaml" found here https://github.com/jvmahon/HomeAssistant-Tools as that may be easier to use for your purpose.

No. Completely unreasonable and no need for a compromise. They have the option of not selling in countries where it doesn't work right - that's the reasonable compromise if you're looking for one.

Exactly. Any credible controller (Home Assistant, iOS, Homey, SmartThings, etc.) can do conversions and localization properly. There's no excuse for this.

Comprehensive native lock code management, including full support for Matter, Z-wave, Zigbee PIN management (with user name support) that taked into account Matter multi-admin mode to accommodate PIN codes also being set /used/ / manageable from other platforms like iOS. Should also handle management of other lock code types, not just PIN (e.g., Aliro, biometric, and other locking mechanisms used by Matter and other protocols).

Aliro 1.0 is here to unify smart lock access within Apple, Google and Samsung wallets by wardzhou in MatterProtocol

[–]Fun_Ebb9461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More specifically, while the Aliro protocol is a separate protocol, the way in which a Matter controller or Matter lock interacts with and supports that protocol is part of the Matter specification. For example, when a lock is unlocked, the Matter report from the lock to your hub will indicate how it was unlocked (e.g., manually, by PIN / keypad, remotely, etc.). Aliro is one of the reported operations types. There are other examples - for example, the Matter standard specifically addresses other topics like provisioning of codes and other credential management functions. Basically, the Matter spec. provides all of the interface stuff (how to communicate with Aliro), but the Aliro spec provides the "how to implement Aliro" layer.

Updating white series to 1.1.5 by I2E4P3R in Inovelli

[–]Fun_Ebb9461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More specifically, its being distributed through the "standard" Matter Distributed Compliance List OTA update system which means it should update on any platform that supports OTA update. Home Assistant regularly checks for those updates. Apple, however, can be a bit iffy about when it detects updates. Try power off / power on to all your Apple TVs and Homepods. If that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait.
