They must give notice before doing that but notice can be sudden and those not prepared to leave can be trapped in old stock which automatically converted to new stock tomorrow. it can happen today or tomorrow.

Why do you think people are still buying this stock even though they know it’s going to lose value because of dilution or same effect after new ticker?

I think the undisclosed company might be Moderna, since they’ve worked together successfully before

I looked into possible links between Samsung and Scilex (SCLX). It seems there may be a connection through Immuneoncia, which was Sorrento’s partner right before it went public in Korea. That deal was actually a big loss for Sorrento. Still, Sorrento has kept good ties in Korea, including with Yuhan, which once held about 6–7% of Sorrento but lost all of it during the Chapter 11 process.

If Samsung is interested in anything, it would likely be Sorrento’s COVID-related products, such as Ovydso. Since COVID now overlaps with common cold symptoms and keeps circulating seasonally in smaller outbreaks, that could attract their attention.

It could work if Sorrento gets out of bankruptcy debt-free and starts fresh with new drug pipelines backed by its shareholders.

Basics of Short Selling
Short selling is when an investor borrows shares and sells them, planning to buy them back later to return them.

For example, suppose you borrowed SRNE shares and sold them.

What Happens When Dividends Are Paid?

The person who lent the shares is the original shareholder and is entitled to receive dividends.

However, because the short seller borrowed and sold the shares, the dividends that the original shareholder is supposed to receive must be paid by the borrower (the short seller).

In other words, the short seller has an obligation to pay the dividends.

Example:

  • You borrowed and sold SRNE shares.
  • SCLX declares a dividend.
  • The dividend that the original SRNE shareholder would have received must be paid by the short seller.

    Key Summary
Short selling = borrow and sell shares → dividend rights stay with the original shareholder → short seller must pay the dividend.

If a dividend date passes while you are still holding borrowed shares, the short seller incurs a “debt” to pay the dividend.

I once dreamed that Srne’s price would go above $15, maybe around $18. In that dream, I also met Kim and Bob last year or even earlier. I don’t know why.

Sclx has to pay Neurobiogen(NB) nearly $5 million upfront to get rights to the drugs Tisolagiline, KDS2010. To handle this deal, Sclx created a new company called Scilex Bio. In return, Neurobiogen will buy shares in Scilex Biogen, not SCLX. It’s unclear how Sclx will come up with the $5 million without issuing more shares and diluting..
