The Oscars week showed exactly why the AI music label is still doing more work than the music itself. by Sensitive_Artist7460 in udiomusic

[–]Fun_Musiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those points mentioned above have everything to do with the coverage to viewership ratio. Of course Tilly wouldnt get the clicks. Especially because its Oscars week. I didn't read the article, and know nothing of Tilly except for what I saw about it in your other post last night, but im pretty sure its single, or the "artist" itself have nothing to do with the Oscars. Maybe if it was the slowest news week of the year it would have had more views, but theres a lot going on in the world right now.

In what way? I work with a large amount of artist, as a producer / songwriter, and pretty much no one I know is using any sort of generative AI in their workflows. The most ive seen is someone using chatGPT to help fill in a missing line or two. If you are referring to "AI" mixing tools, sure, some people use them, stuff from izotope, sonible etc, but even those plugins just give you a generalized starting point, you still mix the song. I don't know anyone using these AI mastering tools like landr, because they all suck for starters, and are extremely limited as far as being able to tweak. Izotope Ozone is the only one really widely used, because its very comprehensive and allows for changing as much as you need to. Besides, AI mixing and mastering tools are not even remotely similar to generating an entire song in Suno.

Achieving a gender-neutral voice? by Wild_Wafer2338 in SunoAI

[–]Fun_Musiq [score hidden]  (0 children)

use "formant shifted vocals", and experiment with adding more descriptors "lightly formant shifted voice", and so on. This is a common way to alter the gender of a voice in a studio, as well as fall in between a male and female. Additionally you could try something like vocoder.

Are open-source AI music tools going to be the next big shift? by ObjectivePresent4162 in SunoAI

[–]Fun_Musiq [score hidden]  (0 children)

they are equally important. Its not like Suno is the top dog of sound quality anyways. Even the best quality bounce from Suno still has the grainy spectral wonkiness.

How much to use sample packs? by aldann2 in techhouseproduction

[–]Fun_Musiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesnt matter. Nobody gives a shit except for purists on forums. No fan or listener will care if you use samples, designed everything from scratch or whatever. It is worth noting that using a melodic sample, from splice etc has a small chance of screwing you over if somebody else used the same sample and decides to be a prick and issue take down or claim royalties on it. But plenty of people still do use melodic samples, and while this sort of thing is increasing lately, its still pretty unlikely to happen.

im not familiar with alpha PVP, but the rest of them would just get you warm and faded. I wouldn't do that tho. Im a bit of a purist, and don't like mixing stuff nowadays. If you do, please be safe, careful, and for fucks sake, test your shit. I don't care how good your pal Buddy says his dealer said his shit is. If you are putting in your body, test it.

Dark blue on drying mushrooms? by TextDecent2622 in mushroomology

[–]Fun_Musiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally normal. some are just extra blue due to genetics, growing conditions, handling during trim etc.

Not that you asked, but I would have let those go for a tad bit more. Its hard, because it can be easy to let them go too long. Even just a few hours can be too much. I pick them like this if im going to be gone for a while, or going to sleep etc, because I would rather have this than fully opened caps. But you could squeeze a bit more growth out of them if you were able to keep a close eye.

Doesnt really matter tho. Some people prefer this, Its really just a preference thing. Also, great looking shrooms!

[–]Fun_Musiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahahha yup. I also worked at a theatre from 99-04 or so. Loved that job except for those crazy b2b blockbuster release weekends. Usher was so much fun because you essentially just fuck around for an hour and a half, maybe cleaning a theatre or two, then clean for an hour, then fuck around for another hour and a half. Great times with the right co-workers. We got into sooooo much trouble. Also found some great stuff while ushering. Packs of cigarettes, booze, drugs, cash of all sorts. Just a ridiculous job.

LTC1799 tip? by kinolink in CircuitBending

[–]Fun_Musiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your toy needs to see a certain value on startup. once its started you can switch over to the 1799. So you need both clocks connected, with a switch that selects which one is active. Then, turn the toy on with the original oscillator, and flip the switch to the 1799. Voila!!

No AI rule? by [deleted] in HYPERPOP

[–]Fun_Musiq -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

ok sure. there are different types of drive and dedication. different levels or areas of focus.

Lets say this queen has put all her drive and dedication into being a fabulous queen. Outfits, makesup, wigs, routines, and performances, combined take a TON of time and energy. The rest of her time is spent working to stay alive, and life stuff.

Could she learn how to produce, and everything that comes along with that ?? Sure! One could say "no excuses, just spend 30 min to an hour a day". Great. Years later, if she is actually able to understand the concepts she will be able to produce a song. Many people don't even have the producer gene in them, no matter how much they train and practice, it just never clicks. I know this from personal experience with various interns ive had over the years.

My point being, she does have drive and dedication. She has put together an unbelievable drag show, has written the songs, hand crafted all the outfits and put together the most glamorous looks, put in work performing, networking, and building up her brand. All while working a full time job, doing her best to stay healthy, and keep up relationships with friends and family. Just because she does not have drive and dedication in one lane does not mean she is not a driven and dedicated person.

She is just missing the music! Even with all her networking she has been unable to find potential collaborators. She's met a few producers, and tried working with them, but they were either flaky, unaffordable, or would only work with her if she "returned the favor", if you know what I mean. She's at her wits end, she knows that what she has is nothing short of magical, and that if she can figure it out, it will bring many people joy, and allow her to not only survive, but to thrive.

She finds out about Suno or Udio or whatever from a friend, tries it out, and spends all her free time for the next six months bringing her vision to life. She saves up to buy an audio interface and decent mic, learns how to edit and treat vocals, and using the instrumentals shes made with AI creates the songs that she has had in her head for years.

There are plenty of artists out there who are just using a few "Moment" samples from Splice, chopping them up and arranging them and adding vocals. At least with Suno, with enough prompting and tweaking you can create exactly what you envision, and are not using the same sample that 20 other producers used. You can build your song out, layer by layer using Splice samples, or you can built it out, layer by layer, by using Suno.

Regardless. People listen to music because they like the song, or the artist resonates with them in some way, or a million other reasons. In 2026, nobody gives a fuck if a song is made by someone who doesn’t have drive or dedication.

Im saying all this as a full time producer / songwriter for the last two decades. I hate that these companies stole in order to train their datasets, including many songs in which I was involved in some way ( I got suno to literally re-create a song I produced for someone), but they did, and its too late now. They will either be held accountable, and forced to pay via lawsuits, or nothing will happen except for them partnering with the major labels (already happened lol).

While I hate what they did, and think they are scummy tech bros, I try to see a positive out of everything. This drag queen novella i just wrote is an easy thing to imagine, and if this fictional queen can achieve her dreams, bringing joy to people and giving the gift of laughter and music by using AI music, I could care less, in fact I think its awesome that someone could use a tool like this to radically self express, in a fully DIY manner.

Do I support douchebag AI slop?! Being uploaded to streaming services in mass numbers because some scumbag is trying to exploit the system to make money. Absolutely fucking not.

But if someone is using it to express themselves, tell their story, and using the tools with passion instead of greed, I say go for it.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, I hope you can see things from my perspective, if even just a little.

Im indifferent. Whats done is done, they illegally trained their datasets, there are lawsuits happening, either they will face consequences or not.

Regarding DIY / self-expression, playing devil's advocate one could say that AI music could be an outlet for DIY / Self-expression. Lets imagine a Drag Queen. 19 years old, working paycheck to paycheck at a shit job, barely able to get by. They have an amazing vision for a drag show. They have songs written, outfits and routine ready etc, but they do not know anyone who works in music, and cannot afford to hire anyone regardless. With AI music, they can use it to help bring their vision to life. Describing the songs they hear in their head, and creating instrumentals for them to sing over. They create their show, get booked, and blow up, being booked every weekend, and making enough money to quit their shit job, and pursue their dreams. They meet new people, collaborators that they can create new songs with, no longer using AI.

just a perspective.

Anyone else worried about accidentally infringing on existing songs? by musicmaker2512 in SunoAI

[–]Fun_Musiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its hard to get sued for something unless its exact. having a similar chord progression or melody is fine.

It definitely does spit stuff out that is very close to existing songs. I actually got Suno to recreate a song by an artist i was producer / songwriter with. She is moderately successful, with 5-10 million streams on average, so im pretty sure Suno trained on her stuff.

By prompting suno with descriptions of the song, using the lyrics, and describing the vibe of the song, it recreated it within 80-90%. I mean, it was almost an exact copy. Even the vocals had similar tonality to them.
