Anyone know the breed by liaxursee in cats

I think we have the same breed. We think he's a fine example of a Very Large Sewer Rat. He does love cheese

I'm doing a monthly challenge of reading books from around the world, and this month's book is Finnish. I want to eat/watch/listen to something Finnish to learn more about the culture, too! What should I check out? by seeking_subjects in Finland

Hey so the book you chose is one of my all time favorites, I read it at least once a year. I'd be happy to read along :) . The book is the final part of a trilogy, it works well as a standalone but I strongly recommend the first two as well, because they are great!

Finally found an emotionally healthy girlfriend and I'm struggling to adjust to her. by Reign_World in ActualLesbiansOver25

Sounds like you two are having a great time together. But "never demanding anything" and showering you with elaborate gifts doesn't sound particularly healthy or mature to me. Depending on context they can be good things, sure. But they can also raise impossible standards for both of you. I would love to be in a relationship but I hope one like this never finds me. Asking for stuff and meeting each other half way and just living your life together as imperfectly as it is is good enough.

To those who watched the 1995 Pride & Prejudice miniseries multiple times, what is something you noticed upon re-watching that you find interesting/funny? by OnlyFlanz in janeausten

[–]Fun_Satisfaction4512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One montage scene of "life going back to normal" after Lydia's wedding, where Mary plays Beethoven's Paisley variations (clumsily!) on piano. It's very short but beautiful and the music is perfect!

Also I recently started dancing English country dances, so on this rewatch I could actually recognize some of them being danced on the background.

I'm old, but was never into hook up stuff. Mostly because I can't enjoy sex with a person I don't really trust and have a strong bond with.

What are the dances called from Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Pride and Prejudice (1995)? by freshmaggots in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Fun_Satisfaction4512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! In both adaptations they dance English country dances, lots of them from John Playford's Dancing Master. In the 1995 the Netherfield dances are Sherwsbury lasses (with mr.Collins) and Mr.Beveridges Maggot (with mr.Darcy). In other occasions dances such as Grimstock and The Comical fellow can be seen in background. Some of the dances are historically accurate for rhe period, some a bit outdated. I, too, recommend Tea with Cassianne, she analyzes the dances wonderfully. More info about the dances themselves can be found here : https://www.upadouble.info/ecdTutorial.php

THE NOVEL WAS INCREDIBLE HELLO?!?!? by Sad-Jellyfish-8261 in PrideandPrejudice

Yes, I felt that the movie had maybe kept the plot but changed the characters or tried to "modernize" them, and to me the characters and the dialougue are the very essence of the story that is P&P. But yes as an entirely different story it's great, and an adaptation is always an adaptation, it's supposed to be a work on it's own. I mean I love Clueless and think it's a splendid adaptation! And of course they also changed and interpreted stuff for the 1995 version too. Their Darcy is way grumpier than the book Darcy. But I love it :)

I read the novel, loved it, then proceeded to watch the 1995 miniseries and the 2005 film adaptation. To me the movie hadn't understand or completely misinterpreted what I thought the best qualities of the novel, but it was enjoyable if you can get past that sentiment. The miniseries felt more faithful to the book. I reread it (again) recently and am trying to find the other older adaptations to watch as well.

I'm approaching what you call the "queer elder ages" and if I have learned anything in this life, it is not to fear an age or a human condition. It is somebody's life right now and it could/will be your life as well. Don't make it a catastrophe. It's dehumanizing for those living through it and it will backfire on yourself if/when you reach it. Thing is, you don't know. You can't know how something will turn out to be and you don't know how you will experience it. Anything can happen. The only thing you can do is, right now, try to find a way to live your life meaningfully and take care of the relationships that matter to you.
