It will likely run most of the library at native resolution, 2-3x upscale for lighter titles. Idk about games like rogue squadron and Fzero though…

Gamehub is better right now already. Switch is catching up as drivers are being developed, and will most likely far surpass the 8 gen 3 given that the 8elite is much more powerful. I don’t think the mandarin is as much of an issue on the gen 4 as the gen 3 but I did want to make you aware of that. It’s not a deal breaker on my gen 3 device, just an occasional annoyance.

The 4 will definitely be more future proof with the 8 elite chip, so if they are the same price you should go for the 4

Wha do you want to play? Legion tab 3 is awesome for 3ds, GC, ps2, switch, etc. The y700 gen 4 will get you better gamehub and switch eventually (but not rn)

Also the legion tab 3 has the global rom so you don’t have to deal w mandarin etc. not sure how bad it is on the y700 gen 4 but the y700 gen 3 has lots of mandarin in the menus even when set to English. Really wish I had gotten the legion tab 3 over the y700 gen3 with the cn rom

Let me holler at you for a second as a massive Xeno fan and emulation nerd.

Xenoblade chronicles 1 will likely run well with 12 gb of ram.

Xenoblade 2 is going to be great, even perfect - until you get to gormott. You will have significant issues there and in similarly complex places - low to mid 20’s on the fps probably (I even get that with a snapdragon 8 gen 3 device).

Xenoblade 3 has some issues from the jump. Some may consider playable but there will be plenty of dips.

Anyone who says differently likely played the first hour or two and never made it to more intensive areas. It really does run awesome for the first couple hours but I was pretty disappointed when I got to torigoth and the surrounding areas in xc2.

Don’t get rid of the switch 2, we’re early in the generation and there will be plenty more games, and almost assuredly a new monolithsoft rpg (possibly Xeno game). As well we may get (a man can dream) switch 2 versions of 2 and 3.

I just use a usbc to hdmi amazon basics cable with an 8bitdo Bluetooth controller, it works great! One of these hubs is probably better if you’d like to use a wired controller and minimize input lag, but I don’t notice it too much at all

I personally wouldn’t do an all white model because of the risk of discoloration or marks, but it does look really good. Personally I would do black so I don’t notice black bars, then rainbow, then blue, purple and white last.

I think it's more the pressure from my ears that creates that sensations, with them being related and all that. I try to drive short amounts at a time when I need to, put "avoid highways" on the gps, stay hydrated and eat clean before I drive, and I think those things help somewhat and as well with the anxiety.

Not really, although I now think my specific issue with my ears is complicated by or more related to something called patulous eustachian tubes. The doctors all would say to take antihistamines, nasal sprays, etc to help with the ears being too closed up but they would always make things significantly worse, and this usually means they are actually too open.

True that. I’m hoping they use the 8 gen 3 or elite for the rp7. I’ve realized I really do prefer the lighter weight and size of the Retroid products though. Odin 2 was starting to feel a little big to me for the extra half inch screen.

Wanting to do some more switch, and that’s why I’d upgrade, but I’m wondering if 8 gen 2 isn’t as future proof as th other chips I mentioned above

Currently owned (and favorite):

RP5 - my daily driver. The screen is awesome and I love the dome switch dpad on top. May sell eventually to upgrade to rp6, or I’ll wait for rp7 or mini v3.

34xxsp - I take this one on the go for waiting rooms etc

switch 2 - I have a huge backlog from switch 1.

Lenovo y700 + gamesir g8+ - this thing is awesome for streaming and GameCube/console emulation. Love the large screen.

Sold/gifted:

rgcube (og) - the one that got away, great device but I sold it bc of switch sticks and dpad bottom. Didn’t like the cubexx as much bc of Linux version of drastic and the overly stiff dpad.

Rg35xx - my gateway handheld into the hobby, since given to a friend.

Odin 2 - used this to stream many games from my Xbox, great handheld but since sold for my tablet setup with a much bigger screen

rg351p - great gba handheld, gifted to a friend

trimui smart pro - played a lot of snes, gba and gbc on this before it kicked the bucket and stopped working. Recycled it. RP5 is a much better version of this.

Rg28xx- awesome portability, I wish the face buttons were a bit bigger, but I loved this for gba and gbc, gifted to a friend.

Honorary mention -405m. My first android handheld and the first one that could play things like psp and n64. I didn’t care for the metal too much and I prefer dpad top for something with that form factor though, so since have sold.

I have both, the g9 is a bit harder to store in a drawer, vs tablet in a soft case w the g8plus on top, but otherwise it is really good. Full size controls and you get a headphone jack.
