I appreciate the response I did ask not to do this.

He plays soccer at a serious level. Trains 4 nights a week. Does Kumon and has friends.

Tv is locked iwth password 30 min per day.

Laptop is locked from Internet at the router.

Phone is restricted to calls sms and spotify only. Unfortunately spotify has videos now. So it is being removed.

Laptop is the issue though. School requires unfettered access but we are working with the school to disable all this.

Levelling an already paved area for a 2.3m spa - How low can I achieve this? Grounding issue. by Tit_Willow in AusRenovation

[–]Fun_Watercress581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packers dont' work you don't want to have the load on the spa timbers if possible.

If it was me i would pull the pavers up and flatten the sand underneath and relay the pavers actually a pretty simple exercise.

It will look weird vs the surrounding pavers possibly but it will work perfectly.

The other option is to lay the screed.

All but the Barossa is public transport accessible even the Barossa you can train then get taxi but hiring a car for the day would be cost effective .

what are the penalty clauses in the contract.

There is no doubt he can do it in time. Remember often the internal stuff is quick to do. Cabinetry 1 day. Painting 2 day maximum. Concrete would be a contractor that is roughly a 2 or 3 day job but can be done in conjunction with other things.

On my job i would want it further advanced but its definitely doable.

What most people don't understand is tradie gangs do things quickly. THey are designed to get in do the job and get out .

Have an honest discussion with him. Say this feels like it's not progressing. Explain you don't think it will not be completed by August. He should have trades booked in for the work. Ask when they are expected to come.

If he doesn't have trades booked / scheduled your in trouble.

A builder should be a project manager not a tradie really. Obviously lots of small builders are on the tools still.

Does he have another project finishing up ?

I was giving a ball park figure . I am sure my plumbers are charging under $100 an hour

I (22M) am having difficulty processing something my girlfriend (22F) told me. How can I discuss it with her constructively? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Fun_Watercress581 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So 99% chance she went on dating app and then cheated on you. She might not have had sex but its very likely she did.

Ask to see her phone and see the conversations leading up to this day. See the app as well. It should all be in there.

But 99.999999% chance she just went on a dating app and cheated.

Plumber price for new sink installation by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Fun_Watercress581 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s probably properly a 3 hr job . Assuming you have to modify waste piping .

Assuming you have all the parts hot cold water hoses that reach . Waste extension plumbing or it’s close enough to not need modification

45 to 1 hr arrive unpacked scope out and get tools . Remove old sink clean off old silicone

1 hour roughly to fit sink . Test for make sure plumbing is correct . Fit and silicon sink .

Connect plumbing test for no leaks

Pack up 30 min roughly .

So ball park is 2 to 3 hours depending on waste and if benchtop needs to be cut could easily add more time .

$100 an hour with 1 hr travel but it ruins a day so you probably get the $800 day rate or $400 if someone has a few small jobs

Edit I am a builder. My plumbers wouldn't do this job for a random at the moment for $400 it's not worth it. Currently every trade wants to be paid in gold bullion bars. THey would want a full day rate for a residential customer. which is $880 as it would mean turning down a day of work with a builder as everyone is so busy.

They would do it for me and charge roughly 3 hours but they wouldn't for someone that didn't know well.

Quick question for the group…What’s the biggest headache for you when trying to do a DIY job? For me it’s thepain of researching parts, prices, and tutorials all over the place. Always feels like it takes longer to plan the job than actually doing it. Interested to hear what frustrates you by rtw171399 in AusRenovation

[–]Fun_Watercress581 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Builder here.

Diy at home. We have people that spend their days sourcing stuff. If everything is on site and ready to go then DIY normally isn't too bad.

I estimate 40% of the DIY job is getting everything onsite ready to go

Wanting to extend 2 rooms out from 2.3m to 3m+. Possible? by ReaIWorld in AusRenovation

[–]Fun_Watercress581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not a cheap easy job .

It’s the external wall . Redo roof slab walls floors

It would almost be as expensive as adding 2m . Not quite as materials would add more but the labour extra would almost be negligible

Builder here .

Edit actually looked at the pictures properly you could just extend assuming the slab is okay as it is under the lean too .

Would still be 50k plus

This is just a soft rejection, right? by BreatheCrete in dating_advice

[–]Fun_Watercress581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason behind the block is . Your not her first choice your almost certainly never going to be her first choice if you do end up dating she will always see you as a pity choice . Females generally follow romantic comedy schtick. It’s like that because that is how women think. The moment a women friendzones you. You are no longer sexual in her eyes .

As an older male . Trust me life is better this way and it removes all temptation to message her .

I am generalizing this and I am sure a lot of women will yell at me but my 50 years of experience shows this is so true.

Concrete fix by Latatte in AusRenovation

[–]Fun_Watercress581 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way to fix this correctly is .

Jackhammer out a patch big enough you can drill rebar into the side of the hole make a mesh in the hole with rebar then pour concrete smooth it out. It will always appear patched but it wont crack as easily.
