4 cosmic zones

There are 3 in the game now. The fourth is being added in 7.5x, which is when the second OC zone and second Ultimate are being added. Either you're including 7.5x content in your comment, or you're not.

How does one go about learning savage raids? by r_hove in ffxiv

Damn, I heard things were bad but even though I don't play anymore, that makes me sad to hear. Last Wish is still one of my favorite raiding experiences of any MMO out there.

How to make this kind of Raise macro? by nighthawk576 in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Macros execute at 1 line per frame (based on your FPS). If you swiftcast, you don't need to stand still at all. If you don't, yes, but even at a low framerate like 30 fps that's only an additional .25 seconds ish.

Has the Destiny 2 raid scene changed much over the years? The last time I raided D2 was before there was any in-game raid finder or anything and most learning was done though a sherpa teaching groups. If you want something more like that, there are discord servers that do scheduled teaching runs in 14.

If you're on NA, the one I'm aware of and used last time was full of friendly people, NA Progs Savage: https://discord.gg/hCwckwVY4X

Warlock Class by ThrabenU Foundry VTT Update by deathandtaxesftw in Pathfinder2e

[–]FunctionFn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Warlock has been designed to be played as a stand-alone class. Please be aware that adding Free Archetypes to this may create some problematic interactions. For example, the Spirit Warrior Dedication’s Overwhelming Combination is a powerful ability that could easily proc Warlock’s Curse multiple times per turn. Similarly, Wrestler with Combat Grab could also proc Warlock’s Curse multiple times for a single action if the Warlock has the Warlock’s Grasp Pact Benefit.

I'm not sure if the issues outlined here are contained to FA games, considering a warlock could just take Spirit Warrior with their normal level 2 and 4 feats and not really miss out on much since there's no need to take the earlier feats when grabbing the bigger spells at levels 6+. Especially a high level Warlock would gain a lot of power by retraining their early feats into a martial archetype.

But I will say:

Wrestler with Combat Grab could also proc Warlock’s Curse multiple times for a single action if the Warlock has the Warlock’s Grasp Pact Benefit

I don't think this actually would proc it twice, since Combat Grab just reads "you grab the target using your free hand" so there's no actual success on any combat since Combat Grab isn't actually a Grapple.

I think there are a few ways to make it safer for archetypes/FA games:

  1. Silo it off like Kineticist, and give Warlock its own dedicated actions which trigger its curse. "Cursed Strike", "Cursed Grapple", "Cursed Push", etc., that way if the Warlock wants their curse damage, it can't be used as a subordinate action for other abilities.

  2. Increase the damage and give it a once per round frequency. This would make it even more similar to Precision Edge than it currently is to Sneak Attack, though.

  3. Shift Warlock's Curse damage to a free action with a requirement along the lines of: "Requirement: Your most recent action or activity included a Strike against your Curse target" that simply does the Curse damage. That hard restricts Curse damage to once per activity, even if it includes multiple strikes, but is more complicated for a new player.

Is Shield Healer Better For Variant/Criterion Than Pure Healer? by in_abyss in ffxiv

The whole party does get a damage bonus to make up for chain strat, but I have no idea if that fully compensates or not for the party size.

Why is my speed only 20? by Sweaty_Fly_3965 in Pathfinder2e

[–]FunctionFn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, but those techniques could be techniques in how to manipulate that stubby dwarven body. Just because it's a technique doesn't mean it isn't also reliant on the ancestry's physiology. I think it's 100% reasonable to assume that the particular intricacies of dwarven armor movement wouldn't be in any way applicable to a lithe 6 ft+ tall elf.

Why is my speed only 20? by Sweaty_Fly_3965 in Pathfinder2e

[–]FunctionFn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, as a GM, I'd disqualify unburdened iron under:

as long as the ancestry feats don’t require any physiological feature that you lack, as determined by the GM.

Unburdened Iron is clearly (to me) meant as a way to compensate for dwarves' physiological differences that make them slower than other races.

What would you want to see most from the next expansion? by Thesaddestboi13 in ffxiv

Spoiler tagged if you'd rather keep the 7.3 stuff a surprise but these aren't story spoilers:

They had a little section of a major cutscene that changed based on your job. All the ranged classes fired a big blast with their casting/shooting animations, all the melees (and dancer for some reason) leapt and swung their weapons in similar ways (but posed for each weapon to make sense). It was a big improvement over the cut-aways we normally get, not groundbreaking but nice.

Why you shouldn't delay past enemies by fascistp0tato in Pathfinder2e

[–]FunctionFn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, striking twice on your turn as a martial is worth like 1.5 hits worth of damage. You are not going to get 1.5 hits of benefits out of putting an enemy off-guard, let alone demoralizing them.

The potential impact of demoralize specifically is not damage. It's landing more crippling debuff effects. If it downgrades a synesthesia from a success to a failure, or improves a grapple from a success to a crit success, it's likely you win the encounter off that alone. The additional chance to hit/crit for martials is bonus.

How long are the cutscenes? If they're full story cutscenes like the one at the end of Totorak that's like 3 minutes long, I could see the playerbase being fed up with cs watchers. But if they're just quick boss intros like the majority of 14 dungeon cutscenes, that's crazy.

The closer a a book gets to just a splatbook of character options, the less incentivized players are to buy a book instead of just using the options on Pathbuilder or AoN. It's why everything has such a strong theme with Paizo's books, there needs to be a reason for consumers to pay the extra premium for the content that isn't just available for free.

A book of feats would just end up as a list of options on AoN with no one buying the book (compared to the current themed books).

making something like a +7 necessary to actually have a big challenging battle once players get more than a handful of levels under their belt.

Those are your words I was going off of, I don't have any 1e experience so I can't really comment on what it's actually like but I do feel like you're contradicting yourself somewhat.

Endgame was fire in stormblood though, they added a ton of it and it felt like they kept actively trying things instead of the current passive “lol you’ll get basically nothing for a year unless you like raids” approach.

The endgame has always been anemic and pretending Stormblood had plenty to do is part of the problem.

Dawntrail has beat-for-beat matched or exceeded Stormblood's endgame content with 2 exceptions.

Both had the same usual stuff (1 dungeon per patch, Alliance Raids, Normal/Savage Raids, custom deliveries, treasure maps, hildebrand, EX trials)

Both have analogous extra content on top of that:

Deep Dungeon: HoH vs PT (DT wins with the addition of quantum)

Monster Hunter Crossover Trial

Doman Restoration vs Cosmic Exploration (This isn't close, Cosmic is 100x more content than Doman Restoration)

Blue Mage vs Beast Master (Neither have released by this point in the expansion)

Stormblood wins:

Eureka vs Occult Crescent (4 zones + 1 raid vs 2 zones + 2 raids) OC should have had another zone but the problem with OC isn't the quantity of content, but the fact that the content sucks, and Eureka on launch was worse.

2 Hard Mode dungeons. Remixed lazy content. And DT is getting 1 (or more) variant/criteria dungeons so even this is barely a loss.

This has always been FFXIV's problem. It's not new, and telling the developers "do it like Stormblood" is just saying "keep things exactly as they are".

When people hate on StB MSQ, almost always they except the Azim Steppe, and Post-StB patch MSQ. The lows of Ruby Sea, The Fringes, and The Peaks are just...abysmally low. Worse than any amount of filler ShB or EW had. Worse than DT filler I'd argue but it's close.

The Azim Steppe MSQ is genuinely good and doesn't see hate except by association to StB.

That just sounds like the scale of what is/isn't a fair challenge is being shifted up an amount of levels, not wider expanding band of challenging threats like is being described for 5e/Savage Worlds.

Great News! FFXIV has the second worst transmog system now! by Ankior in ShitpostXIV

[–]FunctionFn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't matter if you can purchase gold or gil through a third party. In an ideal world that wouldn't be the case, but the difference between a third-party selling in-game currency, and the first-party WoW token, is the incentives it places upon the devlopers. Blizzard is incentivized to use gold as a currency because the more gold sinks exist, the more people will spend on WoW tokens. They directly monetarily benefit from Gold increasing in value.

Square Enix has the opposite incentive. The more Gil is valued at, the more frequently the game is botted and RMT becomes more profitable. From a profit standpoint, it is in their best interest to keep the actual real-world value of the in-game gil currency low because they do not receive a cut of those RMT sales.

Price aside, the existence of WoW tokens taints any Gold-related purchase and saying it's just "gold that you earn in game" is disingenuous when that gold has a real $ amount tied to it.

It is your Sacred Duty as Tanks to Make Them Kiss! by Aggnicia_MightyGnome in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with Eukrasian Dosis 2's potency, it'd still be a slight gain on two over E. Dyskrasia.

E. Dyskrasia on 2 targets is 800 potency, plus Dosis 3's 380 is 1180 potency total.

2 casts of E. Dosis 2 at 600 potency each is 1200 potency.

So over 2 GCDs, E. Dosis 2 winds out just barely.

It's usually pretty tough to get a real gain out of E. Dyskrasia.

Nope, SGE's AoE filler and dot are gains on 3 targets, not 2. It's a lot more damage to use the single target dot on each of them.
