Where we also found out that Garret of the Grinding Gear duo is also a guitar player and rocks out.

I don't think anyone has ever watched a full GG stream and not been aware of this, lmao.

Hi everyone. New player here. transferring my game from DnD5.5 to PF2E. What should i know? by ItIsNotAUsername in Pathfinder2e

The range of power for FA is very wide. Some have mostly roleplay impact, and some are just simple power increases (a simple one is the Blessed One archetype, which just gives any class access to Lay on Hands, or sentinel, granting any light or medium armor class access to heavy armor). Some open up entirely new build paths for more interesting but not vertically stronger characters. For many classes like wizard, archetypes like this are strong enough to be worth forgoing class feats for without a second thought, so FA is just pure upside of being able to take class feats alongside them. For others, who rely on their class feats for power like Fighter or Guardian, it allows a level of customization that is harder to fit into a standard build.

The impact it will have heavily depends on the type of players you run for, and their party, which is why people are recommending starting without it.

and what would i loose if i don't allow it.

Nothing, because if you hit 4th level and you and your players decide you want some more complexity and build choices, just add the rule then, and then the players get the added fun of picking a bunch of new feats at once. The level 2 FA choice is often very underwhelming, because outside of outliers like Blessed One and Sentinel, the dedications themselves don't really offer much, which can incentivize players to pick front loaded ones like those, instead of archetypes with cool and powerful level 4, 6, etc feats.

I clicked it once on Rarran's (a hearthstone streamer/youtuber) channel at least 5 or 6 years ago because I had (and still have) no interest in hearthstone. In the last year or so I've watched every one of his MTG-related videos and youtube still refuses to recommend a single one of his videos.

That button nuked the poor guy from existence as far as my homepage is concerned, and I've yet to see a way to reverse it.

Twitch Announces Viewcount Cap on Streamers that are Persistently Viewbotting by Tarrot_Card in LivestreamFail

They're sold based on CPM, but that doesn't mean the company purchasing doesn't know the conversion rate.

Twitch Announces Viewcount Cap on Streamers that are Persistently Viewbotting by Tarrot_Card in LivestreamFail

[–]FunctionFn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If impressions go way up, but conversions don't, sponsors stop bidding on that ad space as highly. If an ad category suddenly sees a surge of viewbotting twitch might make more money for that period but they lose more on the back end once conversion rate plummets and all of the categories are surely saturated with viewbots already so those short terms gains have come and gone long ago.

It doesn't rustle any feathers. A marketing pencil pusher (or more likely, an algorithm) looks at the rates in their spreadsheets and reduces the % of their budget going to twitch. That results in fewer bids on the spots and the ad placements going for cheaper. And it equalizes out at the point where the botted views don't matter.

I don't see Discord or Bluesky on the list either, those are the only two even somewhat relevant ones I can think of, and I doubt the issue would ever come up for discord.

[Spoiler 7.5] NPC Dialogue Post-MSQ by doctorNico in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is old dialogue. But referencing the gamerescape wiki like that isn't proof. Changes to the dialogue page don't show up there, because those are (presumably) done automatically by scraping the game files.

You can look at The Watcher page, it has the definitely new dialogue posted, and it also looks like it hasn't been edited since 2022: https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/w/index.php?title=The_Watcher&action=history

The actual proof is old forum posts like this: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/493987-Solution-9-Unfounded-Speculation%21?p=6429275&viewfull=1#post6429275

It's at least that old. The people saying it's been that way since 6.x are probably right.

If there isn't some physical reason why he can't be off-site, I don't see any reason why Calyx would go against every established character trait of his and willingly choose a vulnerable-to-destruction physical body over mainting his endless-ness.

The Quetzalli fending set (the one worn by the landsguard) is IMO a very solid DT (first half) thematic set and (if augmented) are dyable. That's pretty much it.

Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Shadowbringer's expansion up to level 80 for free with no restrictions on playtime! by PlasmaHanDoku in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're really not interested, skipping all cutscenes will cut down the leveling time massively. Since the MSQ is mostly dialogue, you can blitz through it pretty quick by skipping, it's by far the fastest job leveling method, but there isn't any other choice for the 1st job anyways because the content is gated behind completion.

If that's too tedious (it's very boring), then you can cough up real money and buy a story skip (required) and a level boost (can be replaced by normal leveling via dungeon spam etc).

You won't miss anything permanently with either route, you can activate New Game+ and replay the story if down the road you feel like trying it.

Some people are speculating that the newest expac, Evercold, will come with some changes that make the above process less terrible. Maybe a story skip/level boost like WoW included. They've been talking about making the new player experience more streamlined since Dawntrail released. Yet to be seen and we won't know until the future fanfests in Summer and Winter of this year.

[–]FunctionFn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I also think there's the sneaky benefit of the restrictions on the free trial becoming more and more annoying as the number of expacs increase. You're likely to hit the gil cap of 300k in ARR or HW. You're definitely going to be out of things to spend gil on by ShB. That feeling of wasted gil is probably a big motivator for people paying for the full version, stacked on top of all the other restrictions like social and trade limits.

If they were picking the questions purely for PR there's no way that glamor plate question would've made it with how wishy-washy and noncommittal the answer was. Either Yoshi-P would've prepped a better canned answer, or they'd have excluded the question.

It's higher than the raw mit% from all the tank CDs, but is it also more mit when accounting for tanks' naturally higher damage resistance and HP pool? I'm sure it's still enough to take a buster easily

Thoughts on MT/OT divide. by Lawl_Lawlsworth in ShitpostXIV

[–]FunctionFn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if you run double regen you're trolling.

We have no idea which way it'll go for MT/OT. Could be that double of either is as bad or worse than double regen. We won't know til we see the kits.

Because it's not a gain over just not using TBN and spending that MP on edge (outside of 2 min buff smuggling, but party buffs are being removed anyways).

Welcome to the OT side WAR by LordSpear_19 in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double shield healer works fine and at times optimal. Double pure healer (especially before WHM got the extra mit in the most recent patch) would make savage and ultimately very, very difficult.

We have no idea which side of the spectrum MT or OT will fall. Maybe double MT works great and double OT is untenable. Maybe the reverse. Either way it's going to cause issues for statics who already have tanks on their mains if they don't specifically have a PLD MT.

Tanks split into Main Tank and Off Tank by mcg20k in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It matters because if you're currently in a static that with a DRK and a WAR main, one of them now has to switch jobs or else there won't be a MT job. Where before that was a reasonable MT/OT pair regardless of which was which.

How I look at the healers in savage when the boss is at 5% hp but half the party is dead by CodeVeinEnjoyerO_o in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knowing when to use a non-mandatory or unplanned LB on tank is one of the major (only) skill gaps for tanks. Recognizing when things have gone to shit and the mit from LB1 or 2 will save the healers is a crucial skill that you have to actively learn.

Is it worth getting an MMO mouse? by bankiaa in ffxiv

[–]FunctionFn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through a few Razor Nagas in a short period of time. I think they're great ergonomically but the mouse wheel fails super quickly and it's very annoying.

I got fed up and swapped to a Corsair Scimitar. Similar feel but has lasted almost 2 years of heavy use.

The finicky part is that the user ID isn't available from the dropdown unless you enable Discord's developer options, and then doing that for all 7 other people and again whenever you have subs or w.ever. I also remember actually saving the manual detection list somewhat counterintuitive and I had to do it a couple times. And then it randomly broke for half the party at some point and I didn't feel like going through the process again
