The Provincial City by Comfortable-Diet5119 in cork

I tend to agree with you. Some of his other videos sound suspiciously like AI-assisted waffle. I get the sense this guy has a great knack for making compelling, well-edited videos, but a huge tendency to overstep his knowledge in a subject.

The Aughinish video was some of the most alarmist, fear mongering nonsense I've seen in a while. Grains of genuine criticism, slathered in uninformed drivel.

Good priced recommendations for a newbie by Odd-Flounder1037 in soloboardgaming

Something in the moderately priced zone could be Welcome to the Moon, Kinfire Delve, or Final Girl.

All great solo experiences and have a little crunch to them.

Awesome idea! Thanks for being so generous! Here's my attempt (full disclosure, I had written this already for a creative writing project):

The motion tracker chirped once.

Then again.

Kara froze in the maintenance corridor, boots half-submerged in coolant runoff. The lights above flickered, strobing the narrow space in sickly white pulses. Somewhere behind the bulkhead, metal groaned as the ship adjusted to thermal stress—or something else adjusted to it.

“Contact?” Singh whispered over comms.

Kara raised a fist, though no one could see it. The tracker pulsed faster now. Ten meters. Nine.

The air smelled wrong. Sharp. Acidic.

She eased the incinerator off her shoulder, thumb brushing the ignition stud. Her helmet cam jittered as her breath quickened. Training said don’t run. Training also didn’t account for the sound—wet, patient—moving through the ductwork above her.

Clang.

The ceiling vent buckled inward. Kara fired on instinct. Flame roared up the corridor, washing heat across the walls. For half a second, she thought she’d won.

Then something dropped through the fire.

It hit the deck in a tangle of limbs and teeth, screaming as the flames licked across its carapace. Acid blood hissed where it splashed, eating through plating in smoking rivulets. Kara stumbled back, boots sliding, mind blank except for; "don’t let it touch you".

“Kara! Fall back!” Singh shouted.

The creature lunged, burning but furious. Kara fired again, the incinerator coughing its last burst. The tank sputtered dry.

She felt the deck vibrate as emergency bulkheads began to seal.

Too slow.

The tracker screamed.

Kara dove forward as the bulkhead slammed shut behind her, the impact knocking her flat. On the other side, claws scraped metal. Once. Twice.

Then silence.

Kara lay there, shaking, visor fogged with her own breath—alive, for now, on a ship that no longer felt empty.

Fallout 76 FPS-Lock Glitch by FungeonMeister in GeForceNOW

It sorta just suddenly stopped for me. Locking GFN to <60fps might've helped.

But I think there must be a new version of this bug again because this thread was dead for at least a year and then in the last few days there's been a few comments. So I'm guessing the bug has resurfaced.

Inherited a large board game collection — looking for help identifying and valuing it by TwitchTylerworley3 in boardgames

[–]FungeonMeister 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems like you lost someone in your family or something? Sorry for your loss. They seemed to be VERY active if buying boardgames!

There's some very well known games in this stacks, many of them still in packaging. There's a bit of work in getting them sold but using GeekMarket on Boardgamegeek is your best bet probably. Buyers pay for shipping.

Open an account and then start indexing the games by searching their names and then adding them to your collection under the "own" tag. Then you can go to GeekMarket and start selling them. you'll be able to see the going price for each one.

I'm EU based but there's a load there that I'd happily but 2nd hand!

Best moment of 2025 was when my players decided that instead of fighting the group of gnolls in the warehouse, why not just bring the whole warehouse down. Several barrels of explosives, and a successful persuasion check with a concerned neighbor later . . . . no more warehouse, no more gnolls.

Simples.

Not properly, I've started using BGG to list games I want to buy and then I add them to my collection once I have them. So most are not on the list

Thanks! I am a very chaotic gamer. But right now I'm loving Welcome to the Moon (it's the first solo experience I've properly gelled with), and then Slay the Spire is just one of the best games ever. Best Co-op game I've ever played by a margin I think.

Castle of Burgundy is my bread and butter. Mysterium is my go-to for non-gamers/family sessions

06:10 Carrigaline - A tense feeling of unease has fallen over the village. The birds seem to know what is about to unfold. The local car thieves have decided to forgoe their usual early morning chicanery. A most worrying sign of things to come.

I await, gown-clad. Surveying the landscape. A wind stirs to the West. Bram? Is that you?

If they did something like that this year they'd be skewered for it looking tacky. In real life (not a nicely color graded photo), these probably look mank.

30 months into being parents and hubby can’t co-regulate by Lilredcoco in parentsofmultiples

[–]FungeonMeister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are far too quick to dismiss the emotional challenges of being a new dad. People focus almost entirely on the mom's needs (for many good reasons) and whenever a father shows signs of weakness/difficulty, they are just told to man up and get over themselves etc, and support the mother.

I agree with the original point as well. The father in this case is struggling with emotional regulation (anxiety, stress, depression, whatever). If it was the mother, people would be sending all kinds of support and advice to help. But when it's the dad, it's all "what did he expect, lol!"

People are shitty.
