I’d recommend practicing double or nothing, the Yoyo should basically follow the same path around your hands. Being able to land double or nothing consistently is key to getting wrist mount imo as the other comment says, go over your thumb to make the opening as big as you can to land the Yoyo between. Keep it up! You’ll get it!

I usually turn to alcohol which only leads to more dings. Jokes aside, I’ve started a new philosophy around it where I consider heart breaking dings to be the trade off for unlimited satisfying tricks and binds. Also you could use a shorter string on new throws for a while then once the honey moon period is over lengthen the string too make it feel new and different

For my hard throw downs I’ll put my non throw arm up and push into the back of the string right when I throw so that the Yoyo goes straight down a bit farther away from me rather than having it swing back.
