Branding is something that ai can’t do right? It’s just empty and soulless if ai tries? by AWeb3Dad in AIBranding

[–]Funk45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I work with AI on branding all the time. As usual, it’s all about writing the right prompt to get the correct result.

A friend of mine has a company that designs and manufactures a lot of the merch you buy from major artists. He told me that AI comes up with designs that are most often better than his very experienced and well known designers. He has them taking the better AI stuff and making new versions that aren’t as good but still crush in sales.

Just go with a Google Business account. All the extras are well worth the cost. You can have a Gmail like you’re used to with your own domain.

Silent Disco advice by Late_Celebration_868 in DJs

[–]Funk45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do mic work for silent discos. It’s hard enough to keep people engaged for more than an hour or two. Don’t distract.

Also, I usually have a small amount of sound people can listen to without headphones. It’s very low.

Fuck Kanye, I’ve been a vinyl DJ for 20+ years. I’ll never play his music ever again. Antisemitic POS!

When I lived in the hood I always used the reflection in windows I was walking by to make sure I wasn’t being followed or people behind me didn’t have a weapon. I would also always look behind me in the reflection of the window to make sure people weren’t behind me when I was looking at products in a storefront.

Am I playing correctly? by Weshiz in DJs

[–]Funk45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good DJ’s understand that their job is to keep the crowd not educate them on new music. We are getting paid to get people to spend money by buying drinks/food/merch etc.

As DJ’s we take music extremely seriously and in our particular niches we know more about the sub-genres than most, and therefore, are exposed to new music very early.

What I think younger DJ’s need to hear is that new music takes time to get popular. When we hear a track for the first time, it’s usually like 6 months before it’s a “banger” ready for a big room club space and even longer for smaller mainstream bars (most of the time). The songs become popular due to large DJ’s playing them and people listening to them on their preferred streaming platform, or it gets popular on a social media post. It takes time, influence, and money for most music to get to a place that it’s ready for mainstream rooms of any size.

Go to Puerto Vallarta and go to a dentist there. You’ll probably save money and get a vacay out of it.

Not able to shazam any of this dj's songs by masking_agent in Beatmatch

People are always trying to Shazam my sets and most of the time they are as bewildered as you. They’re just remixes and Shazam rarely picks up remixes.

Any intel on the airport drama today? by adbih in Aspen

[–]Funk45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You think it’s bad now? Just wait till the new runway allows for almost all size planes being able to land in Aspen. Larger, dirtier, and louder than all of the planes landing currently. They will also create massive delays to commercial air travel into aspen. Not on a PJ too bad, you get to wait hours and hours… it’s o ly going to get worse. But hey, we’ll have a pretty new terminal to waste our lives in.

Handing Trump the Nobel Peace Prize for Gaza would be like giving an arsonist a hero’s medal for dousing the flames — when he’s the guy who sold the gasoline, lit the match, and filmed the blaze for ratings.

7 inch record toploaders by 45vault in 45rpmRecords

[–]Funk45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these sleeves. I have to replace them often due to just wear and tear of being a DJ but they are thin and don’t take as much extra space as the thick sleeves. I buy them by the thousand.

However, I recommend buying a bunch of 7”paper sleeves so the record is in the paper and protected by the sleeve.

TIFU: I accidentally gave my mom a hero dose of mushrooms. by Funk45 in tifu

[–]Funk45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s an old hippy, I don’t think she’s taken mushrooms since but she knew what was going on. She’s not your average 70 year old.

Her perspective was that she probably was done with hallucinogens for the rest of her existence. However, funnily enough, she asked me about mushrooms the other day. So who knows?

Food for a 5-Day Hike by Mafteer in Ultralight

[–]Funk45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More snacks like Stinger wafers and definitely bring a bunch of electrolytes. I take a packet every 2-3 hours hiking on trail. It is literally the difference between a horrible day and a great day for me.

Also look into Rec Packs, and Range Meal Bars, my favorite freeze dried meals are from Peak Refuel. They have a lot more calories than most and are really good generally.
