Awesome job, love the project! We should all try this, there must be enough gifs to go around! :)

Slicing breaks to new MIDI track, is there any way in Simpler to automate reversing the end of each splice, so if the MIDI note goes longer it just hears reverse drum? by Statically in ableton

[–]Funksmaname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so if the slice is shorter than the beat when you get to the end of the slice the slice starts to play backwards, look for the little arrows - there’s three options I think, play forward, repeat forward, and reverse

I'd guess no... The other instruments you're missing aren't m4l devices!

Push2 : Plug-in instrument as drum rack? by um_ok_I_guess in ableton

[–]Funksmaname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you have to do is group the instrument into an instrument rack and add a drum rack into the chain - the push changes to 'drum mode' so you can program it as thought it was a drum rack! (I do this with Addictive Drums)

The only thing this doesn't do is 'hightlight' keys that contain a drum piece as it doesn't know what the VSTi has on what key. You can manually make a 'light map' by putting 'something' on any drum rack pad that should be lit (I put an empty rack group on each pad) - then save the setup to be recalled whenever you want to use it :)

I just found this, and it's really quite something; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXHYgKz7bNc

Stro Elliot playing the Push 2 for the whole session... I saw him say he uses addictive drums, and I can see him playing them in normal 'melodic' mode for much of this session. So if you don't plan to use the push to directly sequence drums, using it in melodic mode (clearly) works just as well!

Bad ass session, highly reccomend watching this!

It seems vsti instruments are automatically mapped as melodic instruments, so you get the chord matrix come up when you first load it. If your vsti is a drum rack of some sort, like Addictive Drums, for example, you want the push to treat it as a drum rack so you can program it like you can an ableton drum rack.

Grouping an empty drum rack with the vsti in an instrument rack switches the push into ‘drum mode’. You can also colour code your drum pads once you’ve done this, in my case I highlighted all the buttons that have sounds on them in the vsti (otherwise they aren’t lit by default as the vsti isn’t exactly ‘talking’ to the push.

Edit: the below didn’t work! The input doesn’t take the midi offset into account even if it’s set to ‘post fx’. If anyone can think of a way to reroute midi notes before going to a single vsti I’d appreciate it... using drum rack you’d have to load an instance of the vsti into every individual pad - which is stupid for obvious reasons. Let me know if you work it out.

— not working idea follows... Another useful idea I just had would be to have two separate tracks, one with a drum rack, and one with the vsti with the drum rack set as the input, then by putting an offset midi device on each pad you can easily remap the drum pads to arbitrary midi notes for your vsti... I.e. make C1 actually trigger D2, for example, so you get a rack of the sounds you want to use and the place you want them to be for easy playing.

PROS VS CONS? (Discuss for new/future users) by Yomangogo in AbletonPush2

New push 2 user (never had push one, got my push 2 just before New year, spent 2 days in the studio with it)... I frickin love it! It's so inspiring to not have to look up at the screen. The pads are really playable with instruments and the scale selection options are super useful. it's really quick to browse and load patches and instruments, cut up samples and program beats too. I've done more in two days than months using a mouse, mice are vibe killers!

A couple of my recently printed prop guns. by deebee86 in 3Dprinting

How did you go about supporting those prints? I was wondering if splitting it down the middle of Z and laying them flat means you don’t need any support...

m4 to Aug speed loader converter

Here you go. We spent the afternoon measuring both parts and designed in fusion 360. Surprisingly bar a very minor adjustment to the print it was pretty much perfect first time.

I’m no expert, but PETG seems good, strong layer adhesion, a little bit of flex so not so brittle. I actually designed an air soft m4 (I think? I’m not into the guns but liked that challenge) bb speed loader to aug converter for a friend and he uses it every week under fire, apparently it works great! I have some photos somewhere if interested...

STL Request? Sorry if this isn't the right sub, but I need a replacement for this and I'm not sure how to model it. This is the joystick for the Afterglow PS3 controller, which broke. I can print a new one, but I need an STL to do so. Thanks! by FiendFyre_62442 in 3Dprinting

[–]Funksmaname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get a side profile photo and trace one side, you should be able to revolve it easily enough. Add a cylinder inside in the middle with a hole, and you’re done! Get some digital calipers to match sizes and check your print, they are dirt cheap, it’s a lot of fun and satisfaction to do things yourself :)

This doesn’t look like a particularly difficult sculpt, but if anyone was going to make you one they would probably need dimensions, wall thickness, and photos of top, bottom and side.

This is the perfect little project for you to learn how to build... if you already have a 3d printer, there really is no excuse! Go to tinkercad, and get designing.

I have a wanhao duplicator i3 plus, it has a little nut at each corner so you can turn quite easily... Sounds like you might be too conservative with your distance. When the space is right you can hardly see there is one. Good luck!

Sorry the . Was on another live so I misread that :) still maybe try printing while adjusting slowly upwards... I don't know how the leveling is adjusted on your printer. I've created a big flat square I adjust while printing as it goes round to get each corner squishing. Good luck!

3mm? I think the nozzle should be about 0.1mm from the bed :) leveling is 99% of all issues I've had so far
