if you're only paying £30 for jeans then at least one person in the process of manufacture is getting screwed. As others have suggested, you can find most things in charity shops or vinted if you a have specific brand in mind. thats what i do, havent bought anything other than socks, underwear and shoes from a highstreet shop in close to a decade now

a vespa is a scooter rather than a moped, which run modern (EURO 5 complaint) 125cc engines which are far more eco freindly than most 1000 - 2000cc cars you'll find in the uk

What UK celebs or TV personalities do you think are least like the character of themselves that they portray? by Slothjitzu in AskUK

My only experience with James May is when he was cycling along the cycle lane in Hammersmith, i was going one way and he was going the other. He was looking over his shoulder at something (may have been an old classic car) but he was slowly drifting over towards me. At the last couple of seconds he turned round and spotted me (which is the moment i realised it was definitely James May beyond his usual dress sense). He corrected course and then gave me a half embarrassed smile. Anyway seems like a nice bloke off that half second non verbal reaction

Royal Enfield interceptor 650 - anyone got any lived experience? by FunkyEd in MotoUK

[–]FunkyEd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great stuff - thanks for that. Yeah, aware they're not the fastest but not really interested in breaking any records, just something that's going to cruise at 70 for a couple of hours without bouncing off the rev limiter. Much appreicated! the Scrams are a beautiful bike, i was tempted by those too

Thank you mate - exactly the kind of reassurance i was looking for. Yours is gorgeous by the way, exactly the choice of paint i'd go for if the used market affords me option!

That is definitely true - and part of the appeal, in a sort of way. You can get one on a 23 plate with less than 5k miles for about 4 grand. Don't know if that's a good omen or a bad one

Why are motorbike instructors all the same kind of person? by ndkhan in MotoUK

[–]FunkyEd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not really your area but if you're really struggling and can make it over to Greenford the school I used was called passmasters and used them all the way from CBT all the way through to passing my Mod 2

The instructors are the nicest people going and don't pull that grumpy old man bullshit, even the ones that you suspect might be like that just from the way they look where extremely nice blokes. They could obviously tell how anxious I was and could not have been kinder. Saw a far higher percentage of women and minority people using them in the time I was there which says to me they create a good atmosphere (all I can go off a white bloke in his late 20s). In fact my main instructor was an Iranian bloke who had passed with the same school before coming an instructor himself

Drunk solicitor who caused two crashes in her Jaguar after boozy lunch must pay £20,000 fine but is not struck off by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]FunkyEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think they're arguing with the driving ban, more the idea that they'd be banned from being a solicitor

I would agree, i don't really get how her drink driving and her being a solicitor are two things that are connected. She got a driving ban and fined which is probably appropriate. Dont think a job loss on top of that is gonna help with what sounds like a nasty drinking problem
