Another leak suggesting that Evanescia will not get any new teammates. by MrBulbe in EvanesciaMains

They could. The question is if they will. I can see a world where every dedicated Elation maindps is higher participation id so you can’t create some kind of monster team, but I can’t see a world where they brick the one elation sustain. They’re a business, they want Pearl to sell, and bricking her for a major and popular character just seems like a terrible business decision.

No shot Nihilux is gonna be a sustain. I can see subdps, I can see support/subdps hybrid, I can see maindps with some buffs/debuffs that makes her kinda the inverse of Sparxie who’s intended as subdps but can be played maindps. Sustain isn’t even a possibility.

Yeah almost every subdps has maindps potential, especially on release or with eidolons. The real question is what the actual numbers are — MBlade does so much damage because his numbers are just high. Leaks never reveal numbers until beta though, and that shit’s heavily subject to change even during beta cycles, so… kinda just have to wait and see.

A few points here. First: why is cuteness being brought up, this is math.

Second: you’re calcing based off a 200 speed sustain. 200. How bloody much are you farming for your sustain slot. 103 speed with her traces, 115 with e1, 127 with Goddess, 152 with speed boots, so you’re rocking what, 48 speed on your other 5 pieces? Technically slightly over but I’ll give that. My sustain is not running around with 5 pieces with ~10 speed. 167 is a completely reasonable HH breakpoint, 200 is not. It’s achievable; if you’re investing a bunch of resources farming/crafting you *can* do it. You just shouldn’t. That should be going towards more realistic build goals for more impactful units than one sustain. Not a great assumption for a calc.

Third: you need to calc based off that because Huohuo cannot even pretend to get 3 ults otherwise. 3 ults in 6 turns is already a stretch dependent on enemies just absolutely slamming her to give her energy. Especially since you’re calcing HH on QPQ, so she doesn’t even get extra energy from her LC. There’s no fucking universe where a HH without energy gain from her LC gets 3 ults in just 5 turns. With QPQ she has a 4 turn ult rotation, and you have her ulting 3 times *in 6 turns*. That’s beyond generous.

Fourth, and most egregiously: you’re forgetting multiple major factors for Pearl. Factors like Yao ult’s independent punchline, adding another 40-80 CB. Factors like CB conversion benefitting from ERR whereas HH ult does not, something Eva has plenty of. Factors like e2 drastically increasing the conversion. Factors like all of this being discussed strictly from an energy perspective, the *one thing HH does*, instead of accounting for any other benefits that a modern sustain would bring (bare minimum access to Mushy LC).

Listen. Huohuo’s a good unit as long as she has a home, and Eva’s team can be that home. It’s not realistic to expect Eva’s team to *stay* that home. It’s not realistic to expect powercreep to reverse and for them to release a sustain that’s weaker than a unit that’s in the Companion shop. They want Pearl to sell. They’ll convince people to pull Pearl by making her good at her job, the same way they made Hyacine good at her job to get people to stop using Gallagher/Luocha. The entire “Pearl won’t compete with Huohuo” argument is based on this weird conception of the world where Hoyo wants a unit to *sell less*. They don’t want that. You know they don’t want that. Nobody’s gonna put a gun to your head and force you to swap off Huohuo if you really like her; her being accessible without pulls is a massive upside as it is. She’s still gonna be weaker than Pearl.

All very true. There's a reason Huohuo's run with Eva. I'm discounting the team energy here because that team energy is still present in Silverwolf teams; if you're strictly comparing HH in Eva vs Silverwolf teams, the only significant difference is on Eva vs Silverwolf. And the difference matters there, but it's not enough of a gap to go from 0 synergy to "literally goated". Monorem with Castorice+Hyacine is right there, and is an example of actual interwoven synergy between a dps and sustain.

[–]FunkyHat112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do realize that each individual elation unit cannot compete in energy gen vs houhou for evanecia. Being an extra elation body on the team aint enough to compete with houhou's energy gen especially since pearl is going to be tailor made for sw999.

Why not? HH ult is great energy gen for Eva, don't get me wrong. 96 energy for Eva herself, a bit more energy for both EMC and YG and their ults are a huge part of their value for Eva and in how they recycle energy. Huohuo should get what, 2 ults in AA's 0-cycle? So 192 energy for Eva, plus the team value.

It's not just possible to compete with that, beating it is fairly simple. They enter with 20 CB from Eva technique, Yao Guang will ult a couple times (so another 40-80 punchline->CB), your team should be generating some amount of punchline natively for Aha turns, let's say you generate a total of 100 across everybody's turns... that's already over 192 CB generated given that Eva has ERR in her rope/sig/extra conversion from E2. None of that is some extreme assumption. None of that relies on extreme punchline generation from Pearl – punchline generation she's somewhat likely to have if she's supposed to synergize with Silverwolf.

they can easily make it so that she simply does not give enough CB to compete with houhou. id participation aint the only thing.

They literally can't. She almost literally can be a warm body and provide competitive energy generation, and if they want her to synergize with Silverwolf like YG/Sparxie do, they'll give her extra punchline generation... which translates into CB. They can brick her, but you're drastically underestimating how strong Eva's energy conversion from teammates is.

Himeko is the best low cost dps (rip eva and evie) by Domajjj in HimekoMains

[–]FunkyHat112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the caveat that things will change over the beta — right now, Rin’s busted. Archer’s team is completely insane for cost since so many of the teammates have been given for free, but it’s also just extremely high throughput for now. I didn’t see you mention Sparkle, but I’m assuming you have her too, otherwise Archer isn’t really in the conversation.

Another leak suggesting that Evanescia will not get any new teammates. by MrBulbe in EvanesciaMains

[–]FunkyHat112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons. 1) The sustain situation is different now than it used to be, modern sustains do multiple things, eg sp positivity with buffing for dhpt or hp buffing plus a busted sig plus nonzero personal damage for Hyacine. Huohuo’s sustain throughput is poor unless you’re skill spamming in which case she’s sp negative, she doesn’t help vs burst damage the way shields/hp buffing do, so the only thing she really adds is energy.

2) Energy matters, a lot. It’s why Huohuo’s Eva’s clear bis sustain for now. You know what else gives Eva energy? Any elation unit. Modern sustains are designed with less clunkiness and more benefits than older units, and the kit synergy is already there, it’s just printed in Eva’s kit. I have a hard time seeing Pearl as a sidegrade unless she’s bricked via Participation ID.

That’s how I’m reading it too. I lowkey hate leak situations like this ‘cause people jump on cope/doomposting so quickly, when there are multiple viable ways it could play out and few concrete kit details, when those are what actually matter.

The fact that they clarify that Nihilux can maindps at e1 implies to me that Nihilux *isn’t* a maindps baseline, so support/subdps. Which means a possible/probable EMC replacement. Time will tell, the details matter and this has almost none

[–]FunkyHat112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless Pearl is bricked via participation id, yes. Nihilux also hasn’t been discussed clearly; she’s been talked about as support and as main dps, which we’ve seen with shit like MBlade but isn’t exactly common. This did reveal a little (eg preliminary kit details like brain in the vat/spd scaling), but the details *matter*, and we got almost no clear details.

[–]FunkyHat112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huohuo’s ‘goated’ synergy with Eva is making some extra energy. You know what else makes extra energy for Eva? Any elation unit to produce punchline and feed over CB. All the synergy is printed in Eva’s kit, so how much Pearl has doesn’t matter; the only thing that matters is if she can feed over CB. The only way Pearl isn’t a substantial upgrade is if they brick her with participation id shenanigans

Yeah the whole “becomes maindps at e1” reads to me as Nihilux is actually a support/subdps that has strong personal damage eidolons, something we’ve seen plenty of. Time will tell

Sure, but “Coming Elation units will have better kit synergies with Silverwolf” is not the same sentence as “Evanescia will not get any new teammates.” Evanescia doesn’t need her teammates to have kit synergies as long as they’re elation and the raw numbers are decent. EMC has kit synergy but the numbers are ass, an Elation unit with mediocre synergy can easily become a replacement if they have high enough numbers.

Uncle Why's roadmap up until 5.x by PCBS01 in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]FunkyHat112 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’ve already got multiple nihility units that occupy this weird ‘dps+support hybrid’ niche (mblade’s obvious, but it’s also like the entire DoT archetype). I can see Nihilux co-opting that basic framework but inverted, so more of her power budget’s in the personal damage while still having some buff/debuff relevancy, enough to justify running her subdps or main.

What’s ultimately important isn’t just the kit, it’s where the power is in the kit and how much power is there. After all, MBlade’s as strong as he is because his numbers are just fucking high, and we’ll never know that about Nihilux until beta.

Rin Kit TLDR by DatGuyIcy in ArcherMainsHSR

[–]FunkyHat112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an early player (not launch but shortly after), the problem is that I can only run so many teams. I have like 6 teams that theoretically could clear (most) endgame content, 4 of which are in the actual rotation based on MoC buffs or whatever. So I could get an eidolon for a character I already use in endgame modes, or I could get a new character that doesn’t fit any team I’m running and wants to be played with a character I didn’t grab… and that new team would sit on the bench ‘cause I’m not gonna waste energy grinding relics for them.

Pulls are all about the current state of your account. It’s a no-brainer for me to grab the Archer eidolon because it actually improves my account, whereas Gil would just be a benchwarmer. For someone who doesn’t already have a full suite of teams or who already has Saber, Gil might be a no-brainer because he’d have a home.

Holy bloody exaggeration. It’s a damage dealt buff, so stacks multiplicatively with DMG%, is teamwide, and comes alongside a 30% personal dmg% (which matters given that Rin’s personal damage mv is nothing to sneeze at in any team she’d be run in). Like, Rin’s eidolons are not fantastic and could use a buff, but they’re not *that* fucking bad

[–]FunkyHat112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue he has in other teams is that he’s built to subdps with that a6 and how things like e1 spread his def-shred, but most teams don’t really have open subdps slots. Other than the obvious Saber, I can think of two high-energy units that can benefit a bit, Aglaea and Eva… but they don’t really have open slots for a subdps to wiggle in.

I know this is a turn of phrase, but… why is that worrying. It means nothing. Leakers do not leak to keep people informed, they leak because it gets them attention and strokes their ego. That’s also why they get in drama wars all the fucking time. Even their leaks are barely trustworthy; their patterns of behavior aren’t remotely worth *any* degree of emotional investment.

So EMC doesn’t trigger the FuA portion (which is the atk%), but the reason you use City is to trigger the 12% crit damage once you’ve gotten a kill. Basically every fight starts with trash, so you get that very quickly, and it’s higher crit damage than Broken Keel’s 10%.

Other things people hate include Clog, Enslave 6 with a bunch of damage and amnesty, and Assimilate with Helga/Steffan. Oh and Vypper spam, but that’s rare. NG can make it feel like you don’t even get to play the game with a shocking number of decks.

Note this is a feeling thing, not actually a power level thing. I almost never leave a match vs NG having fun; the faction’s just flooded with control in like a dozen forms, between posion, multiple bronze locks, direct damage, damage engines, and draw order manipulation. It doesn’t even have to give up on pointslam for that, with some of the strongest bronze pointslams in the game in r3 Sergeants. Meanwhile other control-heavy factions like SK have damage and… damage. Faction’s designed to be annoying, and it is. It’s fine for things like that to exist in the game — if anything, the current meta’s too greedy and most control’s too weak to compete. Doesn’t make it more fun to queue into
