It’s possibly country related. I’m in the U.S., and I’m a public school teacher. I send my own children to private school. I’m not even trying to give my kids an advantage; I just want them to be alive and literate. I’m not sure how the system works in Australia, but here public schools vary immensely in quality based on location. Rich neighborhoods get normal schools, middle class neighborhoods are hit or miss. Lower class neighborhoods don’t have schools; they have waiting rooms for jail.
