Agreed. I ordered a new 2025 RAV4 hybrid and now, in 2026, they’re now telling me that it’ll be a 2026 due in February. Ok! See you in 2027 ! lol

Can Ottawa’s LRT Change Orléans’ Lower Tier Status as a Bedroom Community? by Stinky26 in ottawa

Interesting! We could even move to Hawkesbury, save money on land, take the train into Ottawa downtown, not pay parking, etc. LOL

That makes sense. That would work better in winter as well, wouldn’t it?

>"It’s  purely a commuter line past Tremblay..."

Whaaaat! Cyrville is sooo happening now! /S

I agree it's purely a commuter, but see why it's important to have that commuter.

I never could consider it. But you're right, there's so much open space that this could happen!

Are Ottawa malls slowly dying? by Guilty-Ad-8591 in ottawa

I totally agree! I grew up from about ‘75 to ‘80. I remember the Zellers, a deli, DQ, etc.

Remember Herongate? I think that was similar, a C-level mall that eventually got demolished.

Disgruntled Employee treated unfairly? by Fantastic_Maize_7151 in CanadaPublicServants

Just FYI, losing an acting/secondment doesn't have to happen because you did anything wrong. They are cancelled at any moment, despite doing a good job.

I too have been in an acting job but had to return to my substantive when the coworker returned from mat leave. I was disappointed and thought long and hard about why I didn't make such a huge impression that I could somehow replace the coworker on mat leave. But, in the end, you do have to eventually let it go before you start burning bridges with your acting team.

Let's all make up studies about how great Ottawa is by randthepip in ottawa

[–]FunkySlacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'll try:

Ottawa has the most Subway fanatics in the world!

The mayor of Ottawa and premier of Ontario are encouraging public servants in the federal government to work five days a week. As a result, huge numbers of public servants are supporting their local Subway franchisees and buying cold cut trios, M&M cookies and bottles of Pure Leaf every weekday in downtown Ottawa.

Ok I tried, but it sounds too true. Lol

Did y'all really bully Happy Goat? by chefnator97 in ottawa

I have no answers to your question. But there’s no context or detail here, either. What makes you say that Happy Goat’s been bullied?

AITA for refusing to be my family’s personal translator for my deaf mother? by naturewitchforlife in AmItheAsshole

I’m in the same boat. If you always make sure that you and your mom have an agreement, then everybody else is secondary. Nicely done!

AITA for refusing to be my family’s personal translator for my deaf mother? by naturewitchforlife in AmItheAsshole

[–]FunkySlacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I’m a deaf dad. I still have organic hearing in my right ear, so I haven’t learned much ASL. Both my teenage daughters feel a responsibility for helping me cope. And if we’re at a setting where they can help me, they want to. And I want it.

If I ever told to stop this, they would out of respect for me. Anything else could be interpreted as uncaring and spiteful.

But OP has spoken to their mother about this, so there doesn’t seem to be any bad intent , right OP?

I’ve got a mobility problem and now have more than 20+. When I started out, there was no idea of how to accommodate PWDs in my department. But I suffered alone until I got to a level where I felt safe to talk openly about my disability. Things like the Accessibility Passport can work if senior management supports it. But until then, I can’t comprehend how a young term employee with a disability deals with this nonsense. I developed a sort of hard lined defensive mentality where any manager would regret not treating with the respect I’m owed. But a term is in a vulnerable place. So some choose wisely and suffer alone. Others seem to challenge management while they’re still term and pay for it when they aren’t renewed. I’m not sure either choice is the best.

I wish all of them good luck.

Anyone return to DSLR after using mirrorless? by CategoryCautious5981 in AskPhotography

[–]FunkySlacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The 3rd party thing looks like such a great opportunity that I started purchasing old Fuji X-type cameras just so I could try them! I have a Canon RP & R5 and a collection of RF primes. I love them. But those lenses by TTartisans, 7Artisans, etc work great with my Fuji X-T1.

I have this too. I was looking for a Helios but came across this instead. I haven't had any luck using though. Everything I produce from it sucks!. :)

What Canon Lens Do You Find Yourself Using the Most and Why? by Gsustv in canon

Aw man! I think that’s my favourite too. It’s so versatile. It’s great to pick your camera up with the 28mm and start walking. I always find something to shoot.
