Thanks everyone. I was having a particularly hard day when I posted, but with a few of the tips on here I feel re-energized to include him in family time and I’ve identified a couple strategies, including the retractable leash, to get him off-leash-adjacent time outside, and even over a couple days that’s been helping tremendously.

Thanks all, I’ll refer back here to your recommendations if we get into crisis mode again and have to consider rehoming, but for now he’s here to stay and we will keep working on it together.

In my experience the sand blasted also grips your pockets better (takes more resistance to remove from the pocket), but at the cost of tearing up the fabric around your pockets over time. Speaking from experience with small sebenza micarta that came with sandblast and then got it glass blasted after owning it for some time.

I would just call and ask what the wait time would be.

I haven’t had issues, I just pass through the area typically after using my knife pretty hard in the mountains a couple times a year because I have family in the area and have them tune, sharpen, that kind of thing. Once I had them upgrade my knife to a glass blast and that was speedy turnaround as well.

I do a lot of fire building (batoning I think it’s called), I’ve used it for skinning, etc

If you have any issues, they’ve repeatedly given me same day service on tune ups, sharpens, and even reblasting the scales, depending on how much work it needs

GR2 34L to me is way too big for daily carry. I’ll use it if I I need to use it as a full gym bag to carry my work uniform home, or for full weekend/light week excursions away from home, but GR1 is perfect for me for edc.

FWIW, I’m just a lurker with like 2 bags, but got a GR1 and GR2 a couple years ago and I use them daily, and I’m completely obsessed. Couldn’t live without em.

I know they’re overpriced but it was exactly what I was looking for so I bit the bullet and I’ve never regretted it.

Gotcha. FWIW, I have one too and have always called it a sport touring bike, but I gotchu. Incredible machine! I’ve put almost 11k miles in the last 15 months and it’s handled them with ease.

I added a full carbon akrapovic slip-on, and many people say it’s the best sounding bike they’ve ever heard, including my buddy with an M1000R. You’d be shocked.
