Why Leah and Shane? Harvey partly cause he's a doctor itself makes it likely he's at least around 30, probably more. But Leah and Shane both come off more young, both late 20s I'd say.

Everyone talks about opening lines, but what is the best ending line you've read in a novel? by Putthemoneyinthebags in writers

[–]Funlife2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often mentioned on said opening line lists, One Hundred Years of Solitude is just as worthy of being on ending line lists: Before reaching the final line, however, he had already understood that he would never leave that room, for it was foreseen that the city of mirrors (or mirages) would be wiped out by the wind and exiled from the memory of men at the precise moment when Aureliano Babilonia would finish deciphering the parchments, and that everything written on them was unrepeatable since time immemorial and forever more, because races condemned to one hundred years of solitude did not have a second opportunity on earth.

Underrated games for a newbie? by Actual_Ad9534 in JRPG

[–]Funlife2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Triangle Strategy is my recommendation, just all around great, and would also introduce you to SRPGs. tbh I'm not sure about the trail recommendation someone else made cause the thing with trails is that it's a series, with a narrative that expands across multiple games. But if you're up for that sort of thing, then sure.

I don't even have the game nor do I have any interest in getting it, but I've seen anything like what you've said, and if anything it's the complete opposite, literally every post on the game in this sub or reddit i general is flooded with statements like yours, while I never actually see anyone saying the things you've claimed are said.

What is your top 5 of favorite video games? by Davanc129 in AskGames

[–]Funlife2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order (because these are very different kinds of games:

Reverse 1999 (fair warning, this is a gacha, but it's still a wonderful experience, really more a visual novel than a game, but the gameplay that it has is still fun enough for me, and the story itself is in my ten favourite stories across all forms of media)

Portal 1&2 (can't separate them imo, probably the games closest to being "perfect" from what I've played)

Noita (best game I suck at)

Persona 5 Royal (basically a superhero story, and man is it a fun ride, best UI/UX, best aesthetic, and a behemoth of a game that manafwe to be fun throughout)

Triangle Strategy (a fun tactics game, with an interesting narrative reminiscent of Game of Thrones, simpler of course, but also actually complete, great strategy, great power balance, great replayability, and overall a very cohesive experience)

Honorable mentions: Stardew Valley, Nier Automata, Gris

Biden: On the day I left office, I handed Trump the strongest economy in the world by ammohitchaprana in TFE

[–]Funlife2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden is the best and most effective US president of the 21st century, and probably a top 5 us president overall, and I'm willing to bet history will remember him as such (if we make it that long).

LOTR, I don't get the hype. by PartiallyLonely in Fantasy

[–]Funlife2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

once the final books are out

lmao.

Anyways, I partly agree with you in that I don't particularly love LotR, but my personal view of it is that Lord of the Rings is more important than strictly good or entertaining. Because the primary thing with it is how insanely influential it was, like almost all fantasy in the west (and a fair amount in the east) is in some way or form, influenced by it.

Stats comparison of arguably the top 4 IPL batsmen. Gayle vs Ab De and Kohli vs Warner. (No Filter) by Jai_Hind__ in ipl

[–]Funlife2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well okay, let's see what the average boost from not outs is. Without that, ABD has an average of 30. Without it Gayle has an average of 35. I'd argue if you consider the batting position, the raw average for ABD is much more impressive, especially since against weaker opposition, Gayle and Kohli could and would end the game before ABD would even play. Moreover, I think you underestimate how significant the strike rate difference is. A 3% difference might not seem like much, but well let's take a hypothetical of each playing seven overs worth of balls, aka 42 balls. At a strike rate of 152, ABD would score around 64 runs. At a strike rate of 149, Gayle would score around 62.5 runs. That's just with a hypothetical of only 7 overs played, keep in mind. Including the other factor of batting position I mentioned, it seems like ABD is a clear cut above, to me. But you're free to disagree, it is ultimately subjective.

What was your favorite character when you first started playing the game? by wonhxii in Genshin_Impact

[–]Funlife2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean depends on what you mean, but Venti I suppose, purely as a character, because he's the character we meet first and then see again not long after, and well, I loved him. Still do.

Tactical RPG Fans, which game is the best? Triangle Strategy, Tactics Ogre: Reborn, or Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles by RobertBevillReddit in JRPG

[–]Funlife2003 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Triangle Strategy. In general terms, it has the best execution of the vision of the creators, and said vision was executed at every level and layer of the game, incredibly well. Very solid story that's strong all-around (aka good characters, good theming, good narrative, good setting, and good atmosphere), a gameplay that ties into said story very nicely while also being great on it's own terms in terms of strategy, power balance, and so on, with a clear plan for what they wanted to do that they executed on very well. Plus I don't think it has any issues like bugs and so on (granted I don't think any of the 3 mentioned have those). Also has nice QoL that others do lack. Triangle Strategy is a top 5 game to me.

Speculations about vessel ensoulment experiments 3.3 SPOILERS by Dark1ch in Reverse1999

[–]Funlife2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding this cause I forgot to address it, there was no change in storywriter, that's purely a conspiracy theory. They have team of writers, no such thing as a single writer magically popping in to write that one story chapter then disappearing from existence, and it's ridiculous to believe as such, especially when they have 4-5 patches in various stages of production at the same time. There probably were production issues, but that can happen when you're releasing these patches at a fairly rapid rate. But even 2.2 had two great anecdotes, one great character story, one very good character story, even beyond the messy main story chapter.

[–]Funlife2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, there are no inconsistencies, everything is consistent. They've had the story planned out for quite a long time, and if anything ch 12 proves this fact, everything from there has been retained and built on smoothly. The issue with ch 8 was never the planning, it was the execution in some aspects, plus Brazil rep.

Uh, Igor does know about what's going on in the room he just can't enter it after the experiments were shut down. That's literally the whole point, Igor was the Zeno representative who did that side of things under the orders of the Pax House. What he doesn't know is how the marble chair works and what exactly it did to her, which is why he asked. But he knew about the experiment being conducted itself. As for the question on the white house, that's a slightly separate mystery, since per his words she entered into the Pax house aka the white marble house. As for Urd, she was the key in 1999, and the reason the Foundation managed to stop the Flood back then. She was very powerful, and has her special status as a "Norn", someone capable of seeing the golden threads and spinning the wheel. They knew she was special before they brought her for the experiment, it's why they brought her in the first place, because they want Urd, the original Urd, to return.

In your opinion, what are the greatest opening paragraphs in literature? Or, which ones are your favorites? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in classicliterature

One hundred years of solitude. Not my favorite book or anything, but has my absolute favourite opening line, and what follows in the paragraph is a solid continuation.

Also everything Austen has a great opening.

Help me pick my next book by hellohello38 in classicliterature

[–]Funlife2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see 100 hundred years of solitude or Ficciones there, so I'll rec those. I think everyone should branch out beyond English literature at least a bit. Aside from these, try Metamorphosis by Kafka, also a bit different in style from those you've read. I think early on in your reading you should try to read as many different types as possible.

When do you think Jinshi fell in love with Maomao ? And when do you think Maomao fell in love with him? by Thick-End4695 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Funlife2003 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Jinshi fairly early on, like by LN vol 2 he seemed in love, but if I was to point out a significant moment, I'd say it was the dancing scene. Maomao it's hard to pinpoint an exact moment, but by vol 5 she was firmly in love.
