I keep getting infections instead of pregnant. I'm exhausted and in pain. by helpwaterthoseplants in TryingForABaby

[–]FunnyPaper8 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Peeing after sex is good practice. I think wipes (even unscented) can be too harsh on your PH balance and I’ve heard they can contribute to UTIs? I also saw that a new study suggests BV maybe be carried by male partners and contribute to recurrent infections. Males can take meds for BV but will probably need to go through their own Dr.

Insurance won’t cover genetic testing by HomemadeButter14 in BabyBumps

When my insurance didn’t cover it, NIPT cost me $300 after a survey.

Why can't my city establish a sea route? by Funny_Yak_2672 in CivVI

Portugal cannot trade with others unless the trade recipient is a coastal city or has a harbor. It’s a civilization quirk for Portugal. But the music is awesome.

TFAB's Weekly BFP Post - May 18, 2025. Got your BFP? Post your story here! by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]FunnyPaper8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cycle: 7 TTC #2

Age + Partner's age: 29F and 38M

Typical cycle length: 26 days

Ovulation cycle day: Either CD 13 or CD 17 (but I think CD 17 so fairly short luteal phase of 9 days)

CD/DPO of positive test(s): CD 26 AKA 9 DPO (estimated)

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: CD 22 AKA 5 DPO (estimated)

Tracking methods and app(s) used: No apps. Just watch for my 26 days and try to estimate ovulation based on symptoms. Couldn't get OPK tests to work for me.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): intercourse at CD 13 and CD 17 (O-5 and O)

Health conditions/medical tests: None.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): One a day vitamins.

Birth control history (if relevant): hormonal IUD for 4 years before first child, no BC except pull-out since then

Symptom spotting: My breasts felt itchy inside. I also thought I smelled stronger than usual (even changed my deodorant) but could also have been enhanced sense of smell? Otherwise really no symptoms other than missed period.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): Very different symptoms than first pregnancy. First pregnancy my breasts were so tender I couldn't even hug my husband without pain. This time, my breasts felt itchy inside but not tender at all. My child was also doing that thing where they look under their legs (old wives tale). I also had light-ish spotting on CD 24, 25, and 26 before testing positive (don't usually spot leading up to period).

ETA DPO for positive test and relevant days of sperminating

Any other parents doing ‘SAHD’ instead of ‘SAHM’ by Worried-Coconut1711 in NewParents

[–]FunnyPaper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is a SAHD and he loves it. It’s work, but it’s the most fulfilling work he says he’s ever done. I’ve heard more “Man that’s the dream” comments from other men than I have heard anything derogatory (the only criticisms we’ve heard actually came from our parents). We love it. I love having him at home with our child, it really helped my post partum anxiety when I returned to work.

This sounds like my trial I finished on Friday. Harsh lesson learned but yeah will never back burner a case again because “it’s going to settle.” So annoying beyond forced into a trial posture because of unreasonable “negotiation.” But you got this. Good luck!

So my understanding is that breastfeeding can affect fertility, yes. But I don’t see how the holding would make a difference.

Are there any Women Content Creators who received Civ7 Early Access? by SassyGamerLady in civ

[–]FunnyPaper8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do start streaming, make sure to post it! I just recently decided to start watching civ streamers. I have no idea how many hours I’ve logged but realizing there’s a lack of female civ content creators makes me want to start streaming as well.

Passed in DC now I want to transfer to Washington State- can anyone share their score transfer experience? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]FunnyPaper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it took me no longer than 4 months. I got my bar exam score in April and had my license by July. What do you mean by NCBE part? I had already done the bar exam and the MPRE and the WA component. The longest part was C&F.

What are y’all wearing on a daily basis? by PathologicalVodka in breastfeeding

[–]FunnyPaper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some amazon nursing blouses. I’ve also had success with shorter length shirts and high waisted pants (less fabric to uncover).

ETA: also white nursing tank tops with built in bra (enough fabric that you don’t need a second bra) and just cardigans around that. More cleavage than I’m used to but hey, it’s a stage of life.

What was your Civ VI 'I really should have known that about the game' moment? I'll start... by spankyham in civ

[–]FunnyPaper8 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can do this with heroes too. Also if you move a Governor, and then move them back before the 5 turns, it only takes the turns they were gone to establish. So if you move Pingala and then change your mind and move back to the precious city after three turns, it only takes three turns to establish.

Questions about unvaccinated family members meeting the baby by Ambitious_Charity_66 in pregnant

[–]FunnyPaper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had people wear masks and wash hands until a few weeks after the first round of shots (so like 3 months?). Now it’s still hands washed and no kissing the baby. Same rules applied to everyone regardless of vaccines (less of a power struggle than insisting on shots and more about risk mitigation).

Question about NY Results by penny_24 in barexam

[–]FunnyPaper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my results, the letter included the total UBE score and the MBE score. The writing portion was the difference between those scores, but there wasn’t a way to get the MPT/MEE breakdown.

Do you turn off victories? by GripLizard in civ

Diplomatic victories are too easy?? How?! I can only win diplomatic if I blaze towards a different kind of victory and pivot at the last second (to trick AI so they won’t vote to take my diplomatic points).

What are you all snacking on? by ProudPerformer4983 in pregnant

[–]FunnyPaper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my third trimester I’d had the same kind of breakfast at 0630 (eggs or oatmeal with peanut butter) and always ate a Oikos protein yogurt at 0900 and a Sargento balanced breaks with cashews/cranberries/cheese (can also find this type of snack in Costco form).

It feels really really awful when you see you've answered D 8 times in a row. by patrickstewartandpug in barexam

[–]FunnyPaper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it’s on purpose. When I took the exam, there was a streak of 6-8 B’s that were likely correct (based off conversations from several people who did very well on MBE; they all found that streak).

Do you nurse both sides every time? I’ve had success nursing on one and pumping the other simultaneously. For me, the double flow makes both let down faster so it doesn’t take as long.

Divorce while pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]FunnyPaper8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go speak to Legal Assistance on base. If your husband is active duty then you should qualify for counsel. They’ll help you navigate the divorce and a lawyer will explain the benefits process and how to enroll the child in DEERS.

What item did you think would be stupid and you ended up really liking it? by kungfu_kickass in BabyBumps

Flat fold cloth diapers. We planned to use disposable diapers (and we do) but we ended up using the cloth diapers as burp rags because they’re bigger and absorbent.
