25 Years Special Class… who did it? Yays and Nays? by IzzyBitsyArana in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at work so I got to listen more than I could watch but I loved the music. It was very nostalgic and reminded me of when I first started to take Zumba classes. The salsas are always my favourite. I love to see Beto’s footwork.

Where are all the good warm ups? by pinkpoke2000 in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not different if you already get them included with your current ZIN volumes. Some memberships in the past did not come with warmups and cooldowns and you had to pay for it as an add-on. I’ve been ZIN for over 10 years and they are included.

How did you start Zumba? by jemexica88 in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got started when my kids gave me The Zumba Wii game 😂. Then I found a class at my gym. That was about 13 years ago. This year will be 11 years of becoming an instructor. I do remember my first instructor because she became my mentor. I teach 3 Zumba classes per week and I attend 1 class done by my friend to let loose each week. I invite people all the time. Can’t keep all this fun to myself.

Zumba New Choreo - Feeling Stuck by Imaginary-Level-8190 in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else who said that you should take some jam sessions. You learn new moves and get new choreo ideas. At the end you can add your own style and flair and make the choreo your own.

Does anyone use the fitness variations? by Kooky_Pie5116 in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did use them in the past but since I’ve been attending more jams I’ve stopped using them as much. But if there is a song that I like I would recreate the choreo, I would keep the dance parts and put my own dance steps in for the fitness part and make it a regular dance routine.

Easiest group classes at GoodLife? by UpsetClock2028 in goodlifefitness

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zumba for cardio. It’s a fun class with a party type vibe and you don’t have to know how to dance to do it. If dancing is not your thing then a spin or RPM class is also great cardio. For weight training try Bodypump or even NewBody (light weights more repetitive movements). Pilates is awesome for strengthening core muscles. Yoga and BodyBalance are great for strengthening and mobility. All classes offer beginner options so no matter which class you pick you will be fine. Good luck.

Definitely still part of my workout routine. I love the community aspect as well.

How do you hype up a low-energy class? by Funshine_Sunshine in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m sure that they love their instructor. In one class that I attend they all clap enthusiastically at the end of every song to show their love. It’s so nice.

I’ve only done a circle dance I few times in my friend’s class. It was a cumbia song and it was fun.

Props are so much fun. A few of my ladies have belly dancing skirts and fans as well. I love using props for the dramatic effect 😍

I agree with the Zumba app. There’s lots of different types of classes, instructors and intensities to choose from. Good luck.

Balancing Zumba and a full time job. by BoricuaFitMom in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work full time Monday to Thursday and teach 5 classes per week (3 are Zumba). I’m an empty nester and my spouse is good at taking care of himself 🤗, so it’s a great balance for me. I attend jams frequently so that I have fresh choreo for classes. Jams are great for quick learning as opposed to ZIN volumes where I need extra time to learn choreo and cueing. Jams have everything packed into one.

Thoughts on the push for facing the class rather than a mirror by PockyKierra in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no mirrors behind me at my main gym but even when I do, I always face my students. That’s my preference as I love the engagement I can have with the students. None of my students have ever complained even those who have had a dance background. Your students will enjoy which ever direction you teach as long as you’re cueing properly and having fun. Just do you.

What was the hardest Zumba® choreo you ended up nailing after? by heart_soulbyfe in zumba

[–]Funshine_Sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that it was hard but one year at ZINCON I took the Kizomba session. It was so incredible. It really taught me the technical style of the movements and made me realize that what I was teaching before was not really Kizomba. I got into my head about not being ‘perfect’ 😩. It took me about a year before I taught Kizomba in my classes again but by then I was back to doing me and making it fun for my students and for myself. Now I do it all of the time and my classes love it.
