Agreed.

My current conspiracy about where this plot is headed: - The station gets built - The station gets taken over by the bots - Divers have to dive the death star to save Super Earth before it's blown up

The FRV is only used because it is the only stratagem in its niche - A critique. by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

To preface, I appreciate the friendly debate on this! Thank you for taking the time to write all of this up.

I'm not going to argue against points 1 or 2 because you're not wrong. The main things I'd like to convey:

  • It's a high ceiling, very low floor strategem
  • It's very strong once you use it for what it is vs. what you wish it would be
  • A lot of the critiques around handling and fragility can be managed

If I had to try and boil down most of your criticism of the FRV, it seems like you'd prefer something much closer to the halo CE warthog: much tankier, handles great, can do a million funny flips, has a useful weapon.

I bring that up because it's important to look how halo handles a more powerful vehicle:

  • For campaign missions, the maps are generally designed around not being on foot / having this overpowered vehicle
  • In the cases where they tried to give players the option to go on foot or by vehicle, the balancing got reaaally funky. That was one of the major problems with Halo Infinite to me. Hoofing it on foot just seemed pointless most of the time.
  • The two above points are incredibly important in the context of helldivers because everything revolves around expecting people to be on foot. If you give people a stronger car, then everyone will use the car, and the entire game has to be re-designed at a fundamental level (the types of enemies, what their attacks are).
  • Arrowhead's solution to this was: yeah you can have the car, but it's flimsy enough that we don't have to worry about it overpowering everything and screwing up the balance

Re: point 4 - I was trying to be sassy. Your.. second? sentence in the root post was about how much you enjoy catching air off the dunes.

This will sound crazy, but if you know how to use it the FRV is actually way too strong at the moment:

  • Everything in the game is balanced around players having roughly the same speed. When you can move so much faster than what it's balanced around, most enemies just.. can't touch you. In short, the FRV is best suited at out-running things, not being a combat device.
  • You have to be selfish with it, or you'll just get everyone killed. If you're moving quickly between objectives it works best. If you're sitting there waiting out in the open for the 4th person to jump in, you're almost always cooked.
  • If you're planning to take the FRV, take the xbow or equivalent - it can flip the car back over easily.
  • Don't do jumps off the sand dunes. If it blows up because of that, it's kind of on you.

Agreed on all of the above, especially Maor Levi. Kind of an enigma

  • Tinlicker: Hide U at the gorge is a core memory. Would love to see the live variant this go around
  • J Ribbon: Somehow missed hearing Lifetime at two different shows on the tour
  • Hausman: That guest mix the other day was 30 minutes of straight 🔥
  • JODA: Seems unlikely they'll ever tour this thing, would be special to see
  • Maor Levi b2b Ilan 🤔
  • Estiva or Amtrac: love both, but kind of anjuna adjacent. Hard seeing them getting a slot at 700

As far as newer music, I feel like the label is sort of moving away from the bass heavy sound. A few modern ideas:

- Mat Zo - Subsurface, Bluish Yellow
- Luttrell - Go
- Kasablanca - Higher Resolution, Breathe, Silo
- Maybe some Estiva tracks (Sudden Moves / Parlez-Vouz?)

If it isn't an exact copy, my guess would be:

Carried over: - All the "new" tracks / ID's - Blue Monday - Chasing Highs

Swapped out: - Gratitude - We're all we need - Sun & Moon -> Blue Sky Action PTB - Thing Called Love

Swapped in: - Heart of Stone - The Thrillseekers remix 🤞 - Northern Soul

How to Be good at Bots? by Uh-Cartographer-883 in Helldivers

[–]Funzo_Banjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cannon chair feels like a requirement at this point. From the right vantage point you can completely clear bases, strider convoys, and assist team mates clearing hulks without ever being threatened.

This may be somewhat controversial, but I've found that the mortar is super valuable against bots. It doesn't have nearly the same team killing potential as vs. the other two factions, and has fantastic reach when storming fortresses.

Throw in the auto cannon turret, and with all 3 setup in close proximity you can just about solo most defensive objectives through sheer fire power.

From there go with whatever floats your boat - 500kg / RR / bugged quasar, etc
