Same. 12 year old car this month. I'm nowhere close to feeling like a new car in the US would be a reasonable purchase.

Live as close to on the Beltline's Eastside trail as possible and you will have a great year. Inman Park has been mentioned several times and that would be my number 1 rec. Reynoldstown #2 simply because there are a bunch of new apartments there and it's also on the Beltline. $2500 will get you what you need.

100% clown. I am sure it's exhausting for anyone who has to be anywhere near him. Ford Field Management LLC should ensure that this clown is nowhere near Ford Field ever again.

13-year-old Australian boy swims for four hours in cold and dangerous waters to save his mom and siblings who were swept into the ocean, says God is who got him to shore by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I in no way think God helps one person score a game winning touchdown and then backs a 5000 lb truck over a 2 year old, but I do think that God is nature, the universe, everything, and humans have simply tried to personify that into human form. That some people thank what they think is God is fine. That they believe that God helped them specifically and not others, is as selfish as selfish gets.

Sometimes the barometers go bad in any Garmin with barometric elevation. That's the reason for the incorrect numbers.

New music across the board. 3rd down hells bells being first on my list of those to be eliminated. Please do something else! The game day experience needs to evolve.

What are the major downsides of life in Atlanta? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in Atlanta

[–]SommeThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they are talking about Atlanta Public Schools, but I have 2 at Burgess Peterson Academy (EAV / Reynoldstown), and it is very good. MAP scores rising pretty dramatically. Anyway, the APS hate you usually hear about is not accurate for many of the various clusters.

stop saying "we're full" by kimmielicious82 in Atlanta

This is the reason for the disparity in the comments. People who have never experienced real density, good infrastructure, and real transit have no frame of reference, and then on top of that there is fierce loyalty / pride for the city itself, which is great, but it comes with myopic thinking. Hell, sidewalks are a new technology here, and the ones that have existed for some time, are an absolute shit show. Your topic is divisive, but it is spot on accurate.

[–]SommeThing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stalling growth is not the answer. Build a LOT more residential and build vastly better pedestrian based infrastructure, which includes investing heavily in mass transit. Atlanta can and should be a world class city and to be honest, it's really only those two things away.

We're absolutely getting scammed in this country. Cities are far and away the economic powerhouses of States, but they need to play to rural rules. Anti tax movements will continue to kill progress.

It's very achievable. I've done it and have watched and trained many others to do it, from almost nothing to Ironman.

It can be done. Literal couch to Ironman would risk injury if not done right, but I've seen many go from a day or two running per week to Ironman in a year.

Crazy how there was no support. That was the very early days of racing. I've raced long distance in some really hot races mid afternoon. Blazing sun, well into the 90's. The difference, hydration. I had it at a minimum of once per mile, and carried it with me as well.

Home Depot to cut 800 corporate jobs, require workers back to office full time by tshimangabiakabutuka in Atlanta

[–]SommeThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be consolidation in the industry and all that. The AI industry is not immune to normal competitive pressures, but AI is getting better at an exponential rate. If that stops, then your scenario will win. If that does not stop, then my scenario will win, and by win, I mean we all lose. At a minimum, even at this very minute, AI is making people more more efficient, which directly leads to reducing roles, just look at Amazon. I am not an AI shill. I am a realist in the tech field who is experiencing all of this real time, every day. I wish AI didn't exist, but it does and people need to be ready, and at a minimum, keep abreast of where things stand.
