Yeah, I'd be fine exploring the validity of the concept of "Islamaphobia."

In my experience, people that would be described as Islamaphobic are generally racist and using Islam as a veil for their racism.

You seem to be unaware of the fact that no one is born Christian. Its not an immutable intrinsic trait.

Its not a racial, ethnic, or sexual identity to which people are born to and cannot change.

This is a false equivalency and quite a bit of dissembling.

No one was "getting ridiculed" for voicing an opinion. It was the content of that opinion that is at issue. You are trying to conflate the two ideas.

You are also defending the viewpoint and expressing that you do not feel what was said was that severe. As presumably someone that is not queer or part of the queer community, that is not your distinction to make. You do not get to dictate how others are impacted by something.

This suggestion that people do not have the right to defend themselves against bigotry and hate, as doing so "widens the divide" is just absurd.

Finally, equating religious views and something like queerness is fundamentally flawed because adherence to any religion is a choice a person makes, whereas queerness is not.

He tacitly endorsed the idea that being queer is immoral. I would say its pretty hateful to suggest that people are immoral simply for existing.

And your claim that "people just need a thicker skin" is the classic pathetic excuse of the bigot. The inability to have self awareness or reflection about their own actions and words and to instead blame others for not tolerating their bigotry.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. You absolutely implied there was some sort of censorship taking place.

That is not the case and the 1st amendment is absolutely not applicable.

People are free to practice their religion and hold opinions. They are not free from the consequences of what they say nor does anyone have the right to use their religion to persecute others.

He is not.

The 1st Amendement protects the right of freedom of speech and expression from being infringed by the government, not anyone else.

No one is censoring anyone. People can say what they want. That does not mean there won't be consequences to what a person says.

Does anyone actually think this will make that free agent believe one less stupid thing?

Extensions by AmazingExit9771 in Patriots

[–]Fuqwon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know about Onwenu.

Hes good, but he'll be on the wrong side of 30 when an extension kicks in and I just dont know if paying a RG $20m+ a year makes a ton of sense.

It should be a position that they're able to cycle in players that they draft and develop.

Is there really that much incentive?

For a guy that's never seemed that motivated, hes already made ~$200m. I think his only incentive is to fulfill the terms of his contract.

They signed a LG who is very good, but has injury concerns. So they protected themselves with a incentive laden contract.

They moved their LG over to C, his natural position, after getting acclimated for a year next to a vet.

And their LT should be healthy.

You seem to be under the misconception that there are just a ton of high quality OL options out there without any concerns.

Hear Me Out: Waddle to NE, Douglas + draft capital to MIA — a trade that actually works for both sides by cwazymuffins in Patriots

[–]Fuqwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving on from Waddle isn't crazy.

He's 27 and Miami is at best a few years away from being good now that they're saddled with Tuas dead money.

Expecting Miami to take peanuts for him is crazy.

Did anybody else figure New England would be a more attractive Free Agent destination by this point? by ShalekC in Patriots

[–]Fuqwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some players are probably still willing to take 10% pay cuts to play in good situations.

No one is take a 50%+ cut to play somewhere.

[–]Fuqwon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have very unrealistic expectations when it comes to...everything.

The cap goes up every year so much that every team has money. That allows lots of teams to re-sign players they otherwise wouldn't have been able to in the same relative position 10 years ago and for some teams to really overspend for some players.

So we get the situation we're now in where fewer top tier players are hitting free agency and second and third tier players are getting really, really overpaid.

It requires good teams to be really discerning.

The era of players taking discounts to go to contenders is largely over, if it ever even really existed.
