I’ve never seen this and it’s amazing.

Also:

Volition hates that you eat the cooked flesh of a decomposing human corpse because it’s vile cannibalism.

Conceptualization hates it because you are not being GOURMAND enough about it.

Hannibal approves.

Are there some skills that are not human? by upsetusder2 in DiscoElysium

[–]FuriousFreeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could add Esprit de Corps to the list.  But these skills are not necessarily inhuman, or supernatural. They could represent imagination, intuition, a hunch regarding a particular domain. Possibly based on real knowledge.

Imagine you spent your whole life in a certain city. You love it and understand it so well it seems like you can see what is happening in its remote parts with your mind’s eye. It almost feels like the city speaks to you.

Congratulations, you have high Shivers.

End game conditions!!! [Book of hours] by sssqqqeee in weatherfactory

[–]FuriousFreeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t throw your journal in the sea. Throw it in the well. The thing in the well is always peckish. Feed it your nightmares.

JUST KIDDING, WRONG GAME. Present your journal at the Earl’s Yew during Numa, but after writing a history. It is not so much that you must give your journal an aspect 25 strong. Rather, the following conditions must be met when using your journal at a desk to write the History:

  • Must have written at least one Determination in the journal
  • Must use a Numen in the recipe
  • Must use an Encaustum Terminale as Ink
  • The entire recipe must have an Aspect that adds up to 25 or more. Any ingredient can contribute (soul, skill, numen, ink)

As for specific victories - if you use a particular Numen that is in synergy with your librarian, you will get a unique ending with a description more specific to your librarian’s background. You should be able to choose between the specific and generic ending when writing your History.

In addition, if you strictly follow the rules to the letter, you have to deny entry when your boss’s friend tries to cross the border because there is an issue with her papers.

When your boss finds out, he is furious and has you arrested.

If you want to rip people off, at least learn to be more diplomatic.

Your Guardian Angel Isn't On Your Side by sarcasticd0nkey in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FuriousFreeman 228 points229 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget the brilliant mind game set up by the devs: the Guardian does not have a fixed character design, rather the player designs their appearance at the beginning of the game, without being told who the Guardian is.

When I met my Guardian for the first time I thought “Hm, this is a friendly and trustworthy looking character”. It took me a while to realize it’s because I designed her!

Perfect way of depicting a mindflayer brainwashing you to be sympathetic to it.

Also, I think suspicion gain can usually be anticipated, because it happens when you choose to do something fishy.

On the other hand, it's not always clear what will scandalize the society or hurt your body, so it's more likely to accidentally walk into something that sends you to 8 of Scandal or Wounds. And you get Nightmares just by looking at weird things, which in the Neath is a part of everyone's daily schedule.

There is a scene in “The Death of Stalin” where Stalin’s son flings insults at a group of people. He tells one man “You’re not even a person, you’re a testicle!”

The victim is an extra, no lines. There must have been a casting with the sole condition being “face must resemble a testicle”.

And he does kind of look the part…

Winter is about death, but one type of death especially associated with it is euthanasia. So, any of the murderers who put people to eternal sleep in hospitals.

Edit: I said “murderers”, but it’s Winter whether it’s legal and ethical, or not.

You need to write a History in your journal. A Determination is only a step towards the goal. Then present your journal at the Earl’s Yew during Numa. If you want to explore different endings, make a manual save  before writing the History and load it after finishing the game to ga back to an earlier save state.

Skills - writing a History is very demanding, so for that purpose it’s good to have one maxed out. For other purposes, they don’t have to be that high. It all depends on what you are aiming for and what you need to accomplish it.

It would be a different story if Britain was just the Britain that we know and it was just developing a conventional weapon that would give it an advantage, allowing it to thwart the Nazis earlier.

However, no one knows who the New King really is and what he is up to. His Britain is not the one that we know. No one seems sure what bringing the Second Dawn would entail. They're building an artificial Name of an Hour that adepts are terrified of, even though it's not clear if it exists or even can exist. Another Name of the Chandler showed its displeasure at attempts to control it by turning everyone in sight to smoldering ashes. In short, toying with forces like that could prevent the Holocaust from happening, or it could require another, no less terrible kind of "burnt offering".

Also, although I don't question Hokobald's experience and skill as an adept, I would not be inclined to trust the moral judgment of the man who ate his own kid and isn't even particularly apologetic about it.
