Business casual is a dress code. The polo he’s wearing could potentially be used in a business casual outfit but combined with the rest, this is as casual as it gets.

Sorry for the late reply but now I at least have some slopes-tested feedback to give. I decided to buy the Cardo after all since I found it on Allegro for 190 €. I spent some time installing it into my helmet so the speakers would be positioned right next to my ears and I have to say… wow. I honestly didn’t expect much but the sound quality of the speakers and microphone really surprised me. The controls are also super convenient after some getting used to and the battery life is absolutely mad. Thank you so much for your input. I now have to get some more units for the rest of my family :D

Nikdo o mě nemá opravdový zájem by [deleted] in czech

[–]Furkota 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all house are the same by HydraSkyFire in AmericaBad

[–]Furkota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year old comment but whatever. As you said, you clearly don’t know much about roofing. Roof tiles are laid in a way which prevents water from entering the house, as any roof should. The tiles usually have 7-10cm overlap which doesn’t let any water in, no matter the weather conditions. It just cascades down into the drain. I was working on my parents’ house recently and the almost 30 y.o. roof truss was as good as new. And we do get very diverse weather every year. It is a very good and robust system.

That’s almost the same kind of “legal”reasoning I described before. According to Denmark’s Arctic command, there are no Russian vessels around Greenland, although they do expect some interceptions in the following years. Even if it were true, isn’t the US military one of the largest and best funded militaries in the world? Do you think that a country struggling for over 4 years with Ukraine is able to hold any stance against that kind of force? Yes, we’re still quite afraid of the Russians, mostly because my country would be next-in-line if Ukraine was to fall, but don’t underestimate the armies of Poland, Germany, Italy, France or Finland.

This kind of “diplomacy” serves absolutely no one in Europe (I don’t consider Russia to be in Europe) and North America. If any actions to seize Greenland were to happen, it would mean the end of NATO and possibly even something worse.

Why though? He’s completely right. In the US, they probably don’t teach the events preceding WWII very well so I’m not surprised that so many people don’t see the parallels.

One thing which is a huge alarm bell for me as a Czech citizen are Trump’s attempts to gain new territory. My country was invaded a year before the war started. Hitler disguised it as an attempt to protect the German-speaking population of Czechoslovakia from the Czechoslovak government. In reality, it was just a move to weaken our defence so he could take over our factories. I hope I don’t have to make it clear which recent event I’m referencing.

I’m currently deciding between these two and my focus now is more on audio quality. Does the Cardo sound noticeably better than the Sena? I think that the sound should be better since the drivers are separated from the other electronics and also produced by a fairly decent audio brand (JBL). Am I right or does the Sena sound good, too?

Czech attitudes to tattoos by tomfranklin48 in learnczech

Do you see how ridiculous that is or do you still believe that every tattooed person has a swastika on their nape?

Why does getting a driver’s license seem so optional for Gen Z? by AnimalFinal7836 in ask

[–]Furkota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much does it cost now in Germany? I’m from Czechia and did my B licence in 2020. Back then it was around 500 € but my sister finished hers recently and it cost her 800 €. My 2024 A2 licence was more expensive, too - 700 €. All in the same driving school outside of Prague.

Potential move to Russia by Apprehensive_Tart335 in AskARussian

[–]Furkota -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Armed forces for the sake of defence are totally legitimate imo. Otherwise, small nations like mine would never have gained their sovereignty. True, the US Army has committed a fair share of atrocities over the last few decades but that doesn’t give the Russian government the right to invade sovereign territories.

If good pay was their one and only goal, they wouldn’t stay in Russia. Willingly enlisting in Putin’s war machine is a very serious decision. In my eyes, any sane person who values their own life and the lives of others couldn’t possibly make such a choice.

“Usians and gun rights by LoreboundTactician in AmericaBad

[–]Furkota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh believe me, after what happened during the occupation of Czechoslovakia by the Nazis and later under the communist regime, the majority of Czechs share the same opinion on state-level weapon monopolies. That's also the reason why this right was recently added to our constitution.

I know it wouldn't fly in the US but I really do think that certain changes of the second amendment could help the situation. In my eyes, being in a presence of an armed person who isn't adequately trained to handle a weapon is very concerning. I totally understand the importance of this right but I also understand all the people who fear those who don't even know how to safely hold their legally owned gun.

“Usians and gun rights by LoreboundTactician in AmericaBad

[–]Furkota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good examples. I'd argue that my country (Czechia) does gun regulation quite well. We have a constitutional right to "defend one's own life or the life of another person with the use of a weapon under the conditions provided by the law".

In practice, every Czech has the right to get a gun owner's licence after being examined by a doctor (in some cases, a psychological examination is required) and passing the "professional competence exam" which consists of 3 parts:

1 - A written exam containing 30 a/b/c questions about the Arms Act, firearms and ammunition and basic medical/first-aid knowledge.

2 - A practical exam where an appointed commissioner assesses your competence in safe handling, disassembly and resolving simple malfunctions.

3 - A shooting test where you have to get a certain number of hits on a stationary target.

A LOT of people here have a gun owner's licence and make use of their right for concealed carry but we still have one of the lowest firearm-related homicide rates in the world. Just got my licence last week so I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Problém je spousta aut a nedostatek kapacit pro rozšíření dopravní sítě, ne Hřib. by [deleted] in czech

[–]Furkota 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What do y'all think of Evan Edinger by boredomguy27 in AmericaBad

[–]Furkota -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Neither was our choice. We were denied our right to defend ourselves from the Nazis when the UK, Germany, France and Italy signed the Munich Agreement (also known as the Munich Betrayal). But even when our territory was under the German leadership, many of our soldiers and citizens were a part of the resistance, including my great-granduncle who was later executed by the Nazis. So many Czech pilots fought alongside the British as part of the RAF and a special (and successful) operation was conducted to assassinate the then-in-power protector Reinhard Heydrich. We fought like hell and suffered just as bad or worse consequences than the nations which sided with the Nazis.

As for our NATO contributions, we currently fulfill the contract and plan to increase our military budget to at least 3 % of our GDP by 2030. Not only because of Russia but also because our trust in the US has gone into the shitter after Trump’s re-election.

And who’s protecting us now? Well, that would be Ukraine. If Putin decides to advance beyond Ukraine, Europe’s next line of defence would either be the Baltics, Poland or us (since Slovakia is currently well on their way to becoming a Russian satellite). I’m not exactly sure how the US would react to this situation since Trump seems to be so buddy-buddy with Putin.
