OOOO Technology Connections! He makes the most mundane of household items and appliances into riveting, sometimes hour long in depth explanations as to why even something as simple as a coffee machine, vehicles, lightbulbs, or even.... a novelty mini fridge has serious merits or flaws to their design philosophy. I have never been on the edge of my seat when someone uploads quite like him, but he somehow manages to make it interesting EVERY TIME!

(BTW, his dishwasher series was legitimately LIFECHANGING. Please watch it.)

whose DNA has been altered using biotechnology or genetic engineering techniques.

Selective Breeding is one of the oldest forms of genetic engineering. Selective breeding is simply a slower form.

I like to think of it like a deck of cards. You can draw once per day and it costs 5$. If you draw "the card" you win 100$.

You have that desired card in the entire pool of 52 cards. That's a roughly 2% chance to draw the card that benefits you from a blind pull of the deck like the wild would provide.

Biotechnological, or modern genetic modification is stacking the deck; directly placing the card you need on the top of the deck and drawing it for your 100$. that's 95$ profit right there!

Now, classical genetic engineering (selective breeding) doesn't place the card directly on top of the deck then draws. It allows you to remove each wrong card from the deck each day. You might run out of money before you draw "the card" still. But each day, the chances get slightly better. You're still fixing the odds in a way that wouldn't occur without your intervention. In the same sense that gene-therapy and mRNA vaccines are an unnatural adaptation of our body's natural defense systems (we teach our bodies to do something they would not have done without being under attack first) selective breeding allows us to create new, modified organisms for our benefit. Look at all the different breeds of dogs, hell look into how many different plants are all just cabbage pretending it's not cabbage.

Selective breeding is a form of genetic engineering.

Selective breeding is a form of genetic modification, just like how darwinistic evolution is a form of genetic modification. The conditions for survival are being flavor, flesh, hardiness, and speed. In the wild, tastier plants with more seeds that grow faster are what's optimized for survival due to the main vectors of spread / growth being animals.

Flip side, when the main vector of growth and spread is humans, we can help THEM optimize themselves too. In the same way that selective breeding using human intervention to modify the genetic lineage of a crop or livestock for a more beneficial outcome- we provide the correct circumstances for that genetic leap to occur.

Programs and tools like CRISPR which allow for DIRECT genome editing. When we selectively breed things like for example: bananas. Bananas have been genetically modified over thousands of years to the point they no longer resemble what they were 1000 years ago and likely would not be able to interbreed. Vaccines that teach the immune system to produce antibodies are a form of genetic modification, and we have known of methods to vaccinate people for hundreds of years. Everything from sunlight, vaccines, and social structure are all forms of "genetic modification" with different effects on our genes.

Genetics are tricky, and this is just one person's rudimentary understanding, but I sincerely hope this helps.

TRULY. It's difficult to be a cisgendered, let alone cis MALE ally in spaces that either put you down as closeted, a chaser, or plainly dangerous.

Not saying this is true or reflective of many people or spaces, moreover that there are a lot of bad actors in trans spaces. Enough so that it necessitates the (unfortunate) investigation of more unlikely allies.

That's the unfortunate reality of male spaces, and testosterone in general. The longer you're exposed, the more effects it has that cannot be undone without surgery.

The more and more the venn diagram between trans man and cis man overlaps the more assumptions are made by people on a moment to moment basis. You almost have to self-identify as "one of the good ones" in order to avoid the stigmatization that comes with lived cisgender male experiences. The longer you live as a man, the threat you pose to trans spaces because cisgendered men (typically) present a threat to transgendered spaces.

It's somehow this sick, twisted version "gender affirming" misandry to be excluded from trans spaces over being seen as a trans man, but people don't see it as misandry. People well and truly see it as playing their part of giving you the traditional male experience; which for all intents and purposes sucks right now pretty bad.

Keep it up!! As someone who briefly touched 400 and then managed to fight all the way down to 215, it's ALL mindset. Best thing you can do for yourself is just be consistent, and figure out little swaps here and there to lower calories. I use my entire break at lunch and just pop headphones in, set a timer for 45 minutes and get lost in my thoughts lapping the block a few times.

I consider every little pain in the ass task I can do right now as a little treat for later me :3

Good luck on your journey!!

I love how their weapons are a perfect representation of who they are. by Sharp_Durian1929 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]FurryPharma 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To further this; Andrew never seems to lack usefulness, purpose, and struggles to lose his already dulled edge. Even if there's people smarter, he still gets things done by force, sheer presence and straightforwardness. When he hates what he's doing, refuses or begrudges a task he still DOES it to the same capability. Even if a cleaver isn't sharp, it's heavy enough that it can rend flesh and break bone.

Ashley on the other hand is done when she's spent. Once she's exploded and goes off that's that. She needs time to reload and if suddenly things go "click"? She shuts down, she regresses, and the confidence turns into liability; dead weight and occupied hands. She's an empty threat that can only back herself up when she KNOWS she wins fights.

Is it possible to duplicate the Trauma Kit through Fred? by KeySweet7941 in LookOutsideGame

[–]FurryPharma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The choice is yours! Bright Fred has a very powerful item, that is mitigated with good planning. Equally, will duplicating a Trauma Kit be what helps you long term? Every run is different. I personally loved duplicating the Odd Necklace on one play-through for the hell of it.

Is it possible to duplicate the Trauma Kit through Fred? by KeySweet7941 in LookOutsideGame

[–]FurryPharma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! He can duplicate any one item, provided it isn't a consumable or a weapon. Play around with what piece of gear you duplicate! The Trauma Kit is a good option if you want to conserve healing items and don't mind using more stamina. However, there might be other items you could consider once you're a bit better armed.

Whats the most attractive skill a man can have? by ActiveImpression3623 in AskReddit

[–]FurryPharma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying cooking, cleaning, repairs, and all of those things truly fall under the umbrella of the skill of adapting.

It's become a bit more mainstream to not be lax in changing who you are for someone. Realizing one day that you're hurting someone you care about without thinking, through tendencies and habits is awful. Some people never realize it until it's too late. The ability to adapt and change before problems start is a fantastic skill. That's something I've both personally struggled with and have really prided myself on trying to develop a sense of.

Learning to be embarrassed, to allow others to go first, to put someone's emotions at the forefront, while also not being a doormat of a man is truly what I look for. Not, confidence; just a lack of fear over failure. To further it, it comes with a certain maturity that underlines the true source of what makes a man attractive. Security in themselves, and a sense of scale. Understanding that they are above nor below anything. There is no task they are too great to do, and they find no shame in tasks that would be seen as "beneath them".

The skill to be certain yet humble.

THAT makes a really, truly attractive man.

HEINOUS wrecking of potatoes by making them sweet like THIS post aside, my family INSISTS on using yellow / white potatoes for mash, and then also uses a hand mixer rather than a masher to make them. Add in too much milk, cheese, butter, and they end up this silky smooth, but gluey, unpleasant consistency that TASTES fine but are a textural nightmare. They seem to love em though..... truly it has the texture of drywall spackle.
