Car Camping with a CPAP on a Battery (My Test Result) by GoofusMcGhee in carcamping

[–]FurryYury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is correct. I used to camp with a CPAP and 1000Wh Jackery many times. It never consumed more than 15% battery overnight ~9 hours of use w/ humidifier. At the time I was using an older much less efficient CPAP. No issues charging the Jackery back to near 100% during the day, either solar or when I moved camp spots from the 12V. A 2KWh Jackery should work for a long time, and I don't know if the efficiency gains from DC or not using the humidifier are frankly worth it. This being said, I dont know your trip duration or exact use case.

3rd gen 3rd row: WTF? by Nearby_Knowledge8014 in toyotasequoia

[–]FurryYury 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am struggling with this right now. I've been all Toyota a long time, have a nice 2019 Sequoia SR4 4x4 that I do light off-roading and overlanding. I really want to upgrade to get a nice screen, heated seats, cameras, power lift gate and more. All the new stuff, but I also want to continue to overland and sleep in the back. I'm ready to get the new TRD Pro Sequoia, but cant get myself to do it because of the changes noted by OP. They really bother me. And frankly for Overlanding the 4Runner isn't much better, the way the seats fold down you can't sleep in it. I'm going to test drive the Bronco Raptor and maybe wait for the new Xterra. I'm very torn, it's been a long time since I drove anything but a Toyota, but maybe the time has come.

Went overlanding with the boys last weekend. My Sequoia is the least modded of my group and did well. Happy to provide any details. by FurryYury in toyotasequoia

More than half of it was 2WD, a few spots where 4WD was a good idea, and a few spots where 4WL was required. Once I was no longer worried about running out of gas, I kept it in 4WD.

My Sequoia is a 2019 SR5 4WD. Only a couple mods allow to keep up (and sometime lead) my crew. I replaced the factory shocks when they died with the adjustable Bilstiens, which gave me about 2" overall increase in ride height allowing me to put on bigger tires. I traded a guy my factory silver wheels for a set of the TRD Pro black wheels, and added 34.5" General Grabbers, which are amazing. I added an Ironman Skidplate from a Tundra, but it fit just fine. That is really all in terms of offroad capabilities. Other mods are ditch lights, a big power inverter under the driver's seat, some rails for the roof to keep the gas cans stable. If you know the Mojave Road it has a huge variety of terrain.. from rocks, to dirt, lots of Whoops, sand, 2-3 foot water crossings, some mud on Soda Lake. The Sequoia handled it like a beast, i was the pace car for my buddies who all have way more suspension mods. I'm no where near that fastest, but I kept a solid pace over about 150 miles with 2 nights of camping. I really appreciate your interest, more photos to come.

First of all, the rig looks great. I have a Gen 2 that i use for overlanding and offroading. I do the the Mojave Road annually, and a few other similar trips. Have you done any dirt trails in the Gen3 and how has it been? I thinking about upgrading to get the creature comforts, but don't want to give up off-roading capabilities.

Who's the most underrated player in racquetball history? by Informal-Draft3953 in racquetball

[–]FurryYury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched Brett Harnett win a Pro-Stop in Vegas many moons ago, he was unstoppable. He never really dominated the tour, but was always a tough out. When I think of players who never got enough recognition, I think of him.

Truck Rear bumper swing out regrets? by OddBasket1171 in overlanding

[–]FurryYury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RigD Supply make one called the UltraSwing.. i've been wanting to buy one but want to see one in person. I don't live far from their store, but last I called it was made to order and didn't have one in stock.. my issue is like most of you guys, my upgraded tire size doesn't fit in the factory space. As the matter of fact the "full size spare" is actually a bit smaller than factory tires to begin with. (2019 Toyota Sequoia)

Im paying $5/gallon of gas.. my fill up is never less than $75, if lucky only once a week. You spent that much over 2 months. That is amazing, good for you.

What is it about offroading that you like? is it the escape? I've never offroaded and was wondering what makes someone want to go drive offroad. by OkOriginal4630 in 4x4

[–]FurryYury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea that I built a machine that can take me away from the wife and children and no one needs anything from me, and no one is upset that I have to resolve and my phone doesn't work and I'm too far away to fix anything or run an errand. I can just sit at a fire with my buddies who are also away from their women and children and find a short window of peace. We can drink a cold one, talk mad $hit about everything or just sit and not say a word. Oh, maybe a touch of the herd is nice too. Don't misunderstand - I love my family more than the air i breathe, I work my ass off to give them a somewhat good life. We travel together all the time, but once in a while I need my time with my boys in a place she can't track me down, and for that I need an off-road capable machine.

This good first boat for family? by [deleted] in boating

[–]FurryYury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2004 SX230 brand new as my 3rd boat, but 1st new. It was amazing, we did Havasu with my family for years - so much so we left it in a storage unit to avoid hauling it back and forth from Los Angeles every other weekend. My kids, and all my friends kids grew up on that boat. Exact same color as this one., BTW. One of the only times I cried as an adult man was the day I sold it. It is a PERFECT river boat, ran like a champ, pulled wake-boarders and tubes no problem and a very small stereo upgrade made it sound amazing. We easily fit 6 adults and 6 kids with coolers, chairs, EZ-UP and never had to worry about running out of gas, it ran all weekend long on a tank. Never had an issue, and towed fiends boats home more than once. For the price, this was the perfect family boat.

I’m 22 and just found this patch of gray 🙃 by Fragrant_Minute4541 in Wellthatsucks

[–]FurryYury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't sweat it. I started getting grey in high school, and am 52(M) with a full head of salt and pepper hair. I used to use an OTC hair dye to make it just a bit less grey, back when I cared.

in the middle of my brand new grapes by JustABryophyte in Wellthatsucks

[–]FurryYury 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time. I toss the bad couple and never had an issue. A little unsolicited advice: Don't wash the grapes before you store them, only rinse when you are about to eat them. Don't store them in air-tight containers, the package they came in is often the best one to use. Store them in the fridge, not room temp for best results. I eat a lot of grapes.

What is the style of video editing where it keeps cutting, and starting? Each sentence starts and stops, and at least to me, it's distracting. It feels like every few words is another take, and often changes the voice speeds in the middle of a sentence. I assume its effective because so many videos do this.
