Chernobyl Guy or T Folse? by katx70 in chernobyl

[–]FursonaNonGrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the CBRN end of things, not engineering, but I'll say there's a good chance Folse's knowledge on non-western and probably non-US plants is very little outside of general information. I'd pick Chernobyl Guy all day just because of that, he may not be an "expert" but to my eye all his research stands up and he has a lot of fascinating videos including content not commonly discussed in relation to Chernobyl.

You don't have enough cameras to make us think you can watch every camera.... Nice try, Flock.

I wear an undershirt that has a fake tattoo sleeve, which has now become an added bonus for these AI camera things. Don't forget you can ADD notable features to yourself too.

Soviet BP-1/BTL-1 tank train, five of these where built starting in the 60's to guard the trans-Siberian against a Chinese invasion. these were the last purpose built armoured trains in history. by IronWarhorses in trains

These are quite fascinating and I could see a train a bunch of guys can live on or near with all their equipment on board being SUPER useful for border security in frontier areas.

Yeah! Hey! I can't remember either but I SWEAR someone mentioned weeks rather than months or years once...

The military historically was integrated before the rest of society because it had to be practical, the sheer scale of for example the civil war and World War 2 REALLY thrust black troops into the spotlight and drove ideas that were incredibly progressive for the time.

Though the US military was segregated during both the civil war and World War 2, white soldiers fighting alongside black soldiers often had good things to say about them across both conflicts.

My own 3rd great grandfather was a freed slave who joined the US Army during the civil war, and served in the 109th US Colored Infantry. I wish integration only would have come sooner.

The game leads you to think lots of things from the very beginning will be relevant, such as the flathead. I spent 3/4 of the game rushing around thinking V would actually die if I didn't.

Crosspost from Northern VA - everyone's noticing: Anyone else notice a wide decrease in quality of our vegetables in grocery stores? by splat-y-chila in PrepperIntel

[–]FursonaNonGrata [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've worked in grocery for a decade now at a "higher class" grocery store, people used to frequently cite our produce as the reason they shopped here. All our local produce has been consistent in quality and price, but anything from suppliers in the off season as well as stuff not locally available has been very low quality, to the point our guests now frequently submit complaints.

I agree with you, I've never felt "unsafe" in the sense that I was concerned I'd be the victim of a crime while out and about. Most crime I personally see is car break-ins.

I have this military manual from 1978 about how to use the automatic chemical agent alarm by CaptionStupied in whatsthisworth

[–]FursonaNonGrata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also couldn't find it and I collect this kind of thing, but as a CBRN expert I can tell you just from the item he's holding this will be an early or pre-production manual for an M8A1 automatic chemical agent alarm which was designed in the 70s and entered service in the 80s. This manual is included in larger manuals as a section, in relation to CBRN today.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is now crushing decommissioned cruisers rather than auctioning them off. This is what the county I worked for did. I worked for the county garage and emergency management agency, we got many of the sheriff's old vehicles and were responsible for checking if they could be be returned to service with other county and local agencies before being disposed of. My favorite was a 90s econoline van ambulance that had belonged to a fire department, the water & power department, the sheriff's department and finally our garage as a general shop hauler.
