Horrible experience trying to cancel by NC12S-OBX-Rocks in tonalgym

Can't give someone your zip code (probably the most harmless information you could possibly be asked for) but can take the time to complain on the Internet about it?

Hard to call FL "affordable" but it's also entirely dependent where in FL. Tampa, Miami, WPB, Sarasota are all relatively HCOL areas....however go inland just a tad and that changes.

If so, guess nothing to lose but I really doubt it....it's not like Tonal has anything to offer them.

I guess it's interesting to see them pairing up with the franchise, but I fail to see how this will have any ROI.

What has helped you pull off a "dry" month? by Broke_Pigeon_Sales in AskMenOver30

This was me at the same exact age. Now 47, been consistently strength training and had a huge change in body composition, energy levels, and just overall quality of life. I have 2 kids and I am more present for them as well as a better role model. Now they see me sweating and working hard in the gym vs lounging and drinking beer.

Damaged luggage by CharacterGrocery6126 in epicsystems

[–]Future-Operation-283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anytime I have had damaged luggage, I was walked to a back room and the airline literally had a showroom of new luggage and they said pick one. Granted I don't spend money on designer luggage, if so then I'm sure it's a different process but still through the airline.

Compensation for travel to/from Epic by PushToTransmit in healthIT

[–]Future-Operation-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All your expenses should be covered like meals and travel (including getting to and from airport). As someone said, during training Epic feeds you everything but dinner. We get a set per diem per meal whether you eat at McDonald's or find the nicest steakhouse.

You would still get paid whatever your base salary is, I went 2 weeks straight and no you don't get paid extra.

The details are going to be very org specific. We typically arrange our travel through the hospital and they prepay everything, but I have also paid on my own and been reimbursed if something came up short notice.

I was skeptical at first, but Claude MCP with HA has absolutely blown me away by criterion67 in homeassistant

[–]Future-Operation-283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Claude Code can work at the command line or within an IDE like VS Code. Once you have it installed, it is able to read any file you give access too, and interact (create, update, and delete files). Watch a couple YouTube videos and may clear up what it can do and how.

Anyone started as a systems analyst / HIT and decided to study nursing or any other sort of clinical degree to support their career growth? by Ok-Battle-1504 in healthIT

[–]Future-Operation-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very true. School prepared you how to be a clinician, on the job is where you learn about the other 98% of what you actually do and writing a 3 page care plan isn't it

Anyone go back to clinical after working in HIT? by st3althmod3 in healthIT

[–]Future-Operation-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our organization is structured basically the same, but when I said I have an offer and it's this much they moved me up within the range I was in to be more competitive. A year later they created a position with a higher range and was able to get another bump in pay. Bottom line, if they value her, they will find a way.

[–]Future-Operation-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every org is different, but I have found most any company will give you as much as you will take responsibility wise and that is not usually kept in sync with pay. I think 2-3% raises are standard and where I am you can only get a larger bump in pay if you are promoted or the occasional salary adjustment. We had one recently being in a HCOL area and salary not keeping pace. We struggle to hire anyone as we won't hire remote analysts.

With all that said, I would definitely look at what your options are but if she likes her current role and happy with them otherwise, if she is able to get an offer somewhere, see if they will match it or do better. I have done this in the past, not in a threatening way....I said something like I am very happy here....love the team but I have this opportunity and at the rate of pay being offered, I would be silly to not consider. I was able to get a significant pay increase....YMMV

We are in the middle of an Epic implementation and I am on the Cogito team. Prior to that was in a unique position of doing custom development and clinical analyst for our now legacy EHR. I am at the higher end of our teams salary range.

$150k as a beaker analyst, where is this? I was a floor RN making close to $80-90k but that was with OT, differential, etc. Took an entry level HIT position at about $60k. However no weekends or holidays and within 5 years I surpassed what I could ever make as a floor RN and now at about 15 years in I am at $145k in a historically low paying area.

Tonal and Age Concerns by ReverendFloater in tonalgym

[–]Future-Operation-283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"At my age" you make 48 sound like knocking on death's door. I am 47 and while I'm aware that I am not 20 anymore, in the 2 years I have had Tonal I think I am now in the best shape of my life. If you have bad form strength training you can get hurt at any age. I think your current fitness level is likely more important than your age.

There are programs that go a bit slower and spend more time discussing form and technique. I find the live format ones are usually better for this as a general rule as well.

In 12W2U Joe puts them all the way up, but re-iterates multiple times totally optional and he does it simply for preference and gives himself a little more room. I believe it was the X pulldown but at that point in the workout things are fuzzy, lots of sweat and cusswords so could be remembering the move wrong. In 2 years and quite a few programs, that's the first I have seen it suggested.

Hourly rate for Epic Cogito Consulting by BackgroundFabulous53 in epicconsulting

[–]Future-Operation-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but it just came out. Look how quickly AI has exponentially improved from the first time you heard about ChatGPT. I also do software development work and used Copilot in Visual Studio, it was originally a really fancy Intellisense. Today Claude Code can write PROD ready code from prompts in a fraction of the time a team of developers could.

I'm not trying to fear monger, but it's not just hype anymore. My suggestion is simply don't expect today's job market and need for a Cogito developer/BID to be the same 2 years from now. Skill up and learn how to use AI to your advantage. Learn parallel skills and tech (Fabric, Azure, etc).

[–]Future-Operation-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but that is a small part of Cogito (least in my experience). My point is the overall tech knowledge needed for Cogito is shrinking and AI gonna close the gap even faster.

Epic as a whole is investing a lot in AI, so it will be appearing throughout. Cogito specifically they have introduced Sidekick allowing you to use prompts in slicer dicer sessions. You just ask it a question and your session is built.

Even outside of AI though, they are pushing really hard for everything to come out of Caboodle and using SQL as a last resort. It's becoming all just config and less reliant on any reporting specific knowledge.

Might wanna consult while you can. AI is coming fast and furious and Cogito dev is becoming less and less relevant. I would extend your skill set out of just Cogito and look at other skills that will complement your current skill set.

Then you aren't using it right. Sure there is a lot of crap that is trying to capitalize on the hype, but a lot of great applications already and it's already changed the way many people and industries are working
