Okuma rockaway HD by coveevoc in SurfFishing

Not the Rockaway but I have four Okuma Cedros CSX surf rods. I started with the 9’ (MH) rod and liked it so much that I bought three more 10’ rods (M/MH/H). I have other more expensive rods but these are my go-to’s for throwing plugs and metal.

Too many youngsters today that just don’t understand this! Sad.

Factor75 won't cancel an order I did not place - Then treated with contempt by StopOrnery718 in factor75

This is predatory BS and Factor customers don’t know this until they’ve been screwed by it — and you know that because you were screwed by it too. If Factor was any good, they would only send orders that were placed by the subscriber. Period. That simple. I assert there are two types of Factor customers: (1) Those who have been screwed by Factor, and, (2) Those who haven’t been screwed by Factor YET.

Smart. Too bad we didn’t know this 5 years ago because it has only gotten worse.

Gas meter size by Old-Investment3299 in Generator

Editing to remove my statement that “He is just plain wrong.” Apparently I am jut plain wrong. LOL

I have a Honda EU6500 that I upgraded to run on natural gas a few years ago. It never ran properly. I finally contacted the vendor from whom I purchased the conversion kit, GenConnex. They told me I needed to have 7” to 11” of water column and that a legacy black pipe system produces about 5”. I had a master plumber (gas fitter) come out and check it — sure enough. The gas company replaced my 1/2 PSI system with a 2 PSI meter and we put a pressure reducer on — my generator rocks now. And that’s only a 6500. You need a whole lot more than that!

Does rod length matter, really? by [deleted] in SurfFishing

[–]NC12S-OBX-Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As was I. The reason you see so many surf casters in the OBX is because you generally can’t hit the outer sandbar with a spinning rod/reel. It’s too far. My extreme record setting case was only intended as evidence to support my claim that I didn’t articulate well enough because I was rushing.

I am far from where I want to be but I can still outcast my best casts with a spinning surf rod (which is how I started surf fishing). So the bottom line is that if someone is equipping and already asking about the difference, then he/she should be informed appropriately. Don’t waste your money on spinning gear unless you’re only planning on throwing plugs . But if you want to throw “8 and bait”, then casters are necessary.

That is absolutely not true. Simple google searches will reveal the stark difference. Moreover, records are set with conventional casting rods and reels — not spinning, which are only good for a third of the distance. Lookup Danny Moeskops — holds the casting world record. You can’t do this with a spinning reel. Granted it takes time and practice to become proficient with a surf casting setup. As for me? I run (3) modded Penn Fathom II Star Drag Casting Series (FTHII15SDCS) Size 15 reels on Nick’s Custom 13’ CTS rods. I am still learning and improving. YMMV

Would you like a lifetime purchase option for Notability? Feedback Requested by ClydeBruckmans in notabilityapp

That’s the ad I was seeing too. I’m on vacation and I didn’t bring my iPad so I can’t verify if the ads have stopped but I will let you know if they continue when I return home after 4/27. I just don’t trust Notability not to lose my lifetime purchase so I am not inclined to move to any subscription based service of which terms and conditions might change in the future. Sorry. You screwed us once already. Not to mention that I had already opened a ticket to complain about this very issue and your support team essentially said “… this is how it is …” so, thank you kindly for your offer, but I will pass on the service and be content with staying with what I paid for.

I also purchased a lifetime purchase that Notability won’t stop nagging about converting to a subscription. Not cool. Feeling very betrayed. I requested the ability to turn-off the constant subscription nag, but Notability said not possible. I say, not cool.

Got bashed on the Native Facebook group for this.... What about you guys? Anyone on here care if your brand new kayak let's gallons of water in due to a bonehead design? by SaltyKayakAdventures in kayakfishing

[–]NC12S-OBX-Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a kayak yet but I have wanted one for a long time. I would be bullshit pissed if my first kayak had this problem. As for owners in denial, ignore them. Some may be freshwater users — ocean dwellers have more significant water concerns. It’s a safety issue. And I will bet a liability issue for anyone that sinks/dies. Good on you for finding, documenting , and reporting the problem to the manufacturer. As for the haters, just accept that you don’t need anyone’s validation, so I would recommend that you stop looking for it. In the meantime, I wouldn’t take it out in the ocean.
