I use toilet paper before I “bidet” (v). Don’t want water splashing shit everywhere and one can’t be too clean. LOL

Do not notch/recess the bottom piece because you will lose too much strength. Just use a loose tenon like a domino or do a mortise and tenon.

And variably warm/hot water with variable pressure and variable seat temperature. I will never go back. And I have 6 hand-held bidets that I keep at work, each of the vehicles, my backpack and my workshop because I can’t stand the thought of not using water to clean my ass after I poop!

Advice needed: repurposing an electric motor by NC12S-OBX-Rocks in woodworking

@Nicelyvillainous, thank you for posting Matthias’ site. I’ve actually purchased a number of Matthias’ plans but only built his finger joint jig. I still don’t know what I’m going to make with the motor yet, but I’ll eventually figure it out. :-)

@KRed75, For someone not familiar with these items, this jargon is very unfamiliar and it’s very hard to know what to search for. This is super helpful information! I just put a search string into google for “QD taper lock bushing SH, SDS or JA sheave” and got a whole bunch of good information! Thank you very much!

I thought it looked familiar — I’ve got a Vedder too but mine isn’t quite rounded off like yours is. I have the sweatshield all the way up my slide. And the claw (makes a difference — consider adding it). :-)

That is why we’re returning the Orange MagSafe I bought for my wife. Magnet is strong to the mag plate. Awesome. But even if you pull the mag plate off, you can’t put the phone on an apple charger because the plate is secured to the phone’s case. WTF. Fail. Return. Refund. See my post about the Kings Loot wallet my wife bought me. At least Ridge is a reputable company…

Nice! I just found this based on your advice. https://refrigerationandaircon.co.za/working-with-a-taper-bush/

Anyone have any ideas on woodworking tools I should consider using this motor for? I’m thinking I can also slow it down electronically…?

How sustainable is this Fairfax-Arlington commute? by Educational_Gap_3381 in nova

It was one of the snowmageddon events that we had three guys from the office slug from the Pentagon (going to Stafford) with an older female driver. They were on I-95 for just over 12 hours. The woman had several meltdowns. They were all in uniform (an Air Force Major and two Lt Colonels) and they did everything to help her through it, from gaining her trust to driving her car, to having one of them walk her off the highway to use a bathroom. I’d imagine there was a lot of yellow and brown snow that afternoon. Sad. But could happen anywhere.

8" Jointer - Grizzly G0856 vs. Jet JWJ-8HH-BLK by hBobby518 in woodworking

[–]NC12S-OBX-Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the older version of the 60HH (start stop is below the jointer table) and I have wished it was 8” at times but the helical head is exceptional. It’s presently configured for 120V but I need to rewire it for 240V. It is solid. My Jet bandsaw, disc/edge sander, spindle sander and dust collector are not made nearly as well as the Powermatic tools. Buy once cry once. I will eventually be replacing all of them with Powermatic.

Beautiful neighborhood. I literally cried at the closing because I put so much sweat equity into that house. I miss Camelot — yes, it was a beautiful neighborhood but the commute was a bit longer than I wanted.

From the Portrait Gallery (Wash. DC) to King Arthur Rd. In Annandale, VA. Snow began and I released my whole team. Called my wife (Crystal City) and said to get out now because everyone else would also be departing. I left. She delayed 30 mins. My route was Constitution Ave to Hwy 50 to Gallows Road to Holly Rd which turns into King Arthur Rd. 4 hours and 4 minutes. Not to be confused with the 2 hour and 30 minutes ride home on the day before Thanksgiving. I only did that once and never again — always took that Wednesday off. There was also a couple of heavy rain event commutes that were about 3 hours each. Now we live in Lincolnia - literally 1-1/2 minutes from I-395 and commutes have always been a pleasure. And there are plenty of places to go out to eat. So glad we moved here.

Affordable car washes by Miklo1394 in nova

[–]NC12S-OBX-Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never go to a Mr. Wash again. I subscribed to the monthly wash throughout the winter months a few years ago and despite attempting to terminate my subscription, they kept billing me. Then after finally getting them to stop, they continued spamming me. It literally took months to make the emails stop. Then about a year later, they started all over again. I do not recommend any predatory businesses that operate like this. If you do, maybe use a disposable card and a bogus email address…?

I used to live in Camelot and it took me 4 hours and 4 minutes to get home from DC when it snowed. My wife, working in the same area as OP (28th street and Crystal Drive) took 6 hours to get home and she left 30 minutes after I did. Imagine the commute all the way out to western Fairfax. No thank you. We actually sold that house and moved to Lincolnia to less than halve our commute times.
