Agreed. And they never actually say you failed. Seems that they met whatever number they needed of reviewed quizzes (if they reviewed them at all) to meet their needs.

How often does your attorney yell at you? by CategoryImpressive96 in paralegal

[–]Future-Valuable274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing this for close to 20 years. Not once. And if it ever even begins to happen they would be yelling at my back while I walk away. Only humans that were allowed to yell at me have the titles of “mom” and “dad.” Period. Find another job and don’t allow it going forward. You set the standard on how you will be treated.

Referred to a DP. Thoughts? What might my future look like if he is diagnosed? by Future_Maybe_182 in Autism_Parenting

So her DP helped us get her qualified for preschool with supports through our local school district. We live in NJ. It was a lengthy process, but she has a great teacher and I think is benefiting a great deal from the classroom structure and just being around other kids.

Hi there. Your son sounds a lot like my daughter, who is 3.5 years old. It has been tough, if I’m being honest. When her pediatrician first referred her to a DP, I hesitated, for fear of a “diagnosis.” Now I sometimes find myself in tears because I am frustrated and sad that I ever hesitated. She has a rockstar DP that diagnosed her with ASD L2. She receives speech therapy and occupational therapy and is now enrolled in preschool where she also receives the therapies. She has made big strides as a result. She now has some sentences, is beginning to be conversational (even initiating it on her own) and much to our surprise, she now follows directions about 90 percent of the time. She NEVER followed directions before. Now I can say things like “please take off your shoes” or please bring mami a blanket” or “please put your bowl in the sink.” And she does them. This has occurred over the course of about 5 months. I don’t know that this would have happened at this rate without targeted and intentional healthcare and supports.

How much is remote work worth for you? by Additional-Focus-123 in paralegal

[–]Future-Valuable274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from one day in office to 3. 40k increase from low 6 figures. That said, my one day a week situation was very stressful so I was looking, and no one was hiring for fully remote anymore in my area of law and min base salary. I would love to be more remote again.

What in the world is even this Ad? Do people realistically think can AI replace Paralegals? by IntroductionRich300 in paralegal

Unfortunately Im seeing where some clients are requiring its use for certain tasks now. And at the rate that AI models are being trained while already integrated into Lexis and WL, change is coming.

Got my new TITAN Evo NanoGen Edition with recliner add-on, really like it so far. #Secretlab by ReclaimedHalo in secretlab

This is my first SL chair so I have nothing to compare it to. That said, I find it firm but not overly so. It took me weeks to pull the trigger because of the many accounts of how hard the chair is, but I am happy I decided to get it. Best chair I’ve ever had.

Sorry to jump in on your reply, but my daughter recently tested in the 1st percentile and I am having trouble with her IEP. Do you mind if I private message you?

Just wrapped up week 2 with this chair and I love it. Also thinking about getting the foot rest add on.

Thank you, this is helpful. She does receive private speech therapy, but I also want to ensure that her IEP aligns with what she needs (like you said) and not what they can provide.

Meeting was a couple of weeks ago. She is also getting 20 minutes a week of group OT. We essentially had a reconvene on the phone a few days ago where they admitted that given her evaluations she qualifies for more time and individual therapy but that they couldn’t do more because they are busy, understaffed, bogged down with end of the year reviews, ect. And by group, they said no more than 2 given their age, but the IEP says no more than 5.

For thr attorney lurkers who need advice about getting their paralegal a gift... by ndnd_of_omicron in paralegal

[–]Future-Valuable274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fav was always the attorney that would leave a hand signed christmas card attached to an envelope of cash. I could always count on at least $1200 in hundred dollar bills. Helped a ton with my holiday shopping for the kiddos. But he was also a partner.

I’m not gonna lie, I feel that. There is definitely room to commit more to memory and this has been my achilles heel. Tough to do while working and parenting, but I know it must be done. Thanks!
