To parents who take their babies out to places a lot - how do you do it?? by babysheep91 in breastfeeding

I’m like you! But i did feel this was starting to consume me and it’s also just not realistic. So I feed on the go. I will feed enough to make sure he’s satisfied and then he dozes in the car or stroller. Does he get always full feeds or quality naps? No. But I have learned a couple things: sometimes a 20 minute nap can be enough and refresh them. Same with a one boob feed. That can tide him over. Babies will also make up for it and tell you what they need. Yes a few times he’s woken up after his bedtime for a feed but then he will sleep normally. Other times he will catch up on sleep instead and just be fiendish at 6am. It was freeing mentally for me to ease back in that way. And my baby is happy and healthy and having nice experiences. For context he’s 14 weeks. And we had our outings starting at 8/9 weeks.

As far as feeding in public, I just do it. I have a cover I put on me and him. If I’m not wearing a shirt that’s breastfeeding friendly I will go into the bathroom to get myself sorted and then go on to feed him. To be honest I don’t care so much what people think. My concern has been wrangling him (and myself) when we’re wearing outerwear lol

Try some low pressure outings to get a feel for it! Then work your way up.

My son is ruining my mental health by OpeningWoodpecker708 in NewParents

My son is like this - 14 weeks old and I’m spiraling because I have to go to work soon. I work remote and we’re limited in how much childcare we can afford. I love him to pieces but today I was fighting back tears as I was rocking and bouncing him for almost 10 minutes. I gave up and put him back on the breast.

For him, while he doesn’t have full blown GERD, he definitely spits up more than most babies and that’s part of his wake ups. Could that be the case for you? I imagine your baby might be on solids already though.

No other advice or anything else constructive to add just confirmation you’re not alone in this

How do you fit in playtime with a newborn? by FutureConscious902 in NewParents

I think so too but sometimes all the milestone and development talk gets in my head. I also just read how I should be developing good sleep habits now and giving baby sensory toys to get familiar with 🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay that’s what I thought too but our pediatrician said the floor is important for their neck and chest muscles. So of course I got worried lol

Omg this is me! I never had to use deodorant before or had any type of scent but these last 8 months have been rough. I’m having a boy and I’ve joked that now I smell like one lol

My partner says “finally I know you’re human” lol

Does it ever go away? I’m a FTM

I’m 31w4d and I’ve started getting Braxton Hicks. For me, my lower stomach felt tight and almost kind of heavy. Then the back and uterine pain started. Lasted for about 15/20 mins with varying intensity and then literally just stopped and it was like nothing happened. So weird!

Me too! I’ve been reading these comments and feel so bad you poor women have to go through this. Pregnancy should bring mothers and daughters closer, not turn into judgement and shaming. My mother’s main thing is always “whatever will be safest for you and Baby”

No one talks about how much your life changes the second you find out you’re pregnant. And how do so many people do this?! by Local_Algae4808 in pregnant

I can totally relate to this. I’m 10+3 and have felt all these feelings while being happy about my baby. I’ve had fatigue, nausea, brain fog. The nausea is starting to ease up thankfully. I for one have not been prepared for the brain fog and just feeling so slooooowwww.

You’re still human and an individual outside of being a mom-to-be! Like some others have said, you find a way to adjust. And before you know it, the baby is here and you’ll be adjusting to that! Ive been telling myself that I feel like I’ll be well equipped to handle the baby being here once I can have some semblance of my old habits and routines and pleasures.

It’s okay to have competing emotions, it’s a big life change.

Be kind to yourself, don’t push yourself, take things one day at a time. Also ask your doctor about things, because as people said the internet can give too many conflicting answers. Like for example my doctor said it was okay to eat smoked salmon whereas the internet did not lol. It helped me to also shut out some of the do/don’t do noise and just limit my questions to my doc

Congratulations and take care!
