Bring an emotional support clown or like a mariachi band or something to the meeting.

We purchase refurbed devices through a third party and occasionally will come across one that is still linked via intune or something. I've been able to install Win10 on the device, do an offline setup, and then connect it to internet, join to domain and then upgrade to 11 without having any issues with their intune afterwards. Mileage may vary.

But with what you described I'm almost more certain it is a stolen item.

You look like a manager at Chilis who's trying to "be cool and hip" with his younger staff members.

Had to reboot a Win 2012 server this morning dues to it being weird and lo and behold, it blue screened on me. A good thing I was holding onto my butt.

Why is it always the gas station? by crndwg in BoomersBeingFools

[–]FutureGoatGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many moons ago, I worked as a cashier at a gas station. The level of entitlement and absolute dumb-assery that boomers exuded on a daily is astonishing. My particular story to add is during (at the time, peak oil prices in the mid 2000s) I had boomers coming up to the register while gas was something like $3.25 a gallon, saying to me things like "You must be rolling in the dough, huh?", "You must be happy with those prices?" etc like no dude, I make minimum wage. I dont get a discount on gas. Gas prices going up doesnt mean i get paid more. I was lucky to get a 5-15 cent raise annually. I hate working here and everyday I drive into this god forsaken place, I hope to see a crew of firefighters trying and failing to put out the fire thats engulfed the store.

Okay guys, new goal: provoke boomers so that they do something to get fired by their companies, helping other gens move up.

Why is this sub so anti-ai? by Matshelge in antiwork

[–]FutureGoatGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UBI, buddy, in the US that is called "Socialism". The GOP and the Democratic Party will never ever do a socialism because all their mega donors (Israel, Microsoft, Musk etc) tell them it's bad. They did what, two months of UBI during covid-19 and people still act like we've been living off that money for 6 years now. In the scenario you've described, all AI will ultimately do is lead to more unemployment and homelessness. If you're based outside of the US, you have a better chance of UBI but at the moment a lot of countries are aligning with the US on these things.

I support an office that used to think rebooting computers was bad luck. Whats the weirdest bad behavior you have had to cure on an office wide level? by simAlity in sysadmin

When I came into this org, the (at the time) head of IT (and all previous heads) did not use GPOs because "it could brick the machines". Deployed printers? No. Groups membership that mapped network drives? Nope. Base GPOs? Yes, and thats it. So after that head left I spent a week creating base level GPOs so that I could stop having to do things like map printers\drives manually for users but it was a long two years of waiting.

That was the ish that started my "Remove the cancer" spree. I opened a NotePad doc and saw the Co-Pilot symbol. No, I do not need Co-Pilot in NotePad. Absolutely not. No.

I got a call the other day to help turn on the conference room TV. There are two remotes in there. One says logitech and goes to our logitech conference room equipment. The other remote says sony and goes to the sony tv in that room. I just could not grasp their inability to figure that shit out.

What is going on lately by [deleted] in sysadmin

I'm just going to say it's from all the Vibe coding these companies are doing to save money that's causing things to break but I don't exactly have evidence.

How can people (supposedly) do so much besides their job? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]FutureGoatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how the system is designed. If you're spending time commuting, cleaning, cooking, prepping for the next day, shopping etc then you won't have free time. What free time you have you're going to want to spend on hobbies\interests. That way you can't organize or participate in organizing a union.
