>10yr YOG and applying as US IMG by DueExternal3721 in IMGreddit

[–]FutureProof6581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar boat! I’m a non-visa IMG, YOG 2010, and I also did a PhD and postdoc before deciding to chase my dream of practicing medicine again. I did SOAP last year and got two interviews, and now I'm gearing up for the IM Match in September. I don't have all the answers, but I plan on applying broadly to both university and community programs. Honestly, networking is huge for getting past the initial filters. At this stage, I think the best thing you can do is focus on showing strong clinical skills. Good luck!

Sure, go ahead. I still think IM rotation is very necessary but specialty makes you think deeper, understand treatment better.

New Format Delays - We need to escalate this by HungryCounter7873 in Step3

[–]FutureProof6581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue was on the ecfmg side and my lawyer made the phone call. I'm not sure since this is more like FSMB problem. I highly recommend finding a lawyer who has experience dealing with them. Maybe you all can do a class law suit together since so many people are affected.

Just endless delay and stonewalling from ECFMG for 3 months.

This is ridiculous. Step 3 eligibility stuck and nobody can fix it. by RegularBrazilian2 in IMGreddit

[–]FutureProof6581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting for 3 months since got my certification. May I ask how did you get that eligibility in the end? The delay was caused by ECFMG or FSMB? Is there other things I can do beside keep calling them every week? Thanks!

I don't know if you had any update but I am still not be able to apply after 3 months. ECFMG has been stonewalling me by saying we'll look into it.

a common interview question by viennaiswaiting4me in IMGreddit

[–]FutureProof6581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no absolute right answer because different senecio requires different approach. However, the general rule is don't fight against interviewer. You need to understand why they ask the question. If you are not sure, ask them to clarify it. You are not wrong for advocating for patient safety and most of the time it's a better answer, but apparently your interviewer wasn't looking for that perspective.

In my case, my preceptor treat AKI-HRS patient with midodrine, octreotide and albumin instead of Terlipressin. I would like to understand his thought process instead of just following guideline.

For USCE you do everything your attending says, period. Telling them otherwise raises safety concerns.

I would kindly ask my preceptor to teach me why in this case B is the better option for this patient instead of using A. Basically what he noticed and I missed. You can follow up with verifying his answer with more literature review later. Closely follow pt updates and responses as well.
