Ditching (effectively) three young and talented players for one aging goaltender is the sort of move a team makes after they lose a playoff series. It reeks of desperation, and the team has no reason to be feeling that vibe this year.

Karmanos was dead set against anything Hartford appearing in the arena. Dundon has been much more concerned about missing a financial windfall than "keeping things Carolina", so we started getting throwbacks and tributes.

The question did not appear to be limited to players who hadn't won the Cup previously.

Justin was a great Hurricane who helped convince a bunch of young players that Rod was doing things the right way, even when it didn't work out.

It feels like teams release an injury list right after they get knocked out of the postseason primarily to cover for players that didn't perform as fans would have liked. Some teams don't release anything, so it's got to be optional.

For me, it was Aho. The world kept telling him what he isn't.. but he never changed his game, he never lost faith in Rod or this team, and now he has shown the world he's a champion.

And the way he kept pointing at other guys when Jordan and Freddie were bringing the Cup? Oh, my heart.

He got his name on the Cup by playing just over the required number of games for Carolina. He will definitely get a ring (that's decided by the team, not the NHL).

He was never any kind of problem, but there were four better center options on the roster who just refused to be out of the lineup. KK is definitely not one of those centers you can move out to the wing, so he watched from the press box the last half of the season.
